Yes please! More Sammie's!!! From the entrance , service, food...yes please!!! We came for Friday Jazz lunch and was my first introduction here. I love Italian food and A+ for everything I ate! We started with the sweet stuffed peppers and were the perfect start to our culinary journey. Roasted peppers stuffed with ricotta cheese and crumble of breadcrumb on top for texture...yum yum. It was lunch but I ordered the veal chop (it's a lot for lunch) but I when I see veal on the menu I am ALL in! It was cooked to perfection with a decedent Demi sauce. Like your plate clean sauce! (If you know you know). The vodka pasta was so good I ordered one to go. The veal parm for lunch could feed multiple people and I'm still thinking about the red sauce that covered the perfectly cooked veal. We had the cannoli for dessert with a cappuccino. Everything here was awesome.

We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were brought back to a booth immediately. The restaurant was packed and the noise level is super high. There are too many tables for such a small room .We had to wait over 15 minutes and had to get a waiter's attention. He was very nice, and professional . When the appetizers were getting ready to arrive, a woman brought out plates and proceeded to put them in front of us , reaching over me without excusing herself to where her face and mine were very close . The food was delicious. I recommend the mozzarella sticks and the meatballs. The lasagna is a very big portion . Caesar salad is incredibly tasty and the veal Marsala was god as well. A bad thing about the place is you have to shout at each other because it's so loud .

I have to apologize that it has taken me this long to write this sweet and short love letter to Sammie's. Back in the Dec. we did a guys trip to Austin and the culinary highlight of the weekend was Sammie's. Stepping through the doors felt like stepping into elegance and onto the set of Goodfellas. From the hostess to the waiters to the manager everyone was super attentive and on top of their game. You can't go wrong with anything from the bar. I have never been a fan of Negronis but the one at Sammie's changed my life! I order them everywhere I go now searching for that Sammie's Negroni high but nothing comes close to it. The food was EPIC! Take a look at my pics everything we ordered was prepared to perfection but I still dream about the veal which took the whole table to devour. Also the Caesar Salad was .

Went here with my friends for a nice dinner and I'm so happy we came. The service was AMAZING! Our server was very attentive throughout the whole meal. The food was also delicious and I will say the real winner of the night was the rigatoni with ricotta. This was a nice ambiance with darker/red lighting. I would definitely come again!

The food and wine were both delicious. Cesar salad was one of the best I've ever had, mozzarella sticks were a bit overrated for the price, vodka pasta is a must, but the cacio e Pepe was it extremely peppery and a little too lemony. It's really dark in the restaurant as well, so I would've preferred a window table. The service was great and everyone is very professional. Four glasses of wine, two apps, two pastas came out to $186 before tip

4.5 Stars Came with a friend one evening to snag a few drinks and light bites. The interior is so cute and romantic! They serve a yummy bread basket at the beginning with flavorful rosemary foccaccia and bread stick crunchies. The price points are on the high side but the quality is good. The calamari ($21) was wonderfully portioned, hot, and crispy and the Caprese ($18) was lovely too - it came with different types of fresh tomatoes. Our waitress was lovely.

This place is always busy for a reason, the food and service are really good. As many have noted, the noise level is high. There are some tables in the back that are a bit lower. This is an excellent restaurant, with not a bad item on the menu. The lemon shrimp appetizer is excellent. Probably not a great place for a first date, but still a "5" star experience.

I went to Sammie's for my birthday dinner and loved it so much I think I'm going to make it a yearly tradition. I loved everything about this meal. All of the dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious and they even gave me a birthday dessert. Our server was so nice and attentive. The interior design of the place is so good, like every aspect down to the matches and the photos hanging on the wall. It was just such a fun lively vibe in there. They even offer valet because it's on a busy street (not free, don't remember how much but it wasn't expensive). I cannot wait to go back!

