The short cake was ALL homemade (the sauce, whipped cream, and sponge cake). The cake was very light and refreshing and not too sweet. This was HANDS down the best Strawberry shortcake I've ever had. We ate the entire thing in the car. The nutty professor is very unique and SO good. It's very rich but is a cross between a peanut cup and a snickers combined. A paper sign on the door is great when there's an early or extended closure, but that paper sign should be complemented by posts on the website and/or social media. In the past few months, we've probably come by on (at least) 10 occasions during business hours only to find that the business was closed...That's a 40-minute round trip from where we live in neighboring Stephens City, only to come home disappointed. I've never called and had a staff member answer the phone, so if we can't even call ahead... G&G needs a system that communicates closures to demonstrate more respect for patrons' time. We've hired G&G to cater our professional events and even our wedding brunch. It isn't too much to ask for a heads up when they know they won't be open during regular hours, right? Ps. I have been wanting to try these cupcakes for a while now so perfect timing! When I went up to the door it was locked. Thankfully Ashton promptly opened it up for me. Since it was closed due to prepping for an event there were no cupcakes in the cases. I said I was hoping to try her cupcakes and she said she did have some in the refrigerator case. Just a day old. They did not taste a day old! My family and I ate them when I got home. They were very moist and delicious. Could not tell they were vegan at all! We will definitely be back. To top off the great cupcakes, Ashton is a very sweet person herself. She thought I was there to pick up an order of gorgeous looking chocolate covered strawberries and when I tried to pay for the 3 cupcakes I chose, she said they were on the house. We only come to Marshall once a year, so this year we were super surprised to see that they have made changes inside. They now have an awesome upstairs area with lots of seating. It's beautiful with lots of windows. They've added more seating downstairs as well. The food remains absolutely delicious. They've added lattes and mimosas to their menu. I forgot to take pictures which is not the norm for me, but I think the excitement of being there took over. I went two mornings in a row. The first morning I had the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit and a slice of cake. Both made perfectly. I also tasted my friend's almond croissant, which was amazing.
