Let me walk you through my past experience... we have tried using cleaners 4 others times. Every single one, we were so disappointed. The first finished in like an hour (what a joke). The second didn't even lift objects to wipe the whole surface underneath (uuuum?) the third was really really nice, but there were streak marks everywhere. The fourth was just okay... (he didn't even use proper bathroom cleaning supplies to get the soap grime). Now I am not joking. I have never seen our place this clean. I've literally spent the last 20 minutes walking around, wiping my finger across odd surfaces (like they do in the movies), and can't find any dirt or dust. I'm not exaggerating. And it's the stuff the other cleaners always missed: the inner ridge of the door molding, the tops of the baseboards, way behind the toilet, under my desk on the floor (yes I got on my hands and knees). Deep clean baby!!! She sent two cleaners, it took them 5 hours, and it was worth every penny. I've already recommended them to my friend, who just moved to Brooklyn, into an improperly cleaned apartment. Would recommend and if my budget allows it would use them when I have events and need additional cleaning help. Overall took about 3.5 hours of cleaning because I don't own a vacuum so everything had to be manual. I have a small space - and only needed to focus on bathroom (toilet, sink, tub, floor) kitchen and living space (floor cleaning, outdoor closet wipe down, kitchen area and quick fridge wipe down).

I made the booking online on Sunday night for a Tuesday cleaning appointment, and I had 3 Venezuelan women (they only speak Spanish) come punctually today. Luckily my dog walker popped by and was able to help translate, but tbh we would have been ok even without a translator. The 3 ladies were an excellent well oiled team who went straight to work after a very brief orientation. I have 2 dogs that shed (a lot) and the ladies made my apartment sparkling clean. They were efficient and it took 4 hours (x 3 ladies) to clean a 3 bed/ 3 bath/ 2000SF - this included mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and making 2 beds and cleaning out my vacuum cleaners at the end. Cost was $240. This included a 20% discount for signing up to having a weekly service. Tips are optional and can be paid in person or through the Homey online platform. Mariella was also very helpful on the phone and by text, and any extra instructions can be texted to her (eg if you wanted laundry folded, this could be added for an additional cost). After today's experience, I'm 100% going to use them regularly going forward.

The lady who came to clean didn't speak any English so I couldn't communicate with her. She did a decent job cleaning, but definitely had things she could've improved on. I try to clean on a daily basis, but it's been a little difficult to do deep cleanings after having a baby, working, and going to school full-time. I even cleaned my home before she came because I wanted her to mainly focus on the stove/oven/hood, which I have been overlooking for some time. I did spend an hour cleaning up after, which is beside the whole point of hiring a cleaner... But my issue isn't with the cleaning lady, it's with the owner. When I brought the issue up to her, she completely ignored me, even when I sent her pictures and brought it up twice. I was completely friendly about it and was just expecting a response, not a refund or anything. The cleaner took a super short video after the cleaning was completed which is appreciated but it's hard to tell what was cleaned clearly. But when we came back to the apartment later in the day, saw that the stove, refrigerator and floors were generally clean but noticed that majority of the insides of cabinets/drawers were not wiped, many corners/edges along where the floor/walls meet still had a lot of leftover debris/dust, and she forgot to clean the underside of the toilet lid. We told the owner about this and she sent the cleaner to come back and redo some parts of it. But even after she redid the cleaning on those parts, it was marginally better, but there was still some debris and dust left on the edges and corners after she wiped so it felt kind of futile to ask her to redo it a third time at this point since she just didn't seem to have that attention to detail. I ended up just having to clean those parts again myself. In our initial conversation with the owner before booking, they advised they bring all their own equipment for cleaning (including vacuum). But when the cleaner came, she didn't come with a vacuum. Their reasoning was because our apartment is only hardwood floors, but given how there was still dust balls in some corners/edges even in the second visit, just cleaning liquid and wipes are not enough for them to clean properly. If you just need a very general cleaning this service is fine but don't have high expectations for them to clean thoroughly.
