" Once we were seated, we waited 20 min until someone took our drink orders, & another 25 minutes before they delivered the drinks & took our food orders. Then the real problems started. Only half the table got their food. Multiple orders were wrong. 1 plate had a huge hair in it. Then one of the cooks came out from the kitchen and told 1 of our party not to eat his chicken & waffles "because it was oily." He had already eaten half of it!?!? WTF?? Drinks were charged twice on the bill. No one seemed to care about any of it. It was the worst dining experience I've ever had. I would give zero stars if I could. Cute place. Better than I thought. I thought this was a little diner. It's a pretty large place right by the mall. Lots of parking and pretty easy access. They have 10 soup options. That's awesome. Consistently poor service. Never pleasantly welcomed. Food takes enormously long to arrive. Tonight at 6:15p. The two of us are one of just 4 tables occupied. I ordered an omelette. My wife a salad. Just like every time we come--30 minutes to get a simple dish even when empty. Worse is that the omelette is like warm like always. And the omelette's filling are never mixed in with the eggs. Nor the cheese melted on top. Instead the ingredients are warmed on the side and then stuck in the middle before serving. So you get eggs separate from fixings which never remain actually with the egg. This is never an omelette. Add the fact that the shrimp on the skewer on top of the salad is cold. Shouldn't grilled shrimp on a skewer be to temperature or close to it? First time back here after silently boycotting for many months. Made a mistake trying again. My friend and I enjoyed Samantha's on July 10, 2023. We were seated in Ashley B's section. From the very beginning, she was high energy, positive, and helpful. She promptly gave us our beverages and gave us ample time to look at the EXTENSIVE menus. Watching Ashley B interact with customers as she performed her tasks was a joy. She is a little dynamo. While waiting for our food, we had a chance to look around. The restraunt appeared to be very clean. The decor was simplistic and inspirational. Ashley B brought our meals, and it didn't disappoint. My friend had the Italian burger( I believe) and fries. I had the Reuben and fries. The fries came in neat little fryer baskets on our plates. I have never had fries like these. They weren't quite pototato skins, but they weren't your normal fries. My friend kept saying how good his burger was. I enjoyed my meal as well. Ashley B kept our drinks replenished if we desired. Ashley B was kind and efficient and took the time to talk to us. This young woman took time to make us feel welcomed there and happy to meet us. From what I saw, she made each customer feel special. Ashley B is an apparently hard worker, enjoys her job, and the food they serve . You can be sure we will come back and sit in Ashley B's section. This little dynamo is a treat to watch. Samantha's Restaurant if you have not been here recently... you have not been here before! Wow has everything been improved and I mean EVERYTHING! The food is fantastic and the service superior to most Restaurants! They have expanded into two large rooms! They have a few TV's, but your attention is for the great food and attractive staff! They are super friendly and attentive too! I ordered beer cheese soup that was very delicious and flavorful! I ordered their white fish entree! Five good pieces of just light breading that second to none! Included was French fries and hush puppies! I was stuffed, but well-fed! When the waiter came with my entrees, I had not finished my soup (restroom break!) so he took it back to keep it warm. That is service and consideration not found in any expensive restaurant ever! Parking is up front or on the side, plenty of it too at this strip shopping area! The restaurant and restrooms were very clean and stocked! We decided to give Samanthas a try the other night for dinner. We did do a delivery order, and that was through a third party, but it is an option depending on where you live. We contemplated between actual dinner and breakfast for dinner as their breakfast menu looked amazing! We decided on dinner. We got the Ristoto cakes as an appetizer, then got the Buffalo chicken sandwich and the hall of fame burger. The risotto cakes were very good. Proportion wise they were amazing....huge and they had heft to them. I could actually order this as my dinner in the future. The Buffalo chicken sandwich was good, the breading on it was light and the sauce wasn't overly done. They did forget to pack up the ranch to go with it, and I'm sure I would have liked it more with that mixed in. I had gotten onion rings to go with it and it had the batter dip that I enjoy on onion rings so that was a bonus. My son had the hall of fame burger and fries. We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for our food and then we asked our waitress again if our food was coming and she said they still hadn't even started making our order. We asked to talk to a manager or to have meal taken off and the waitress was rude and said no they wouldn't do that because they would have to do that for everyone. Samantha's Restaurant Is Not