Yes please! More Sammie's!!! From the entrance , service, food...yes please!!! We came for Friday Jazz lunch and was my first introduction here. I love Italian food and A+ for everything I ate! We started with the sweet stuffed peppers and were the perfect start to our culinary journey. Roasted peppers stuffed with ricotta cheese and crumble of breadcrumb on top for texture...yum yum. It was lunch but I ordered the veal chop (it's a lot for lunch) but I when I see veal on the menu I am ALL in! It was cooked to perfection with a decedent Demi sauce. Like your plate clean sauce! (If you know you know). The vodka pasta was so good I ordered one to go. The veal parm for lunch could feed multiple people and I'm still thinking about the red sauce that covered the perfectly cooked veal. We had the cannoli for dessert with a cappuccino. Everything here was awesome.

We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were brought back to a booth immediately. The restaurant was packed and the noise level is super high. There are too many tables for such a small room .We had to wait over 15 minutes and had to get a waiter's attention. He was very nice, and professional . When the appetizers were getting ready to arrive, a woman brought out plates and proceeded to put them in front of us , reaching over me without excusing herself to where her face and mine were very close . The food was delicious. I recommend the mozzarella sticks and the meatballs. The lasagna is a very big portion . Caesar salad is incredibly tasty and the veal Marsala was god as well. A bad thing about the place is you have to shout at each other because it's so loud .

This place is always busy for a reason, the food and service are really good. As many have noted, the noise level is high. There are some tables in the back that are a bit lower. This is an excellent restaurant, with not a bad item on the menu. The lemon shrimp appetizer is excellent. Probably not a great place for a first date, but still a "5" star experience.

Who would have thought an Italian red sauce joint would go straight to my top tier Austin recs? Place is just legendary. Sammie's has been hyped up on social media for a long time and I gotta say it's still underrated! I will gladly have Sammie's take the Pepsi challenge against red sauce joints in NYC/NJ etc. In fact, I've told friends and family that I am going to take them to Sammie's when they visit from there. We just had such a fantastic experience - everything..the vibe..the red light fixtures and the color of the booths and the floor..the service - our server was great..loved their outfits..really had an old school little italy feel to it. The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. The chicken parm was perfect - well seasoned, proper amount of crisp..the basil on top...the perfect browning of the cheese. Also the lasanga was excellent..and best part - the leftovers..took it home and the next two days put them in a small cast iron and re-heated them..and the magic was right there in my hill country kitchen! Lastly and certainly not least - the cannoli...just look at the photo below.. I'll say, yes, the place is pricey but you can really easily split these entrees and then it becomes cheaper than a jersey strip center Italian joint. I haven't stopped raving about Sammie's since I've been there, and I cannot wait to return, recommend it, and take friends and family that visit.

Went here with my friends for a nice dinner and I'm so happy we came. The service was AMAZING! Our server was very attentive throughout the whole meal. The food was also delicious and I will say the real winner of the night was the rigatoni with ricotta. This was a nice ambiance with darker/red lighting. I would definitely come again!

I have to apologize that it has taken me this long to write this sweet and short love letter to Sammie's. Back in the Dec. we did a guys trip to Austin and the culinary highlight of the weekend was Sammie's. Stepping through the doors felt like stepping into elegance and onto the set of Goodfellas. From the hostess to the waiters to the manager everyone was super attentive and on top of their game. You can't go wrong with anything from the bar. I have never been a fan of Negronis but the one at Sammie's changed my life! I order them everywhere I go now searching for that Sammie's Negroni high but nothing comes close to it. The food was EPIC! Take a look at my pics everything we ordered was prepared to perfection but I still dream about the veal which took the whole table to devour. Also the Caesar Salad was .

A must go but it's a wait to get in - well worth the wait! We've been several times and the indicator of a great place is consistently in all things:service, food, hospitality no matter how crowded. The ambience reminds me of Raos -NYC! We had the Arugula salad - fresh, light and a great start to the meal. Warm focaccia arrives immediately. Ice cold martinis paired well! We had spaghetti and meatballs as well as the pasta in vodka sauce...they have a different name. Photos below. Food is simply delicious! Thank you Sammie team for the invite in

4.5 Stars Came with a friend one evening to snag a few drinks and light bites. The interior is so cute and romantic! They serve a yummy bread basket at the beginning with flavorful rosemary foccaccia and bread stick crunchies. The price points are on the high side but the quality is good. The calamari ($21) was wonderfully portioned, hot, and crispy and the Caprese ($18) was lovely too - it came with different types of fresh tomatoes. Our waitress was lovely.

Exceptional service at the bar and the most delicious tiramisu I've ever had in my life. I keep dragging people back to try it. Also very cute and intimate inside, usually pretty busy so make reservations

The food and wine were both delicious. Cesar salad was one of the best I've ever had, mozzarella sticks were a bit overrated for the price, vodka pasta is a must, but the cacio e Pepe was it extremely peppery and a little too lemony. It's really dark in the restaurant as well, so I would've preferred a window table. The service was great and everyone is very professional. Four glasses of wine, two apps, two pastas came out to $186 before tip

I went to Sammie's for my birthday dinner and loved it so much I think I'm going to make it a yearly tradition. I loved everything about this meal. All of the dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious and they even gave me a birthday dessert. Our server was so nice and attentive. The interior design of the place is so good, like every aspect down to the matches and the photos hanging on the wall. It was just such a fun lively vibe in there. They even offer valet because it's on a busy street (not free, don't remember how much but it wasn't expensive). I cannot wait to go back!

