I'm from Illinois and love deep dish. I've ordered Sammy T's twice and it's a great pizza. But it's nowhere near the picture on the website. It's closer to thick crust than deep dish. They need to update their photos online.

Nice traditional old town restaurant/pub. Staff was helpful and attentive. Menu had a variety of food options. I especially enjoyed the vegetarian choices. Bathrooms clean. Has some outside seating. Portions good.

My wife loves the grilled cheese sandwich and fries from here. My son loves the stir fry. All the food we have had from here is good so far. The staff is friendly and move quickly to get you served. The inside is decorated nice and is a casual environment to set in while you relax in downtown Fredericksburg.

Cool place with pop artwork, great vegetarian and vegan offerings, prompt and excellent service. What's not to like??? It's a staple on Caroline Street with great variety of shops to see and visit!

Went for BRUNCH this past Sunday Sept 21,2024. Haven't been here for a Rueben or lunch here in years and was driving through town from FL. Decided to take a good friend who just moved to the area and this place was a terrible disaster at best! We both ordered brunch, Eggs Benedict, which is supposed to have POACHED eggs. Our breakfast came out after waiting more than 30 minutes. I know they were busy but this was 1 pm in the afternoon so well after the breakfast rush. The poached eggs were hard! If your cook cannot make a poached egg then Eggs Benedict should NOT be on the menu! We then sent the meals back and I ordered a basic breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast. My friend ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich. Neither of these meals are hard to make. We waited another 45 minutes and the meals were not made a priority AT ALL! The people across from us, that came in well after us, not only got their meal but ate all their food and left and we ere still sitting there. Our iced teas were NEVER refilled the entire time and our waitress could not be bothered to come to our table, apologize for the shitty service or tell us even when our meals would arrive. She managed to give us a "side eye" look when she walked by and continued to ignore us. I am very generous when it comes to writing up good food places because I know how hard the restaurants work but these employees couldn't have cared less that we were even there. I am so angry about this visit because I really wanted to show my friend the area she moved to had some great eateries. We will never come back no matter how good their Rueben's once were! This place should get no stars but at least they know how to brew iced tea which a toddler could do. We left the place leaving $6.50 on the table which is far more that the iced tea even cost and far more than this restaurant deserves! Shame on the staff, shame on the manager and owners for NOT taking care of customers even on a busy day. The waitress actually seemed put out to be waiting on us. The hostess seemed distracted and less than interested in being employed and everyone else ignored us. OH we also ordered a side of the breakfast potatoes and they NEVER came out. I don't even think the waitress ordered them. Never again. They are lucky to get the rating I gave them. Get new owners, managers and staff because this IS NOT the Sammy Ts I know and you should be ashamed! The only good thing about this place is the nostalgic furnishings I remember when this was a good restaurant.

    The other half -

Not sure what's happened at Sammy Ts but I had the worst food experience since being a patron for over 40 years! I ordered pot stickers that were hard (they are supposed to be soft) as if cooked hours earlier. For 5 they were whopping $15.00. Naturally sent them back. A second order got them right - served hot and soft. Then my go to with a cool Guinness, a Roast Beef Ruben. Used to cost a manageable $8.00 is now $15.00, so I expected at least the same typical way a Ruben is served. Hot on Rye, grilled, juicy meat with kraut, Russian dressing, etc. Nope. Not what I got. The meat was dry and almost white in color. The bread was not grilled or toasted, way too much swiss cheese melted over the meat, barely any kraut and a squirt of dressing on 1 half. I stomached part of a half. It was awful and tasteless. I boxed the other half for a contractor who works for me who will eat it. No chips or fries included for $15.00 as well. Those cost extra. If it weren't for the Guinness I would have walked out! Get your act together Sammy!! Your standards have plummeted and you're serving grub. Overpriced at that. Let me get in that kitchen of yours and show you simple, healthy, delicious cooked food. Worthy of a good rating. But, most Americans just settle and that's part of the problem. It will be a long time before I return.... For a Guinness.

Amazing food, tastes just like homey cooking! Went here with friends and they had excellent service. The food was out fast and the waiter was very respectful. The music is nice and the tv was playing but nothing was too much.

    Nachos

This was their sliders. Literally just unseasoned ground meat on bread. What?! We also got the nachos, which were nachos with slices of American cheese melted. What?!

Tried to order three different beers, and every one of them was "not available today," which is restaurant talk for "the truck's late and so are we." Artie the bartender just gave this little shoulder shrug that said, "Partner, I don't make the rules, I just open the bottles." The place itself helped the afternoon along. The building is laid out so you can see just about everything from your stool: bar, tables, who's coming in the door, and whether your food is on its way. Sightlines were wide open, nothing cluttered or cramped, and the whole joint looked super clean, like somebody actually cares what it looks like before the crowd shows up. So we did what any sensible, thirsty people would do: picked two other beers, ordered some apps, and decided not to take life--or the tap list--too seriously. The beer we got was cold, the food was hot, and Artie turned out to be the kind of bartender you come back to see more than you come back for the menu. We'll be back, too. Lewis would've gotten a whole column out of that shrug. The food was excellent, too. The fish bites alone just about made the afternoon; if the beer list had completely fallen apart, we still would've called it a win on those.

