A lot of my friends recommended I try Samira Restaurant and since I was graduating, I felt it was the time to. The location is super nice, really pretty decorations with lots of mirrors everywhere. The food was also delicious. We ordered the lamb kebab and tiramisu to share. I didn't think it would be that much food but I left leaving feeling so full. We were seated really quickly and served fast. I would definitely recommend trying it out.

A really terrific change of flavor! As an Indy resident, Afghan or really any West Asian food is hard to come by, so it was an easy choice to land on Samira for my latest trip to Bloomington. The restaurant has a chic, comfortable vibe and friendly, fast service to compliment. I sat at a two top at the front of the dining room facing the street and the mirrors made for extra good people watching while I dined. I was surprised by the complimentary grilled eggplant and carrots along with a basket of fresh bread. I probably could have just doubled down by ordering extras of those and been happy and full. They both had so much flavor! For my entre I asked for the quabili pallao with lamb and was brought a true, heaping helping of basmati topped with so much delicious lamb, veggies, seasoning, and sauce. I cleaned the whole plate (which impressed even me) and which I would have had room for more. The super aromatic, slightly spicy and rich flavors were all so good. Oh, gosh, and I almost forgot the house salad! It was such a treat, herbaceous, acidic, crunchy and fresh. I really was stuffed (in the best way) by time I left. Don't think twice if you are in Bloomington and looking for something different and delicious!

Food: Amazing flavors! Portions were very filling. A group of 5 of us each ordered an entree and shared it. Kebabs and the Salmon platter were easily shareable. The Cornish hen was tasty but small in portion size. Service: Good customer service! Attentive without being overbearing. My only critique is not of a server but there were bussers/hostess that could have assisted the server with removing dirty dishes or refilling water; however they were in the back near the restrooms on their phone. I drank a lot of water and had to use the restroom multiple times and each time they were tucked away in the back in their phone. Our server was amazing but had multiple tables. Ambiance: Great! Everything in dining space was comfortable and looked nice.

I had never tried Afghan food before, but I eat some (less adventurous) Indian and Pakistani dishes, so I was apprehensive of messing up my order and getting something I couldn't handle or didn't like. But the restaurant was very nice. Upscale experience. The waitress was patient and instructive, so the meal was very good, and the experience delightful. I'm glad I didn't take my mother here. It's not a place for picky eaters who refuse to try things they don't know. But of you are open minded, they will help you through it.

The service here was absolutely stellar! The waitresses did a wonderful job, were knowledgeable, considerate etc. the starter eggplant dish that is served upon sitting was delicate and delightful. Loved the garlic, olive oil and spice that came with the dish. The bread is perfectly airy and central to enjoying the dish as well as eating the baba ghanouj with - delicious! Listen, I love lamb but a problem I always face in America is that lamb is over cooked and tough. The lamb in the quabili pallao was soft, melt in your mouth, oh so good! This has got to be one of the best afghani restaurants I've ever been to in America. I should also note that the dumplings were delicious! Pro tip: if you like spicy order the spicy chili chutney!

Excellent Thai restaurant with high marks for food, service, and atmosphere…read more I've tried the Thai fish cakes, sweet and sour saute, pad bus sa ra com, mango sticky rice, and Thai iced tea and coffee. The savoury dishes were all super flavourful, cooked well, and generously portioned. Maybe this has something to do with the dishes I got, but I think the flavours here are generally more intense than the other Thai restaurants I've tried in Bloomington, and their spice levels might be a little higher. I've been somewhat underwhelmed by level 3 (out of 5) at other places, so I tried level 4 the first time I ordered here, and it was a little too hot, so I went back to level 3 the next time, and it was just right. The Thai tea and coffee were both very good, especially the coffee. It almost tasted chocolatey. The service is consistently on top of it. I was there on Valentine's Day, and they were slammed but had enough staff on the floor for it; the food was quick as usual and everyone was still very friendly. I also love the atmosphere here. The building is one of the converted houses on 4th St, and there are different dining rooms, some with lots of windows, all filled with interesting decor, and there's also a very nice patio during the warmer seasons. The only problem here is, unless there's a back entrance I don't know about, I don't think the building is wheelchair accessible; you have to go up a few stairs to get to the main entrance.

It was an interesting addition to the sandwich because it made the sandwich a little more sour. I added a little hot honey to help counter some of the sourness. The Hive bun was very fresh. It had great texture- crunchy edges but spongy middle. The burgers looked good but appeared very small. I was a little surprised by the portion size considering the cost. It was very expensive for such a small burger that did not come with sides & drink. I liked the big plastic cups for water. It had a bunch of advertisements on the cup, but thought it was great sizewise for water. Usually we get a small plastic flimsy cup for water at other restaurants, so it was a nice surprise. The staff was friendly and served our order relatively quickly. Patrons came in waves. The outside is deceiving because the sign isn't flashy and looks relatively small. But, once you walk in, it appears a lot more spacious than from the outside. Plenty of seating for big/small groups.

Plenty of vegan and gluten free options! I've tried the vegan banh mi, vegan reuben, vegan brown sugar cookie, blondie, and Italian soda in lavender and vanilla. The marinated tofu used on both the banh mi sandwich and reuben is delicious. Lots of veggies on both of the sandwiches. The banh mi wasn't traditional - the mint and cilantro were more like a pesto instead of whole fresh herbs and the marinated tofu is a little different - but I really liked their take on it. Both desserts were really good, but in particular the gooey blondie with the flaked salt topping. I'm also grateful for the option to add cream to the Italian soda here - I love Italian cream soda but this is the first place I've been in a while that makes it. The atmosphere is very casual as you can place your order and pay at the counter and then seat yourself, but it's still nice and comfortable, and kept clean.

RHS bills itself as 'Vietnamese Fusion' and I have no idea what that might mean, but it was good. Very good. We went on a cold day, so eating on the outside deck wasn't an option. The interior is a basic strip mall location with a decent number of tables and plenty of seating, albeit a bit cramped. It's counter service, so it pays to take a look at the menu in advance and know what you want before you arrive. Paid at the counter, and they came to our table with the food very quickly. I had the 'Be Kind to Each Other' Chicken Pho which came with the usual sides of sprouts, basil, lime and noodles. You could upgrade your noodles if you wanted. I also added an order of cajun fries, which doesn't really seem like a 'Vietnamese Fusion' choice, but I love cajun fries so who was I to question them? The Pho was terrific. Loved it. The fries were very very good, though maybe a bit generous on the cajun. Still very good, and I definitely will return for this meal again. Friend ordered the Spam Banh Mi. Seriously???? Well, he did. And he said it was very good. You actually pay $0.50 extra for spam. Again, not sure what world you pay extra for the Spam but he did it. He selected the Fire Engine Tim sauce, which was to be spicy. When I pressed him for more details on the quality he said it could be spicier even with that sauce, but otherwise it was very good. He said to point out on Yelp that "That Diet Coke was clutch" - he may have been making fun of my questioning :) All in all a very good experience and I'll definitely return. I don't find much good pho in Bloomington, so it's nice to have a place for that. I won't be eating Spam anytime soon. I'm giving 4 stars only because the seating was a bit cramped and it was busy inside. I would go 4.5 if it weren't in a strip mall and pretty 'basic' ambiance. And that canned Diet Coke is clutch!
