I've had Sam's burgers a couple times before. This place used to be dari delite. The sign for the plaza is still up lol. They still have the drive thru & outdoor seating which is great. The pastrami there is good. The fries and onion rings are nice when freshly cooked and u get em hot and crisp. Nothing too special on that. They have a good amount of burgers to choose from and chili cheese fries as well. I went with an avocado burger this time. It came with bacon. The burger was yummy. I went through the drive-thru at Sam's and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The lady at the window was so gracious and kind and the customer service was superb with a smooth and easy transaction. They accept all credit cards tap and cash. I ordered the chicken sandwich and everything was fresh hot and made to order. The chicken was perfectly crispy and the lettuce onions tomatoes and pickles were all fresh. The fries were on another level crispy golden seasoned perfectly and served piping hot. My Dr Pepper was refreshing crisp and strong and the whole meal hit the spot. There were three cars ahead of me and I still got through the line in about 10 minutes which is amazing for fresh made to order food. I honestly am not sure how this usually comes, ordered the. Burger combo no mayo, add mustard, cheese, onion. Was just about as good as I remember. Nothing great, nothing bad. Just a good mom and pop stand thin patties well seasoned and love the shredded lettuce. Nice sesame seed bun. The stand out is still the crinkle fries, one of the only places you can still get a nice hot crinkle fry, add in the crunch ice and you have a nice combo. But, the burger was tasty. I had a Single burger with lettuce, tomato, red onion and their special sauce(Mayo and Catsup). All the things I like in my burger. But the problem was the burger was lukewarm. The fries were a little too dark. So, I won't say I won't return, but to get a better review that burger needs to be hot especially if you're eating in. I waited at the speaker box for 4 minutes with no answer, drove up to the window and honked, waited another 4 minutes, front counter and drive thru area was completely unattended. Drove around again when I saw someone else go inside, waited at the speaker box for another 3 minutes with no answer, a worker then came outside and told me to hold on a second. This is the real deal! They have great burgers. To me, this is authentic and local. Onion rings were crispy and delicious. This was a pleasant surprise!! Some of these old school burger places are a hit and miss. We were all really happy with our food. We got the family meal special with 5 burgers and a family sized fries. Although I will say, the fries were not that big. More like a large but not family sized. My husband got a double bacon burger that he dove into before I could snap a pic. Then i got a grilled chicken salad. I was really happy with my salad. I did add bacon to it but it already comes with avocado. it had a good amount of chicken and i think he cooked the chicken in the same grease as the burgers. That totally didn't bother me at all. I feel it made the chicken better. Again, im only speculating based on the flavors I tasted. The chicken was juicy and not dry. Pros- great flavor! not super busy (thanks covid, ugh!), plenty of parking, average/moderate prices, fast and friendly service. Here are a few things we personally prefer- Better tasting ranch; the dressing lacked flavor but chicken made up for it, bigger portion of fries with your family meal, maybe add drinks to the meal for a few dollars more. Like some have noted it doesn't look like much and I drove passed here MANY times on my way down Cedar without even giving it a second thought. If you've done that too......you've missed out. The burger itself was bland and flavorless and nothing stood out at all. If you want a really good pastrami burger combo it's no where in Fresno/Clovis you have to check out my review over at Angelos burger in Westminster CA. I bought 2 regular burgers for my parents and they agreed Bob's in Clovis is much better. Fries 3/5 your average crinkle cut fries I wish it was a bit crispier but it's better than Raising Canes fries. Service 2/5 not too attentive and seemed like the woman was still half asleep when I placed my order today. It seems like Sam's and Flame it burger almost has the same setup but I found out they're not affiliated with each other. I personally think the burgers and fries at Bobs in Clovis is way better.
