This is an unassuming place located in an old pizza place. The service was extremely good. The corn nuggets were awesome. The fish was yes bad it was just kinda there. Everyone has raved about the grilled shrimp so I got those and they were well seasoned and good. However, I would not call this southern food. If you don't go expecting southern food I think you might enjoy it. If you were looking for some thing different as I was, you may want to look elsewhere read more

What an absolute treat!!! After working outside all day, my son and I were famished. The surroundings are humble and the food was spectacular. The cost was about what you would expect at Applebeeish places, and well, well worth it. The Mid Twenties son was full, and Papa had a second delicious meal at home the next day. We were greeted promptly and warmly, and treated like family that liked each other ;-)). Between the two of us we had Grilled Tilapia, Grilled (Big) Shrimp, Fried fish, Fried chicken fingers, red beans & rice, green beans, gumbo, and a side salad. Are you getting a plenty of food vibe? I recently visited this place in the last couple of months. Once for me and then with m son. So I will start off saying hat the menu is simple and the service is patient pleasant. I chose not to dine in due to the temperature, for me was to cool. It's like dining in an old captain D's or so, nothing fancy but clean. My first time I ordered the fish and shrimp with fries and red beans. My food was hot and I enjoyed the fish. The shrimp a nice size is fried with a crunchy batter but personally I would prefer the butterfly panko or breaded. The Red beans were filling and somewhat tasty. However, I might enjoy Popeyes's better if I was comparing fast food. On my second visit it was fish and coleslaw. Honestly, the coleslaw was more like a vinegar taste and I couldn't enjoy it. Ordered #37: 2 catfish filets, 2 chicken strips, 2 shrimp, fries, and coleslaw. Everything was absolutely delicious. I have not had cat that good since late 80s early 90s in Texas. $17. Worth every penny and I would pay more. Food is freshly cooked, not pre-made so it is HOT when you get it. Do not know recipe for coleslaw but it was exceptional also. Service is good. Since the previous place that was here closed. I often wondered what the heck Sami's Seafood was. Well...... Visited Sami's, wanted something different from burgers/fries and pizza etc. Gave this seafood spot a go and as the ratings indicated it was a HOME RUN!!! Adam took the order and was also the server. Food was hot and DEE LISH!!! I had #37. The fish, shrimp and chicken; with red beans and rice, cajun seasoned green beans and he threw in 2 hush puppies. I was a member of the clean basket crew and I cannot stated enough it was finger licking good. I will definitely return and I will bring some friends to enjoy this experience. As an added point, I am vet and received a military discount. It is nice to be recognized for my service and in turn I recognize Sami's for great food and service. I wanted to visit twice before I wrote a review so I could try different things. I will say that everything I've had here I have enjoyed. The highlight of both trips were the green beans. They're just spicy enough. I've had the chicken tenders and I've had the catfish and both were excellent. Better than I expected from a sort of hole in the wall restaurant. The people running it are very friendly. This is not a fancy restaurant by any stretch ( cheap plastic cutlery) but I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you like Southern influenced food. Even brought my 85-year-old mom on a recent visit. She's famously finicky and she raved about it. If I have one quibble with this restaurant is they need some sound baffling. The floors, ceilings and all the walls are hard surfaces and it's one giant room so it's just really loud in there. Prices are reasonable for a generous portion of food. read more

Excellent service. Food is great. The gyro meat is "tasty!" My hubby had the gizzards. Breading was light,nicely seasoned and crispy. Really good. Food is fried perfectly--oil is fresh and nothing is greasy so you know the fryers are at the right temperature. Fries were nothing special but it doesn't really matter because the fry sauce was killer (what Cane's Sauce wants to be when it grows up). The lemon pepper wings were phenomenal. Really well-seasoned, perfectly fried, and large enough that 6 wings plus two sides is filling. The fried fish was a little mushy but honestly, farm-raised tilapia is just sorta like that. Still well-fried and seasoned. The fried corn balls were really good--loaded with corn and not just a ton of batter with one or two kernels inside. Great with the fry sauce. An old Pizza Hut that was recycled into a Mexican Restaurant (Los Chavez) has been recycled into a Sami's Southern Kitchen. Similar menu to Sam's Southern Eatery, but I'm not sure what the relation is? The staff is friendly, the service is good, as is the food, which is the same as the Sam's Southern Eatery in O'Fallon, I think. The ambiance is about as good as you're going to get from a 3rd hand Pizza Hut with a fresh coat of paint. It's clean, which is the important thing. Of course the green beans are (probably) out of a can. Why would you expect fresh green beans from a place operating out of an old Pizza Hut? They're nicely seasoned and quite edible, that's what matters. read more

The food here is AMAZING! The shrimp have a nice light crispy coating and they are cooked perfectly. The catfish fillets are huge with a cornmeal breading that is seasoned really well. You have to try their homemade tarter sauce.... It is like nothing I've ever tasted. Delicious. The red beans and rice have a nice sweet heat to them. Definitely getting this again. Come hungry because the portions are huge. Service was so helpful explaining the menu and they've decorated the dining room in nice bright inviting colors. When they say "jumbo shrimp" they aren't kidding!!! They are huge and delicious! Everything we tried was amazing. Shrimp, crab cakes, gumbo, catfish, red beans and rice. Adam greets you at the door with a friendly welcome. After looking over the menu we both decided on #15 which was 3 catfish fillets and 2 southern sides. I got the red beans & rice and seasoned green beans and my hubby got french fries and hush puppies. Adam brought our food to our table at which time we were so surprised at the amount of food we received for $24.00. The catfish fillets were big portions, the breading was SOoo good, and they were cooked to perfection... dipped in their homemade house tartar sauce was the bomb! We couldn't get enough of the rice&beans it was outstanding. Everything came out fresh, hot, and delicious!! Just got our delivery. The order was wrong. we got shrimp delivered and asked for oysters. Frieds meant to be crunchy not chewy like the fried okra. Just visited for the first time tonight and was totally impressed the minute we walked thru the door. The 2 young women working the front were polite and friendly. You can tell they enjoy the customers! Our food came out hot and delicious. I had the shrimp and my husband had the catfish/shrimp. Our sides were fries, red beans and rice (yummy), slaw (great), and green beans. The shrimp, fish and gumbo was delicious. The Gumbo Special had two big bowls of gumbo, 2 shrimp and a big piece of fish. The tartar sauce had a light Cajun kick and fit the fish perfectly. Deep fried food at its finest. I ordered 12 shrimp two sides ' the two sides coleslaw with red rice and beans . Two others one ordered gumbo , one ordered catfish fillets fries . 1. The shrimp was tasty extra crispy no after taste not greasy excellent . Big ! 2. Coleslaw was really good with a touch of horse radish yum! 3. Red rice and beans was so tasty I could have just ate that! The have a smoky flavor that is perfection ! 4. Catfish tasty no muddies pure and clean 5 gumbo good I don't really know anything about gumbo it was good. Appetizers fried pickles - good crunchy crispy not wet mushrooms - fresh not dripping with water very good. Dessert - lemon cake and cheese cake bites .
