Side Caesar salad and fried Burrata.
Miah B.

Whenever I'm traveling yelp is my go to for good eats recommendations and Sapori did not disappoint. I came with my 2 year old. Let's just say the bowls were devoured. We had the fried burrata, Caesar salad and the rigatoni alla vodka. So good and flavorful. I loved the sauce, noodles, and sausage in the pasta. This meal tasted homemade and not just a cream added to a simple marinara sauce. I passed on the extra parmesan cheese. The food did it need it. Here for a conference and told everyone who asked for food recommendations to try this place. This was my 1st food stop from the airport! It was worth it. Staff was great and super attentive.

I've been here twice and the food is always amazing. Cooked fresh to order. Service is speedy and just as amazing as the food! This is hands down one of the best Italian spots in Austin! I will be back for sure!

The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5, it was so loud inside. They need to acoustically treat the small room. With that being said, OMG! I haven't done the yummy food dance in my seat in sooooo long! Wow I was looking, for the record I am still looking, for a memory of the Italian restaurants I worked at in Beverly Hills back in the 90's.. I was not expecting a modernization of what I was looking for! The Risotto was full of flavor! The Lasagna , I have no words! Everything was fresh and homemade! I noticed they didn't have salt and pepper on the table , a bold choice and I was not disappointed! We will be back, I just may need to bring my earplugs..

Side of meatballs minus 1 of 5.

I had the Rigatoni Alla Vodka, fantastic. Pasta was excellent. Sauce great. Portion was healthy. The meal began with Baratta. Perfect. A side order of meatballs. Eh. As for the red sauce, it's sweet. I'm not a fan of sweet sauce. When back in town for another overnight, I could see myself returning. I'll skip the meatballs next time. A choice for there was a lot of food.

If you love Italian. This is a mist. Ethan did an exceptional job of making our experience over the too. The pasta is made fresh daily as well as the bread the Alfredo sauce Again if you like the feel of a Italy, this is a sure must experience.

The wife and I alternate date nights/weekends. We set at least one day or series of days to go out and have a good time. Each month the other person plans the date. I had October and found this Italian place purely by luck. It used to be a food truck and only recently got a storefront. We booked a reservation for 4 pm as the show we were going to later was around 6 so we wanted time but reservations are not required. The place is small so it may fill up so heads up. It didn't while we were there but it was never empty. The staff was friendly, fast, and easygoing. As it was our first time they let us know the food like the sausage and meatballs are made in house and they had a special cocktail currently. The menu was small but varied. Our server was very nice, I believe her name was Robin, but I may have that wrong. I am awful with names, she was there Saturday, brown or black hair, glasses, grey jeans or pants at 4 pm. She was great. The food arrived quickly and was very good. It was quiet and they had lots of wines to choose from, again there is limited seating but it never felt crowded or like you were boxed in, the room was large enough to offset that, they have small tables, booths, and a large table or two for families or groups. I got the classic Spaghetti and meatballs, they then put on parmesan cheese until you tell them to stop. It was great, the meatballs were fantastic and the sauce was good. The meal was filling, even more so with the bread they supply at the start of the meal. SHANA SAYS: This is currently the very best authentic regular person Italian food to be had in Austin! No one should expect high end, but they *should* expect, and will receive, excellent homemade pastas, sausages, and meatballs. I had the Rigatoni Alla Vodka and it was fantastic. My husband liked the sausage more then his meal by a bit. Also great service in a clean, comfy atmosphere. You do have to go into another part of the building walking past the kitchen. There is signage but you leave the restaurant, go into the lobby of another building and around a corner then down a hallway. It is a trip but the bathrooms are clean. Just know to give yourself time. I hope more people support and go here, as I said they had people the whole time we were there, one other couple, a family came in, a group of friends, they stayed steady and I was happy to see that. I hope they make it and people support local!

First of all.... This place is amazingly DELICIOUS!!!! At first it was packed from wall to wall but the wait was not bad at all and well worth it... the place has a nice cozy family style feel. Everybody was super nice! The food was A-h-m-a-z-i-n-g!!!!!!