Seriously such an adorable, intimate Italian restaurant! The service is absolutely phenomenal. It feels very upscale. I loved the waiters' outfits and everyone was so helpful, friendly, and genuinely made it feel like they wanted me to have the best experience possible! I will say it's pretty small, which means it gets loud quickly. By the end of the meal my throat was honestly hurting from having to talk so loud the whole time. Now to the food. W. O. W. We started with the mozzarella sticks, which were so solid! They come with a pesto basil ranch that I would love to have in my fridge daily. We split the lasagna between two people and still had leftovers. That being said it was also $38 so definitely not cheap! Although the price is worth because it's massive and everything I could've hoped for and more. The chicken parm was good. I wouldn't say it was phenomenal, but I definitely wasn't disappointed. Highly recommend to anybody wanting to celebrate a fun occasion or just wanting some bomb Italian food.

Sam is an institution - that I had never heard of. We struck up a conversation at another bar and I struck up a conversation with a lovely lady who could not say enough about this place. Told me that we had to go. So we made it a point to go early and we were able to snag a couple of seats at the bar. The bartenders were very professional in their red jackets. Provided guidance and recommendations. The place is straight out of some east coast classic Italian restaurant. Must try.

One thing: MOZZARELLA STICKS. These have changed my life and I'll never be the same, plus the pesto sauce was an amazing pairing. Caesar salad was super unique too and tasty. Rigatoni amazing. Came here as a late bday dinner with my Austin friends since im from Chicago. Such a treat and will be recommending to all my friends visiting Austin.

Exceptional service at the bar and the most delicious tiramisu I've ever had in my life. I keep dragging people back to try it. Also very cute and intimate inside, usually pretty busy so make reservations

Does Sammies still have a happy hour menu?

    Do they have bar seating?

    Yes

The open table doesn't show me what's available - I spend a lot of time guessing at date and time just to say nothing is open. Then if I pick a date 2 months out, it says I'm too far out. How do I find out the closest available time regardless?

OpenTable is showing what's available - which is nothing, because this restaurant books out a month in advance. Check frequently (and early in the morning) for the date you want in a month from now.

    Do they take walk ins?

I believe you need as a reservation as they are normally extremely booked. If you go to their website, there is a reservation button and you can select a date/ time and book via OpenTable. I made my reservation about a month out! Easy to use…

Once we walked through Manny's, we were greeted right away and since we had a reservation, we were seated promptly. Quick heads up: cell phones aren't allowed inside -- they take your phone and give you a key to a locker where it's stored for the night. The idea is to keep everyone present and engaged with each other instead of their screens (they do make exceptions for emergencies or on-call situations, at the business's discretion). I actually love the reasoning behind it, even though I wished I had my phone to snap pictures of the inside! The space itself is dark and moody with major art deco Miami vibes, like something out of the 80s-90s. Think pink velvet draped everywhere, a life-size taxidermy leopard in the middle of the bar, and flamingo sculptures scattered throughout. It's gorgeous. There's plenty of seating between the booths/couches and the bar, and they seat you according to your party size. We got a plush half-circle booth with a table that fit all of us perfectly -- great sightlines too, so everyone could see and talk to each other easily. Each table gets an assigned server, and ours was fantastic. We ordered cocktails along with the yuca fries, empanadas, and quesadillas -- all delicious. I can't remember the name of my cocktail, but it was pink, gin-based, and so good, served in a beautiful tall stem glass. Maybe my expectations were too high (as usual) because it's inside a hotel, but I was hoping for the kind of warm hospitality hotels are known for, but instead, the service felt a bit cold. It didn't exactly make me want to spend more money there. While sitting on the patio, I spotted the food truck outside and thought, "PERFECT. A food truck HAS to be cheaper. Take that Simona's!" I had to go back inside to Simona's and place my order with the delightful staff... I ended up ordering two Blue Migas tacos, and honestly, they were just... good, but nothing memorable. They tasted like your average breakfast tacos that you can find all over Austin for less. Despite loving how relaxing the outdoor patio is with its lucious greenery surrounding you and the beautiful French chairs and cafe tables, it's located right next to the hotel pool. The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there.
