I went in with a long bob and asked for a simple trim. I left with an uneven, heavily layered cut. The sides are different lengths, the shape is inconsistent and unbalanced. It's an absolute hack job When I contacted the salon, I was told refunds are "not their policy". The only resolution offered was "come in right now and we'll see what we can do" or "20% off a future service". After this experience, I would not feel comfortable returning. A trim should be the most basic service a salon can execute. If that can't be done properly, I would hesitate to trust them with anything more complex. read more

I used to have beautiful long thick hair and I went in for the first session with Linda to get balayage it look great first session but after that next session when I told her I wanted to go lighter , she bleached my hair so much , the color was yellow it wasn't even like the photo I asked her for . But get this - they have been advertising a monthly special for solid hair coloring $100 on IG, yet the owners mom claims this is for root touch up only. To me it's not about the money but the business practices. Why provide false advertisements? Why not be transparent with prices? I felt very confident with my new haircut :-) I was wearing a baggy sweater and biker shorts and looked very disheveled on my way in and the place is very posh but they didn't make me feel little at all! I knew I probably was my hairdresser's first curly hair client because she began to part my hair before brushing it out.( which is extremely painful) I offered to brush it for her after she was done with the first section then she told me to brush out the last section while she worked on the second section that wasn't brushed out. Studio Kay is always clean, welcoming and honest. I am always happy with the customer service and my results. My hair is TOUGH to work with, it doesn't strip color that easy and it's texture makes it tough for extensions but I would never have my hair bleached/toned blonde or added extensions by anyone else other than Lara and her assistants. I've experienced issues with my hair like everyone else who is going blonde but those issues have always been properly vocalized to me and worked on accordingly. Where do I start? I'm shocked as to how this place is still functioning. My sister booked Lara for her hair for her WEDDING last year!!!! Two days before the wedding Lara cancels on her stating she has a medical emergency. Fine, things happen. She sets her up with another stylist thankfully. The day of the wedding comes, we find out Lara is having fun in Miami. Doesn't seem like a medical emergency to me... Why would you lie?? Why would you tell the bride in such a short notice. Next, I had a makeup appointment with Aylin. I got a call 2 months prior to the event stating that she is going to have a family emergency that day... doesn't seem too believable if you ask me... Also, they have a reputation of cancelling on clients and not giving deposits back even though it is their own fault. I have had numerous friends and family members walk into the salon and get their service done by someone they did not book. How do you do that to your clients? Horrible service!! My first and last experience with this hairdresser at Studio Kay. I did some research before making an appointment and I made sure to ask questions. I sent pictures of my current hair and the look I wanted to achieve. When I went in for my appointment, I reiterated what I wanted. The hair stylist assured me it was possible. She did mention that it may not come out exactly the same but as you can see from the pictures, it's NOTHING like what I asked for. I specifically asked her to make sure the highlights were thick so it doesn't blend into my hair and as you can see, it's quite the opposite! Not only that, the highlight color is way off! Not only that but my original hair color more closely resembles the base color I wanted. In September of last year I had a Brazilian blowout done, as a result of needing to use my deposit credit. The Brazilian blowout was the most expensive I've had, $250; and to be completely Honest it was the worst I've had. The girls who work here are kind; and the salon is beautiful and well Maintained, however I feel it is over priced for the service I had. My Brazilian did not last even 1 month. I thought maybe the formula had changed, but I come to find out, it's all about technique. Ladies, they do amazing up do's and fabulous makeup, as I've had both down here.
