Just look at the pic of that sandwich. It's a beast! I did kick for triple meat but they made it happen and I got a full sized NY Deli sandwich in Colorado Springs. I will give extra points to any sandwich spot that gives me pickle spears on the side rather than low grade pickle chips on the sandwich. I also liked their house sandwich sauce. Gist off, they have a drive thru, love, love it. A guy came out and will take your order. I waited about 7 minutes since I was behind another customer. I ordered the Garden of the God's with Vinegar Chips, and no drink. The sandwich was delicious, I like that they use Boars Head Deli meats, all the added condiments were fresh, and they give a side of chips that were crunchy. My only caveat was the bread; the roll did taste fresh, even though it looked bit undercooked, it just was unappealing to look at on such a tasty sandwich . The Samich Shack is an absolutely delightful restaurant, food is great and the owner was so nice. I got the Penrose and the turkey was so good with the avocado and the sauce they have on there. My family and I picked up lunch here on our most recent visit to COS. My in laws live in the neighborhood behind the shop but this is the first time I noticed the sandwich shop - cute walk up booth to order, with several picnic benches for seating. I appreciate the effort to make everything look nice, and the dining area would be great when the weather warms up. Menu has several sandwiches, using Boar's Head meats and cheeses. It appears that the sauces are made in house, which is always a plus. Between the four of us, we ordered the Incline, the Pike's Peak, the Pueblo, and the Tejon. I only tried the first two, and it was hard to pick a favorite because they were both good - large portion size, ample amount of meat, the garlic sauce in particular was good. They also carry Miss Vickie's chips, as well as some bottled drinks. Our total for four drinks, two chips, and one drink with tax and tip was about $70 - a bit high but again, portions were large and they use quality products. I didn't even make it out of the parking lot, as the smell was so inviting I had to eat it here and now!! The bread was soft and steaming. The chicken was juicy and the aoli.. soo good! The bread is the thing, it is tasty, light and supple but sturdy enough to hold together and absorb the sauces (all home made) They have a drive up ramp as well as a small outdoor "patio" setting under sun shades. Super friendly and helpful staff (but they won't tell you their favorites). Our group tried several of the sandwiches all were great. They use only boarshead meats, bread from Denver and the aioli is made by hand. The sandwich is lightly toasted, so when you bit into it you get this very satisfying crunch. The shack sauce and aioli were the perfect combination of sauces! You get some chips and a pickle spear to compliment the sandwich. They do also offer tacos and burritos until 2PM. Summary: Very tasty tuna sub, but if you eat a lot, like me, you might be disappointed paying $15 with tip and still being hungry. I ordered the tuna sub and after watching the guy make it, he handed me a punch card, and I gave it back and told him I don't think I'll be back. When I explained that it just looks too small for $12, with tip $15. He argued with me how good the quality was. I said I just don't like paying over $15 for lunch and still needing something else to eat, unless it was something very special, like sushi. He kept arguing. The sub was very tasty. It wasn't any one thing, but the bread really stood out. Good ingredients all around made me really enjoyed it. One minor thing was the pile of chips was really small and were all small pieces from the bottom of the bag. Thought I would tell him I was impressed, so I walked back and said it was really tasty, but I have to drop one star because of the quantity. He got agitated, arguing that will drop his average from 5 to 4.6, which makes no sense. And he kept arguing that he can't give me more food for that price, even though he put on the tuna salad without measuring. I said I can't rate a place 5 stars that I won't eat at again. It wasn't a pleasant discussion. Take the feedback graciously. The owner can decide to make a change, or not. I'll give the Machetes (Mexican) side of the place a try next time. This time I decided to get the buffalo burger, and it was like a million baby angels high fiving my tongue. It was the best burger I have ever eaten. This 'shack' contains three branches of restaurant, one of which is called Machetes Good Stuff and serves Mexican food and American grill food. This place gave me the single best pulled pork burrito I have ever had. It was big and hearty, with a dozen different ingredients, all VERY fresh and varied. I would recommend this food to anyone who loves good burritos or tacos, to frequent gym goers, and to people who just like to feel full and eat good food. The man running the food I had was a very attentive serviceman with genuine care and passion in his eyes. I hold high standards for these things and I must state that I am IMPRESSED with this establishment, personally. As a 'side note' one of the other branches of this establishment specializes in cheesecakes. I ordered a small strawberry cheesecake cupcake thing from her, as I am a cheesecake fanatic, and unsurprisingly I enjoyed it quite well. It was among the good cheesecakes of the world, and I appreciated its convenient cupcake form. The nice lady running the cupcake branch was likewise a wonderful service person. The third branch of this establishment does sandwiches, from what I understand, and I can't wait to try them next time I go. Overall, this was a very positive experience.