Busy Friday night, the host was able to seat us immediately. We were pleased with the service and the food did not disappoint us. We split a side salad and enjoyed the restaurant made focaccia bread with it. I had the Rigatoni Vodka. It was a tad spicy for me but it was delicious and I enjoyed it. My wife had the Gnocchi with marinara sauce. She too thought it was spicy but that due to the fact that we both grew up with traditional Italian sauce. The atmosphere is lively and vibrant. Next time we will be sure to make a reservation and not chance being unable to get a table.

Service, amazing! Food, amazing! I went here with coworkers after a long day in town working and we all loved it! That says something when the entire group loves their food. Great wine selection too. And the hospitality is something many businesses lost the art of but not this place! I hope to visit Austin again just to go here!

The wait time is a bit long, but for the quality of food and service, it is worth it! This is a scratch made kitchen, from their own signature oil to warm bread and pasta, it did not disappoint. Service was able to create me the Gnocchetti dairy free! This environment is family friendly, warm and just like eating at mom's house.

Austin, Tx. We had a great dinner here. One of the things I like was a total lack of pretension. Just a casual come as you are welcoming space. Said space is well appointed but some tables are too close together. The host was kind to give us a four seater that was spaced well apart from the others. Everyone here was over the top friendly and helpful. The chef likes to bring the dishes to the table himself. He is the only one who is a bit stoic and has no time for idle chit chat. While waiting for food to be prepared, a great warm bread with a side of olive oil and spices is served. So good. For starters we ordered the meatballs, a classic version that I loved. Good size too. Also a large serving of Burrata Caprese. The tomato's were delightfully fresh. I ordered Rigatoni alla vodka, a great dish. The presentation appears small but it will fill you up for sure. There are thin slices of a spicy sausage in there with the fresh homemade pasta and the great sauce. We also had a Mista salad with shrimp added. Wow, there were a lot of shrimp in a huge bowl of greens that was impossible to finish. The server will come over and grind as much Parmesan over any dish as you want. It was perfect on the meatballs and rigatoni. For dessert was one of the best tiramisu's ever. Unusual serving presentation, in a glass, but outrageously good. Bold flavors and a decent portion for two. We had a latte to wash it down. The espresso had a great rich semi bitter taste. It reminded me of Illy espresso. I walked back to the kitchen area which is wide open for observation and watched the pasta maker guy run the machine, very interesting how much hand work goes into making the various pastas. We were not drinking alcohol, but they made sure we had plenty of water. Good thing too, two hours after leaving I was very thirsty. The spices perhaps?

Are reservations an option?

Yes, reservations are an option. It's a small bistro style, I would make reservations just to be on the safe side.

This restaurant was everything I could of asked for. Probably the best restaurant we tried in all of Austin. I'm from Los Angeles, and have been to many high end and hip restaurants, this was definitely up there with some of the best restaurants. Food: Crab tagliatelle is a must! This dish was delicious and everything you can ask for from a pasta. Gnocchi special with Peas and Asperagus is a must. This creamy and feather light dish was packed with so much flavour. Lobster scalloping was very good as well and so was the filet mignon. But best of all were the side of carrots, pear and endive salad and the Cho salad. My drink was the basil cocktail was was phenomenal. Everything was just so so very good. Our waitress Tiagna was an absolute delight in every way. Thank you so much!!!

I had a great view of everybody walking by the restaurant outside :) Our server was fantastic! He was super friendly and attentive. We arrived at 8:00 p.m. and left a little after 10:00 p.m. The food was delicious. My man absolutely loved his seafood pasta dish! He doesn't even eat pasta but he scraped that plate dry. I highly recommend ordering family style for the table but make sure your whole party is on board with splitting the check evenly because the restaurant does not break up the check according to diners only split evenly, I believe up to four ways. Example: Our check was $822 (included gratuities) for seven people and we were only able to split evenly four ways. Roughly $118 each. It is what it is but I didn't even get a main course. Just a glass of wine, a half of a piece of bruschetta, some of the Caesar salad and a small portion of the gnocchi (all shared) I'm glad I got to experience Red Ash, but now that I've checked that off my list, I'm good.