Customer Friendly We have been going to Samantha's on Portage for around 4 years and we have always enjoyed the food. At first the customer service was great and then Covid hit and the service did a 180. We understood that staffing is an issue and despite very slow service, some cold food and some missed orders we continued to go. We understand the situation restaurants are in. We have been doing take out recently and each time, we suspect the food had not been started until we got there. They have gluten free which my daughter needs so we ordered again despite the poor service. We arrived exactly at the 30-minute proposed "ready" time and were greeted with the typical sad faced employee. When she checked on the order she said, "They are working on it." For the next 25 minutes employees walked past us without a smile or a word. One gentleman finally asked at 15 minutes in if we were waited on. We said our food should be up as it was 15 past when it was due. He graciously said he would check. We never saw him again. At the 25 minute mark they brought us our food. By now we were disgruntled. My husband asked what they could do about the price as we had to wait so long, and she brought the manager/owner up. The owner approached us with a scowl and my husband asked what they could do for us since they were late and we did not have our grits (we did, but they were in a tiny container and did not look like grits). She said, "I was going to comp this but because of your attitude I'll give you a $10 gift card." To which my husband said, "That is terrible customer service." The owner was hateful to us, rude and accused us of being the problem. She said, "You're the kind of customer that makes this so hard." She is wrong. We have been patient for years. We have always, despite slow or poor service, tipped higher than most as we understand the industry (our daughter waited tables for years). The problem is her obvious disdain for her customers. My sister and i had a delight lunch at Samantha's in canton. The decor was friendly casual and our waitress was nice and helpful. I had a sandwich that was thinly sliced turkey, crisp bacon and Swiss cheese on grilled sourdough bread. I requested mayonnaise instead of I believe it was ranch sauce. Our lunchtime was several months ago and i shamefully am just getting around to writing my review and I have forgotten some details. I had coleslaw with my sandwich and crisp chips were served. Great place for any time of the day. Samantha's has a huge menu, and the prices are so reasonable. I love their soup selection and recently tried the 'soup flight' which includes 3 cups of soup and pita bread. There are at least 6 soups to choose from and they change daily. read more

They have a roasted beet salad that comes with walnuts, mandarin oranges, goat cheese, and two shrimp skewers. The last two times I ordered the salad I got five shrimp (fine with the total, but it's two skewers, how do you get 5?). I got zero walnuts, zero oranges, and a very very clearly bagged salad mix with shoestring carrots and a ton of iceberg lettuce. Salad used to be $10.99 and has become $12.00. Happy to pay extra considering supply chains and inflation, but disappointed that the quality was sacrificed. I can throw canned beats on a bagged salad pretty easily. It was horrible, probably Top 3 worst service I've ever had. Our drinks were only refilled once after sitting empty for over 20 minutes, my children's drink, despite asking the server 3 times, ever never refilled. Between taking our order and being done with our food our server only came once. The food. My husband didn't like his soup, lobster bisque, nor did he like the sandwich he got, I'm not sure what the name was of it. And there are very unique items on it. I wanted to carefully select my meal since I don't know when we'll be back because it's a bit out of the way for breakfast. I decided on the Samantha Scrambler. It had eggs, sausage, mushrooms, onions, peppers, pepper jack cheese, feta cheese, and hash browns, covered with gravy with a side of toast. Absolutely the WORST dining experience I've ever had. EVER. Got there at approximately 1:05pm- the place closed at 2pm. They said a 20 min wait, which was fine. Got sat earlier than that around 1:15pm. Server didn't come over for another 5-10 minutes. She didn't even introduce herself or say hello. Straight to 'what do you want to drink?' It all went downhill from there. We ordered around 1:35pm. Then proceeded to sit until 2:25pm until any food arrived. Keep in mind during this time the server checked on us maybe twice and only once refilled our coffee after us asking. When the food arrived after over an hour of being there, only one of our entrees came out via a food runner. We both got EGG BENEDICTS- nothing that should've taken that amount of time. Then we waited for 15 minutes until the server finally came over and said that my food would be right out (keep in mind my fiancés food was still sitting there, pretty much cold since he wanted to eat WITH me). We ended up just leaving since I had to go into work. While all of this went on, the staff seemed more attentive to resetting empty tables for the next day rather than checking on current customers.
