My wife and I stopped by Sam's Banh Mi today, and this place delivers. We both ordered the fried pork banh mi, and it was loaded with flavor. The pork was seasoned right, and everything worked together the way it should. But honestly, the bread is what sold me. They make it fresh in-house, and you can tell. It's light, airy, with just the right bite--exactly what a banh mi is supposed to be. The spot itself is small, but clean and well kept. It's more of a walk-up-and-order setup, not a sit-down-with-a-server kind of place, which I actually don't mind for this style of food. Just know what you're walking into. Drinks are grab-and-go from a cooler--sodas, water, tea--so don't expect fountain drinks or freshly brewed sweet tea. That said, they do have some interesting specialty drinks on the menu like fresh sugar cane with durian and kumquat, which I'll probably try next time just out of curiosity. great food, solid spot, and absolutely worth the stop. Well round three, added the meatball and vegetarian sammich to the list. Another fabulous lunch experience. Only negative was low traffic flow at lunch time, ya'll come on and support these folks. If this place were to close it would be a terrible loss. May have been slower due to MLk holiday. If you haven't tried yet then DO IT, you will not regret it. Fresh and great tasting, from the bread (maybe the best I have ever had) to the toppings. I cannot say enough good about these delightful sandwiches. Did notice spring rolls after we ordered and paid, cannot wait to try them next visit. Service was excellent with friendly staff and spotless dining area. So glad I found a decent Banh Mi spot in the area. The fresh spring rolls are prepackaged, but made fresh daily so they are pretty good. The sandwiches are good, but coming from having fantastic options in Tampa I have to knock them a star for the French bread not being as authentic as I'm accustomed to, and the "butter" (really mayonnaise) needed to be on the sandwich or it's pretty dry. (of course I didn't ruin my sandwich with mayonnaise) The meat wasn't lacking flavor, but it still could use a bit more seasoning and the beef was also a bit dry. Disclaimer: I don't eat pork or mayo so you can take my review with a grain of salt!! They also have a sugarcane drink that you could get with kumquat or Durian. I got the Dorien flavor and it was great. My mom got kumquat and she said it wasn't very flavorful. I'll order a chicken bunny sandwich next time to see if they deserve an extra star or a demotion. Overall, I'm glad that this place exists next to a shopping plaza with more Vietnamese options. I'll definitely be back on one of my trips to Costco when I'm staying in Pensacola. read more

Not sure how I found about Banh Mi Cafe. All I know is that I went in one day because I couldn't decide where I wanted to go and I thought about this place. When I walked in I noticed how nice the inside of the restaurant was. It had the feeling of old timey diner like ones you see on old tv shows. Anyway I had no clue what to order but the person at the counter told me about the roasted pork sandwich. I was so hungry that he could've told me about anything and I would've ordered that. I did order the roasted pork sandwich and it didn't take long to get ready. I was on my lunch break so I took my sandwich to go. Like I said earlier I was very hungry. I bit into the sandwich and I was very pleased with it. The bread was really delicious and the pork was cooked and seasoned well. I don't really have any complaints with the experience. I would say because I was very hungry I wish chips or a small side came with it. But that's on me. read more

This sandwich was great the baguette was fresh and crispy on the outside and tender and soft on the inside. I ordered the grilled beef banh mi sandwich. The fresh pickled veggies were perfect and delicious. What I would have loved is if it came with a au jus or maybe a separate vinaigrette on the side. The cafe is nice neat and modern for dining in. The staff is polite and friendly. My order was quickly prepared. I will definitely eat here again. I urge others to give them a try. read more

There should be a line around the corner for the roast pork at all times. They only do roast pork on Friday and Saturday. I went today and it was fast and it was good. I added spring rolls. I ate it all down to the last drop of peanut sauce. I'll go back for the standard Bahn Mi very soon. read more

Since moving to Mobile two years ago, I have been wanting to find a place to get a good bahn mi. When I saw this place under construction, I was soooooo excited! The bread is fresh! The vegetarian option is on point! I am a regular customer!!!! My only complaint would be that the drinks are always underfilled. If you order a drink it is all ice and very little liquid, never even filled to the top of the cup. I've learned my lesson not to order drinks here because I feel like it is a waste of $$. Opened at last. Small and bright, this little place makes delicious Banh Mi, and Vietnamese beverages. They are located next to Pot Au Pho. Their bread is baked in house, and the fillings are super fresh. Midtown Mobile hasn't really had a consistent source of decent banh mi until now. Today I had the grilled pork banh mi, toasted with everything. Holy Moly....so good. And the jalapenos aren't too hot. Just a little warm, which pairs perfectly with the crispy, cool veggies. The employees are very helpful, friendly and happy to answer any questions. And don't be discouraged if the parking lot is crowded. They are fast!! All menu items seem to have the same level of quality and taste, the service is great and very respectful, and the building is very clean and well taken care of. I tried the #1, #4 and the #6, all were straight up fire. Also got the sugar cane drink and the iced coffee, the only thing I would say you should change is to get light ice, but that could also just be personal preference.Please go here and blow this place up, I need this place to stay around . Usually if you want fast, cheap, and good, you can only pick two, this place is one of the very few exceptions. 10/10 read more

They have done a great job renovating a completely dilapidated building. It's clean and the employees have been very friendly and welcoming each time.