Since learning that, we have made our own oyster tradition and seek to have them in January because it can't hurt! I saw that Port Oysteria was participating in FXBG restaurant week which is happening now and thought it was a great opportunity for us to try someplace new and get our oysters. While we did not order anything from the restaurant week specials (there was only one at lunch, and a couple more after 3pm) my wife and I did enjoy a nice lunch today. The chargrilled oysters were just right for us to share as a starter and very tasty. My wife had the fried oyster po-boy and I had the blackened grouper sandwich; both were delicious. The coleslaw was good as was the Parmesan mashed potatoes. There is a good beer selection on tap and an interesting cocktail list. Our first beer choice was out, but our backup choices were good. Service was good but the restaurant was not very busy. The atmosphere is interesting with moody, dark painted walls and bold murals and a mix of '90s grunge and alt-pop music in the background. We definitely want to go back for dinner sometime and try more of the menu.

For dinner on our first night, we opted to give Brocks Riverside Grill a try and we were not disappointed. Our waitress, Mckewen, was super friendly and helpful with both ordering selections when both of us have Shellfish allergies and later pairing our entrees with wines. For starters, we ordered drinks. My wife ordered a glass of Chardonnay and I ordered a Spicy Margarita. We shared an appetizer of Crispy Brussel Sprouts and bread rolls that came with a delicious oil and garlic dipping sauce. The main dining area was sparsely attended by other dinner patrons, with large windows to one side overlooking the river. For entrees, my wife selected the Roasted Beet Poke Bowl which she described as "light and refreshing" and I ordered the 16-oz Marinated Ribeye, cooked to Medium along with sides of mixed Seasonal Vegetables (sliced Zucchini & Squash) and Redskins Mashed potatoes with an order of mushrooms to go on top of the steak. I also ordered a nice glass of Merlot wine to go with it. The portions were generous, and the entrees perfectly prepared, and very tasty. If there was any fault at all, it was that the ribeye was a little too laden with a ring of fat rather than simply marbled, but otherwise no complaints. For dessert, I ordered a slice of Key Lime Pie and my wife ordered Crème Brûlée. Both were appealing to the eye and each bite beckoned us to take another bite. It is certainly someplace we would go to again.

Fantastic! A "must try" and one we'll visit often…read more We're in the process of moving to Fburg and decided to have a nice dinner. I looked through Yelp and picked F132 as our first meal in the new town. Great choice! We didn't have a reservation, and it was Friday at 6pm, so we were placed on the bar seating wait list. We were seated in 20-25 minutes, which was super fast and great with us. Lesson learned for next time, make a reservation. But, if you choose or wind up at the bar, the service is great and seating is comfortable. The bartender was with us quickly and walked us through the Happy Hour specials. Drinks, apps, etc. they had a good variety of things in HH and many seemed interesting. But we were there for steak, so we let him know and he took our orders. In the meantime, he got us waters and bread service. While we waited, we watched the bar staff make some amazing concoctions including smoked old fashioneds, and all manner of flavors, textures, and mixtures. I don't really do cocktails but there were egg whites, chocolate sauce, fruits, mints and great presentations. They also were serving HH food and the Happy Dog looked filling: the truffle fries were served in what looked like multi-pound platters. I had the filet with French onion soup and corn salad. My wife had filet with mashed potatoes and black eyed peas. The bartender explained sides change frequently and are selected by what is available farm fresh. The corn salad was a sort of chilled street corn with some peppers and stuff. Very good and the corn was so fresh. French onion soup was delish! Absolutely perfect. Black eyed peas were great. I didn't try the mashed potatoes. The steak was the star. I don't know what's in their house rub, but it's perfect. And the steaks are cooked under an 1800 degree broiler so they get that perfect sear. Both were cooked at the perfect temperature. And the meat was trimmed so there was nothing but butter-tender beef. Let me be clear-THIS IS THE BEST STEAK I'VE EVER HAD! The service was perfect. My glass never fell below 2/3 full, and we never were waiting on service, but it was non intrusive and really made the experience so much better. A++! Wherever you are reading this, stop what you are doing, and RUN, don't walk to Fahrenheit 132. You'll thank me later.

Yes, there are "trendy" restaurants downtown with a larger and rotating, seasonal, or farm-to-table menu. But Olde Towne Steak & Seafood is wonderful. The steak is always cooked to perfection, the shrimp in the Shrimp Cocktail are ENORMOUS, the stuffed mushrooms are (chef's kiss), their cocktails (especially dirty martinis) are wonderful, and their prime rib is as big as an infant's head. The interior could use a bit of an upgrade. I went there for my Senior prom in 1990 and although it is still cozy and inviting -especially fireside-the clean, classic decor could use a bit of a perking up. No minor issues like decor can obscure the wonderful service! A LOT of servers in this area consider waiting tables just a job to be done and gotten over with and customers a nuisance. Whether they truly feel it or not, the staff here present themselves as practicing their vocation. But none of this compares to the warmth and personal attention of Mrs. Hyon Harding, the owner. Mrs. Hyon always greets you like you are a welcome guest - not a dollar sign.
