That said, I've never felt more disrespected than I did during my interactions with Samantha the day before my wedding. Months in advance, I booked hair services through Samantha's team. Since she was unavailable, her artist Mandi did my hair trial. Mandi was lovely and perfectly recreated the style I wanted. I then booked Mandi for both my wedding and a pre-wedding event, along with services for four family members. This was all confirmed in our contract. 18 days before the wedding, Samantha informed me she'd be doing my hair instead. I had no issue and sent her videos/photos from my trial, plus a reference braid for the first event. She confirmed everything. However, just days before, I learned she wasn't aware she was booked for the pre-wedding event. I clarified it was in the contract, and she said she'd be there. At the pre-wedding event, Samantha arrived on time but was visibly irritated that a few family members hadn't yet arrived for their appointments. Although we reassured her they were on the way and she could leave by 7:30 PM regardless, she continued expressing frustration. While doing my hair, she was aggressive--jerking my head, using a harsh tone, and at one point accidentally stabbing my eye with her nail without apologizing. My friends and family felt the tension. I stayed quiet until the end, when I gently asked her to direct concerns to me or my aunt instead of my already-stressed mother. She agreed. She finished by 7:00 PM, and we offered her food and drinks. While the style itself looked great, I couldn't shake how disrespected I felt. The next day, she again arrived on time but was distant. She claimed not to have the reference pictures I had already sent her (again), so I resent them. She then told me part of my hair was too wet--despite washing it five hours earlier--and had no blow dryer. A friend had to dry it in the hotel bathroom. The hairstyle was decent but didn't fully match my trial look. In the end, while the hair was okay, her attitude, lack of organization, and dismissiveness were not. For the price paid, I expected professionalism and basic respect--neither of which I received. I won't be recommending her services.

I also liked that tip was included, because a lot of times it's not, and is expected in cash the day of the wedding (both awkward and stressful). And was impressed that the price for having your hair done was a flat rate no matter how you wanted it styled. Not only were Brushworx's prices fair, over the course of working with their team and my makeup/hair stylist, Katia (who is AMAZING), I was given tips that saved me money! I originally didn't know if I wanted my bridesmaids' hair or makeup done, because my budget only allowed for one but I really wanted my girls to feel beautiful. I was leaning towards hair, but Katia advised I go with makeup because it makes a bigger difference in pictures and keeps your look cohesive. I appreciated her advice and that her suggestion lowered the price than if I had gone with hair. Brushworx really is about what's best for you, not what makes them the most money. And she was so right, getting the makeup done really made everyone feel and look incredible! I also got thoughtful little gifts like hairspray, and extra MAC lipstick so I could touchup my lips throughout the wedding (which ended up being very useful)! For your trial run, their boutique is located in the lower level of Patti's house. At first I was skeptical of this; but as I went through the backyard, passing a child's bike, it was actually a really charming reminder that I was supporting small business instead of a chain. But once I opened the door to Patti's studio, I was completely blown away. I stepped into one of the cutest and most stylish salons I have ever been in, and I love going to salons! Once you stepped inside and closed the door you could have been in a salon in one of the most expensive areas of New York City (I know, I live in NYC). The place is incredible! Their energy and excitement, and TALENT, made the trial-run feel like a fairytale experience; transforming into a princess and having fun with it!! It is a memory that I think back to as really special in the lead-up to my wedding. Overall, Patti and Christine and their team at Brushworx is INCREDIBLY ORGANIZED, PROMPT, EASY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH, and ACCOMMODATING, which was essential because I was planning a wedding in GA while living in NYC. On the day of my wedding Katia was efficient and also a fun addition to the getting ready process and made us all look stunning. It was perfect. Everything about working with Brushworx left me relaxed because I was confident that I was in trustworthy and professional hands. I felt so lucky to have found such talented artists!
