Avoid this place at all costs. I have frequented Sam's for the last 4 years and it WAS a terrific spot to grab some lunch and dinner. They've replaced the GM about 6 months ago and he's been putting on a master class on how to ruin a restaurant. Staff that had been in place for years have left. Food and drink prices have gone up significantly and the portions have shrunk. They brought in a new kitchen staff that changed the recipe for what was their signature meal, the chicken wings, and continue the downfall with substandard cooking. Awful. Went for lunch yesterday after a long time not going due to bad experience. Used to be a "go to" place for us. Loved it. Now, again we gave it a try. Place was next to empty with maybe four tables taken at noon We waited at least ten minutes for service. Order a chicken salad sandwich, which was okay. The mahi sandwich on the other hand was downright awful Don't know how they could actually serve it. It was on a gluten free, totally hard roll (excuse was that's how gluten free always is which we all know is false). THe fish was bit and pieces (looked and tasted like scraps of old fish). Not eatable. Have to say, the manager was very nice and came over and I told him the truth. If you tell them, how can they make a change. Until we hear otherwise of a major change, we're not giving another try. Hear too may bad experiences. read more

Food was decent -- nothing special. The seared tuna tasted like it had been previously frozen. The shrimp appetizer was crispy but pretty standard. On the bright side, the beer was fresh and cold. I've eaten here a couple of times, and overall it's a good, solid neighborhood restaurant. The food is good--not outstanding, but certainly not bad. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the location is very convenient if you live in the area. They offer a nice variety on the menu, and the service has been consistently good on my visits. I'd recommend it as a dependable, average spot for a casual meal. read more

Ordered the Cob Salad and Tuna Poke, both were excellent. We are regulars when down in Naples, always order the Key Lime Pie. What a massive disappointment to find out they now just buy frozen desserts and they half the size as they were in the past. Sent mine back and asked it be taken off the bill. Whoever the new chef is, he needs to go!! Cheap ass slice of pie that cost $10 when it's just a frozen pile of mess. No thanks. As usual, the service was excellent. There are not many restaurants in this immediate location, so was pleased to find this spot. We got an amazing table outside, with a gorgeous view. The service was super slow, drinks were never refilled. I had the scallop risotto and my friend had the seafood alfredo. The dishes were average, nothing special at all for the cost. Lacked flavor. I'd rate this as a mediocre spot, but convenient if you are staying in the area. Update, the service and food were much better the second trip. I chose Sam Snead's Grill for my Father's Day celebration. Easy to find location at the Lely Resort, great table, great server (David), great food. The surroundings are such fun for golf fans, like a Sam Snead museum. I had a hamburger, cooked to order. Mine was cooked perfectly. Fries were crispy and tasty. Deb had fish and chips, also prepared perfectly. My only wish is for more coleslaw sauce and flavor, but that is easily correctable. And BTW, 20% off during the summer off season! Something has differently changed here because the food and service is terrible. The seafood chowder soup was so so fishy almost like the fish was spoiled, just awful. The hamburger came out and wasn't even luke warm and also seemed to have an off taste. The chili dog looked disgusting, couldn't pick up with your hands and over stuffed with chili. And don't even get me going on the prices of these items. Way out of control. Staff doesn't seem attentive to the customer at all. Wait for service, then wait for a bill. The establishment is open to the public just in case anyone was wondering. I went in and sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and got my order in and out. The food was ok, nothing special. I don't know if it was because it was during lunch hours and the menu is not as versatile, but I ordered the fish and chips, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and a beer. The fish was lacking a bit of seasoning. Everything else was great. The shrimp with the cocktail sauce was great, the french fries were great, and the coleslaw was great. The ambiance was ok, the look of it all was really vintage. What you'd think a club house would look like in the 90s. There's nothing wrong with that, but just giving my honest opinion. We stopped here after our round of golf for a cocktail and snack. It was hoppin'! Lots of couples having dinner. We opted for Buffalo wings with carrot and celery sticks and blue cheese dressing. The sauce was served on the side. Never had it that way but I rather liked it because I'm not such a saucy girl. Chose the house cab which was fine. Nice way to end a lovely afternoon of golf. Six of us met up here for late lunch (1:00) on a warm Thursday in November. The menu is fairly standard with a few sandwiches, burgers and salads. Since it was early in the season, it was pretty quiet and we were one of just a couple of tables that were in use. The orders at our table ranged from a club sandwich to salmon salad to chicken tenders to burger. The food was served in large quantities and while it was fine, certainly nothing special. Our server looked quite bored and she certainly didn't set any speed records with her lackluster service. It didn't seem like she was all that thrilled with the job. Guacamole & cheese chips - these were phenomenal. The guac was chunky and mixed with lettuce that gave it a nice little crunch. The chips were drizzled with cheese and the salsa was great too. Would definitely order it again! Iceberg salad- doused in dressing, just the way I like it! lol This a half head of iceberg lettuce, more than enough to share and very tasty. I've had steaks all around the country, and this is a top 3 NY strip I've ever had. Cooked perfectly, nice char, tender and amazing taste. Australian wagyu, and is the de facto cut for their strip, filet and sirloin. Kicking myself I didn't take a picture to post here (next time, though I'm on vacation and first time at the restaurant.) Just had to give a review while it was fresh on my mind. Service was excellent too! Has a club feel (obviously), with a beautiful setting on the first tee of course, so while it doesn't evoke a five star restaurant ambiance, the food is undoubtedly on par (pun intended).
