Everything looked promising at first -- nice menu, good presentation -- but one bite in and I started wondering if they ran out of sauce halfway through training. The chicken was a bit overcooked, the vegetables were spot-on, but without any sauce to pull it together, the dish felt like an unfinished thought. The salad was there for moral support, and the gyoza was the one shining star -- crispy, flavorful, and seemingly made by someone who still believed in flavor. It's not bad food, just kind of... indifferent. Like that coworker who clocks in early but spends the day rearranging paperclips. I made my first visit to this local restaurant and picked up some dinner. MP was so friendly and she helped me pick out some different things to try. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. We arrived on a Monday around 630, only 5 tables occupied yet the service was bad. It took a while for out waitress to come over we ordered drinks and tom yum soup, egg drop soup, and spring rolls. The soups were very tasty, the spring rolls never showed up until after our meal arrived. One entree at a tine showed up at our table. First her thai noodles with chicken, it was pretty good. He had the crab fried rice, and a side salad it was a lot of food and was good, except the side salad that never showed up, they took it off the check. I had the spicy fried rice with shrimp and it was plentiful and tasty I also had a side salad with ginger dressing it was not good. The springrolls were tasty when they finally arrived. I view this poor service as anyone can have a bad night but, I am not sure this is a one off failure. We will try them one more time. It is a shame because the food was good. The poor service made this a 2 star visit, otherwise it would have been 4 stars. Service is important, maybe some training is in order. read more

The food and service were excellent! It's hard to find an Asian fusion restaurant that serves gluten-free items since soy is used in so many Asian dishes. But, Rice Asian Grill & Sushi did just that!! They have lunch specials and you get a few items with your meal. I got the Tom Kha which is my favorite soup and the side salad. The salad usually be ones with sesame dressing, b or because that has gluten, they served it with a peanut dressing, which was so yummy!! The Tom Kha was so good, I got some to go!! The panang curry with tofu was excellent. The tofu had a slight sear, which I loved. The pad woo sen was cooked with gluten-free soy sauce, and had great flavor. I have been to Rice before but it had been awhile since my last visit. I can't remember what I had the last time but it was reason enough to come back. Although I had no idea what I wanted I knew I could choose something that I could almost guarantee I'd like. The char-grilled pork platter sounded good. I had some chicken earlier in the day and wanted something different. I ordered online and went to go pick up my food, It was ready when I got there. I got my food and proceeded to drive home. When I got home I was very hungry. I opened the plastic bag and got my boxes of food out. Normally when getting take out the plastic bag is tied way too tight. This plastic bag was easy to get open. Now that may not be important for your eating experience it is for me for some reason. Anyway, there was a box for the rice and then the main course. I dumped the rice into the char-grilled pork platter. There were 2 sauces that came with the meal. I didn't have a clue what to use them for so I put the chili sauce on the pork and vegetables and rice. There was also a rice vinegar type sauce that I put on the fried shrimp and fried egg. Next time I need to look at the menu more closely so I can use the sauces properly. The food was really delicious. The pork was flavorful. I loved the shrimp and fried egg too. I'll say the vegetables didn't have much seasoning but adding the chili sauce helped. read more

Rice was surprising! It's tucked away in a sad strip mall on Government and doesn't look like much from the outside. On the inside, it's spacious, clean and nicely decorated. I started with the summer rolls, which I love and they were fresh and crunchy. The tom kha soup was delicious. It had quite a lot of mushrooms and veggies and was large for the medium bowl. I tried the Jersey sushi roll. It had tempura shrimp, crabstick, avocado, cucumber, fried onion, and crunch batter. It was really good! I'd like to come back and try some of their other sushi. Good food. This was my second time here. I ordered the pork platter and dragon roll. The pork was really tender and tasty. Dragon roll was ok. The steamed vegetables on the pork platter (and in general) don't do much for me. I would recommend seasoning or sautéing them. Honestly, this meal wasn't nearly as good as the first meal I had here in early 2018. That was spectacular. The pad thai was amazing. The sushi seemed a lot better that time, and I also got fried ice cream! For this most recent visit, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. For rating purposes, I would give the 2018 meal a 5 star (I wasn't yelping back then) and this most recent 2021 meal a 3 star. Thus, four stars overall. The interior is quiet, with a couple of televisions showing different sports programs. Pretty solid rolls! We got the hurricane, Nola, and buddy rolls. The hurricane was definitely the best but all of them were good. This actually seems like a pretty cool hang out spot with a surprisingly good cocktail list. This restaurants gets four stars for the above average but not quite top notch sushi and for lack of attentiveness when it comes to refilling drinks and such by the waitstaff. I've had dozens of Asian dishes from some very good restaurants and a ton of authentic Asian dishes because, well I have a lot of Asian friends whose mothers absolutely love me. I've now had what could possibly be the best sashimi and red curry I've ever eaten. The red curry chicken was so buttery smooth and spicy it made my eyes roll back in my head, the sashimi is so fresh it will make your mind drift away into that five star Japanese restaurant where you last had sashimi this good. I'm not even joking. This place is that good. The service you will receive is absolutely impeccable! Not bothersome but attentive. I now have a new favorite restaurant in the area. Went for lunch today, got sweet and sour chicken, but they were out of substitute red bell pepper, and I can't eat the green ones. Draft Sapporo was not very cold at all. I was kinda bummed but the waitress offered me a colder bottled beer. I said no I only wanted one. She only charged me for a soft drink vs the beer price. I did drink it but they still discounted it. This is definitely my go to spot for inexpensive yet filling Asian cuisine. I usually go for a late lunch and they're never really packed then. It's always in pristine condition with people waiting to serve you. Each time I've gone, my service has been phenomenal! The servers are attentive and full of suggestions. They also have pretty good drink prices, though I've never indulged. Now to the best part, the food. I've had three different dishes the Thai Noodle (not pictured), Pad See Ew, and the Pad Spicy Basil, all with tofu. The presentation almost makes you not want to ruin it but you forget about that as soon as you taste the food. My favorite so far has been the Thai Noodle, it is most befitting to the description and you can get is a spicy as you want. I will say that the Pad Spicy Basil isn't very spicy but was still delicious enough to finish without complaint. And I can't help myself but to get the Spring Rolls every time I go. Stopped by for lunch today. Waitress was very distracted. Ordered a sushi roll with no avocado, Tom Ka and my wife got a California roll. The Tom Ka was really good. We added the extra veggies to it which means they add mini corn on the Cobb, bell peppers, broccoli, and green beans to the soup. Was very good. Although it seemed to me like they didn't put as much chicken as if you just got chicken Tom Ka. But the issue today was the waitress brings the roll and it had avocado. Then I tried for about 10 minutes to get her attention but she never came back over to our table. Eventually another waitress saw me trying to get her attention and she went over and discussed.
