One of the things I love about this place e is that the menu is not extensive. They have about 5-6 appetizers/sides, 5-6 entrees, and a dessert. It's vegan friendly as well. I went here for lunch with my girls, and we were all pleased with the food options and the taste. A plus is the different oils and sauces to heighten the flavor of a dish. I love the atmosphere and vibe of this place, and the fact that it's tucked away. The food is fresh and creative (with the exception of the bao buns which don't appear or taste like house-made); with all four dishes we ordered on our recent visit, the flavors were so harmonious and yet combined to create a totally unique flavor with layer depth. The food is a flavor experience, not just a meal. My only criticism (as a beer nerd) would be in the minimal selection of draft beer styles.... of the six on the list, 2 are basic lagers and the rest are pale/sour ales, neither of which I drink and lagers are water, so that left choosing a bottle option, which admittedly offer some unusual varieties. Best brussels I've had in a while and the JFC was delicious - super crispy. Bao buns also great. Didn't get Ramen ONLY because this place doesn't skimp on their portions. SERVICE: our server was top notch - zero complaints. Helpful, quick and happy. The rest of the staff was attentive as well. Our food was out super quick and was fresh and hot. Legit might be back tomorrow. If I had to offer any words of wisdom for the restaurant for the sole purpose of making it the best experience possible for the next patrons, our table was wobbly and I might up my napkin game. I've been to Slurp Society 3 times now since they opened at the end of last year. Each time I find something new that I like. Definitely recommend the brussel sprouts appetizer and the OG ramen dish. I've had a lot of ramen in my day and while I'm perfectly aware this is not authentic ramen (that was fine by me as long as he flavor was good) the broth was so salty it was like eating pure soy sauce. I tried to stir it up a little in case they poured something over top of it but the base was just very salty and yet somehow the flavor lacked. The noodles were fine but reminded me of the packaged ramen noodles I can buy at the store for .50. I had one of the bao buns and it was very dry like it had been sitting out for a while. Slurp society is an aesthetically appeasing little place with polite waitstaff. It's menu ranges from appetizers, baos, and ramen. I ordered the cukes, brussels, and spicy miso ramen. Cukes were a 7/10, refreshing but I think they would've been better had I stirred them and let them sit in the sauce for longer. Brussels were my favorite 8/10 but was heavy on the sauce. Ramen sadly was not something I would order again. I'm not sure if it was more the broth or the noodles or a combination but it just didn't do it for me. The pulled pork texture and sweetness paired with the off taste of the noodles and the not really spicy more sweet broth all made it leaving more to be desired. read more

First impressions: The staff was great! They were all friendly and very efficient for as busy as they were. The atmosphere is very hipster, whole-in-the-wall vibes. Everything was very clean. The bathrooms are gender neutral and surprisingly clean for the end of the day on a Saturday. Our waitress was amazing! I for the life of me can not think of her name though! Which makes me feel terrible but she was excellent. Friendly and thank the Lordt did not excessively see if you needed anything but definitely made sure you were taken care of. So definitely appreciate that. The food was excellent! I absolutely love ramen and I can be very picky about ramen and the food was definitely mouthwatering. We got the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer. It had bacon, bonito flakes and a very yummy sauce on top of deliciously cooked Brussel sprouts. My 1 year old loved it. I had the OG and my husband had the battleship ramen bowls. Mine was delicious. Very flavorful and filling broth. The pork belly was perfectly cooked. I would also like to add that I am very particular about onions. I pretty much only like them caramelized or as onion rings and those pickled onions were some of the best dang onions I've ever had. They have a strong vinegar taste which I loved. My husband wasn't particularly a fan but he doesn't like vinegar tasting foods. I could have done without the green onions or less but that was one of my husband's favorite parts. So if you love green onions you'll get plenty. His ramen bowl was mildly spicy with a good flavor. The staff will make sure you are well hydrated our water cups were never empty for very long. I drank one of the shop's newer beers. It was the Amber Ale. Very good! My husband got a jalapeño mixed drink. It tasted great but could have used some fresh slices of jalapeño in it. Lastly my sister got their Sake flight. The Lychee sake was so good! (7/30/24) Went for my first visit to the new spot/reopening of Slurp Society Ramen in downtown Mobile. From their humble beginnings at 69 St. Michael Street to the new and improved 609 Dauphin Street location, Slurp is all grown up. The new spot is in the old 5 Bar location (right beside where El Papi was (Corner of North Dearborn & Dauphin). It is absolutely gorgeous inside, with dark wood and exposed brick. The ceiling mural is stunning as is the art on the exposed brick. I forgot to get a picture/video of the manekaneko wall, which was also super cool. The second dining room was awesome as well, with Asian inspired street art and red lanterns as well as a rad neon cat art piece and samurai/tiger wallpaper. That side wasn't open for lunch today, but I was told it'll be open for busier times/ weekends (and I'm guessing probably private functions too). The food was as delicious as I remember from the old spot. I really missed the okonomiyaki brussels, beet kaarage and all the bao. Haven't tried the ramen at the new spot but my friend loved her Thai Fighter vegetarian noodles. Servers and hostess were friendly but they definitely got fairly busy so it wasn't as fast as I remember from the old spot, but they are also only a few weeks into it so I'm sure they're just getting a new flow. Can't wait for the city of Mobile to get on the ball and give them their liquor license so I can get some tasty drinks along with all the goodies. I miss the happy hour so I'm hoping that comes back when they do get their license. Had we not planned to take our friends out for desert we would have still been hungry when we left. They definitely makeup for this in their creativity and flavor combinations. I loved everything! The batter on the fried items was crispy, the chicken was tender, the bao was fluffy, the brussels and pork belly are classic together but the sauces and toppings make them special. I got everything to-go, the staff were friendly and offered their opinions on what to order, service was fast, and the few minutes in the shop had me checking out their fun style and marketing. First off I'll say that Slurp Society is a very inspiring restaurant with how the decor, ambiance and overall feel of the restaurant add to the dining experience. I think a lot of the newer restaurants in Mobile could pay more attention in those areas. Those were some of the biggest pros and here are a few more. The service is great, the wait staff was helpful and gave great suggestions as well as great service. Of the food I ordered, I say their bánh mi bao bun was amazing, the flavors mixed very well on all levels and I loved it! As far as cons go, and take this with a grain of salt, there were only a few. The biggest con I took away from here was the ramen itself. We ordered the Slurp OG ramen and the Mapo Mushroom ramen and if I had one take away, it would be that if you are expecting traditional Japanese ramen, this isn't it. The ramen is more of an twist on the classic ramen, and while it's still good, if you go into it expecting something more traditional you'll be left wanting. Overall, I loved the restaurant, but should've curbed my expectations a little. 7.8/10 read more

This does not taste like traditional ramen. The broth was kind of burnt tasting and so was the pork belly. The pork was also really thick cuts as well. We live in Dallas with amazing, authentic ramen so it was a bit of a bummer to drive through for this. I wanted to like it! I just don't think it's a traditional bowl of ramen. Also, the environment is a bit dungy/rough with some weird artwork on the walls. Definitely more of a bar type vibe rather than a date night. The service was also not anything to rave about. This place looked pretty cool when I walked in. A really nice vibe. I ordered the spicy ramen they had on the menu and a citrus alcoholic beverage. Both were pretty good. The drink was super small for being $12. I will say. If you are looking for a legit traditional bowl of ramen, this is NOT the place to get that.