Sam is an institution - that I had never heard of. We struck up a conversation at another bar and I struck up a conversation with a lovely lady who could not say enough about this place. Told me that we had to go. So we made it a point to go early and we were able to snag a couple of seats at the bar. The bartenders were very professional in their red jackets. Provided guidance and recommendations. The place is straight out of some east coast classic Italian restaurant. Must try.

Seriously such an adorable, intimate Italian restaurant! The service is absolutely phenomenal. It feels very upscale. I loved the waiters' outfits and everyone was so helpful, friendly, and genuinely made it feel like they wanted me to have the best experience possible! I will say it's pretty small, which means it gets loud quickly. By the end of the meal my throat was honestly hurting from having to talk so loud the whole time. Now to the food. W. O. W. We started with the mozzarella sticks, which were so solid! They come with a pesto basil ranch that I would love to have in my fridge daily. We split the lasagna between two people and still had leftovers. That being said it was also $38 so definitely not cheap! Although the price is worth because it's massive and everything I could've hoped for and more. The chicken parm was good. I wouldn't say it was phenomenal, but I definitely wasn't disappointed. Highly recommend to anybody wanting to celebrate a fun occasion or just wanting some bomb Italian food.

Are there any Vegan friendly options?

Does Sammies still have a happy hour menu?

Are there any gluten free options?

Yes! I'm gluten free and I went here last night. The waiter was very accommodating and they definitely take allergies seriously. They can do the Caesar salad without breadcrumbs. Most of the sides and grilled items are gluten free. Also, the pasta…

    Do they have bar seating?

    Yes

The open table doesn't show me what's available - I spend a lot of time guessing at date and time just to say nothing is open. Then if I pick a date 2 months out, it says I'm too far out. How do I find out the closest available time regardless?

OpenTable is showing what's available - which is nothing, because this restaurant books out a month in advance. Check frequently (and early in the morning) for the date you want in a month from now.

    Do they take walk ins?

I believe you need as a reservation as they are normally extremely booked. If you go to their website, there is a reservation button and you can select a date/ time and book via OpenTable. I made my reservation about a month out! Easy to use…

I would say 2.5 stars but I'll land on 2. The first time our server was an absolute nightmare. I honestly don't know why she was called to work at an upscale cocktail bar with such a disdain for her customers. I had a reservation with my husband and our other friend and she just seemed to generally dislike us and anyone else she interacted with. No smile, angry. I don't mind people not having a permanent smile, I can have a RBF myself, I get it. But my husband ordered a table side martini and this comes with a personal interaction with getting your custom martini at the table and I promise you there is nothing she wanted to do less with her day than make a drink at our table, and had no clue what she was doing. She was just potion mixing reminiscent of things I did in the pantry as a kid. She didn't know what to ask that he wanted and was just dumping a little of this, a little of that. He tried to make conversation because she's literally there kneeled at our table doing this, and supposed to be asking for preference on the drink, but not really saying anything. He asked "Do your friends always have you making the drinks because you know how to make good ones?" Her response was a deadpan "My friends are poor." Well. That's awkward. We didn't know what to say to that. When she was done mixing things she realized she hadn't made enough to include a sidecar which is part of this custom drink order. So what did she do? She mixed a bit of this and that again from the random pretty little bottles on her tray with no mind to what was actually being concocted and it was 100% different than what was in the glass. It was even a different color. The drinks made by the actual bar were good, but the server was so dismissive that it was just annoying to ask for anything. The second time we had a different server and he was very pleasant and as attentive as he could be, given the random massive crowd that appeared around our 6pm reservation time. The whole point of Powder Room is to relax and have an intimate, no phone experience, and this requires a reservation. For some reason they decided to let in some random 30 person wedding party or something that had no reservations and just stood basically with their butts in the face of all the seated reservations. It was such a loud volume in there that the server couldn't even hear us and brought the wrong drink. We decided it was too much and left. They did apologize stating they didn't know this was going to happen. Well, you have control over letting people in and this was a choice. I get there was money to be made off a large, random group, but it was at the expense of us as locals wanting to come back again.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. The main area is a good size and shape for larger groups. I appreciated that the music was not too loud to chat with your date. The restrooms are very clean and nice. The outdoor area in back was the biggest surprise. They have a nice, covered area with new outdoor furniture that is equipped with a pool table. Revenge is a hidden treasure. I recommend it for a relaxed, elegant evening.

They may not have expected so many people because it took a while to order a drink at the bar. It was not easy to navigate to the bar with the seats and I think another pole like obstruction, but my friend and I got our cocktails (Brushfire, Ranch water, vodka soda, and one other) and enjoyed them. It was hard to hear people talking inside so we went outside to enjoy their outside patio area and easier to hear conversations. Overall, I thought it was a nice bar with a cool vibe, interesting cocktail options, and various types of seating options.