After giving our keys away we walked into what is a beautiful outside area at Juliet's. It's a nice mix of feeling like you're in downtown Austin but also not. We went inside to request two seats outside and this is unfortunately where everything fell apart. After being seated all the way at the very corner of the restaurant near the entrance, we didn't receive water for 15 minutes. In fact, we had to ask for water, as well as silverware, from a person who was cleaning a table- not a waiter. We didn't order until about 30 minutes after being seated. We noticed that others around us who were dressed nicer for the occasion were receiving service but we were not (jeans and a nice top as opposed to a dressy outfit). This is less of an accusation and more of an observation. It took another waiter noticing that we had not been served to come over and take our order, and that was 5 minutes after we had to flag down a busser to ask for water. The flip side of that whole first part is that the food was pretty good. We got complimentary table bread (after we asked for it since it never came before our main meal) that was soft and went well with the olive oil it came with. For our entrees we got the shrimp scampi and chicken parm. The shrimp scampi was fantastic and light with creamy and bold flavors in-between. The chicken parm was maybe the largest chicken cutlet we've seen given out at a restaurant. Not only was the cutlet massive but it was delicious as well with a nice, light breading and cheese on top. The spaghetti alongside it was a nice touch but this was a true chicken parm entree as it should be. We were offered a complimentary dessert as an apology for the miscues before we ate but turned it down (still good of them to offer). Leaving was easy as the valet was very attentive and quick to get our car. We wish we could say our time at Juliet's was perfect because the setting and food are very nice and a fun change of pace from the surrounding blocks. However, it's difficult to overlook the mistakes made from the jump. We noticed that another table next to us was also experiencing bad service and looked unhappy enough to leave in the middle of their meal/ We're always open to having good food again so hopefully the next time we're here things are different. Just an unfortunate bittersweet taste to what otherwise would have been a fantastic meal.

They offer valet parking but we were able to get free parking on the street. We were greeted promptly upon arrival and seated in a booth with a view of the entirestaurant, which made the whole experience feel a bit more relaxed and elevated. It's a lively space, but the booth still gave us a comfortable corner to settle into and enjoy the meal. The service was elevated with friendly conversation. We started the meal with complimentary focaccia bread, which came out warm and topped with fresh herbs. The waiter brought out olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping upon request. For dinner, we started with the Caesar Salad alla Tommy, which I remember from a previous dining experience was a highlight. The Caesar salad was so fresh and flavorful with a nice balance of creamy and tangy flavors and a crunchy bite. For our entrees, I ordered the Mafaldine with unghi & tartufo which turned out to be the most memorable pasta of the table. The dish had a cream sauce with mushrooms and truffles that was rich, well-textured, and comforting without feeling heavy. The Chicken Parmigiana was a generous portion size that was satisfying, with a solid crisp on the breading and a good layer of sauce and cheese. It was served with a side of pasta. Overall, it's a strong option for classic Italian in Austin, especially if you can catch a reservation during a busy week.

Who would have thought an Italian red sauce joint would go straight to my top tier Austin recs?…read more Place is just legendary. Sammie's has been hyped up on social media for a long time and I gotta say it's still underrated! I will gladly have Sammie's take the Pepsi challenge against red sauce joints in NYC/NJ etc. In fact, I've told friends and family that I am going to take them to Sammie's when they visit from there. We just had such a fantastic experience - everything..the vibe..the red light fixtures and the color of the booths and the floor..the service - our server was great..loved their outfits..really had an old school little italy feel to it. The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. The chicken parm was perfect - well seasoned, proper amount of crisp..the basil on top...the perfect browning of the cheese. Also the lasanga was excellent..and best part - the leftovers..took it home and the next two days put them in a small cast iron and re-heated them..and the magic was right there in my hill country kitchen! Lastly and certainly not least - the cannoli...just look at the photo below.. I'll say, yes, the place is pricey but you can really easily split these entrees and then it becomes cheaper than a jersey strip center Italian joint. I haven't stopped raving about Sammie's since I've been there, and I cannot wait to return, recommend it, and take friends and family that visit.

We went on a Thursday night and it was pretty busy, but everyone who came in was still able to get a table. It feels very authentic. No Italian-American staples like Alfredo, meatballs, or garlic bread, which was actually refreshing since I'm so used to that style. You can either sit down first and take your time with the menu, or order in line before grabbing a table. Either way, they're very chill about it. Another cool thing: they're BYOB and will even cork it for you. Saw other guests bring their own glasses too, which was a nice touch. The pasta is clearly fresh.
