Well priced, home cooked food. Simple but delicious flavors. Come here when I'm not in the mood to cook.

While Samosa Garden is famous for their sweets especially during Diwali, they also offer some great meals. I stop by here almost every other week just to pick up some samosas. Whether it's to hold me off until a late dinner or to grab a bunch to take fishing, they are just as delicious the next day as they are fresh. I have tried a few of their entrees such as their goat curry that's 100% delicious. I was totally amazed at the amount of take out they do. For over 30 years this mother and daughter team has established themselves as a great restaurant offering not just tasty food but super friendly, excellent customer service.

Anytime I crave samosas, this is the place to go. It's such a good small shop and I'm so glad they continue to stay open! Their combo plate prices is great for what you're getting and the food is still so good! I love getting the samosa chaat. Highly recommend! The owners are always nice and welcoming.

I was running errands in South Sacramento today and was looking for an affordable lunch that wasn't fast food. The reviews online were so polarized, which made me a little skeptical, but I love Indian food and decided to give this place a try. I think if you live or work in South Sac, you might already know about this gem. It was about 12:30pm on a Monday and there was a constant stream of customers getting a take-away lunch. The wait was never very long and the fresh food is visible so you can consider your options as you wait. I saw that the prices were a little higher than some pictures from last year, but that isn't surprising given inflation and I still thought they were very fair. I went with a number 2, which comes with rice, dal, yogurt, aloo tikki, and I chose roti and aloo gobi as my vegetable of the day. I also had to try a samosa and, because prices were low and it was heating up outside, a mango lassi. $10 and change--not bad. The woman behind the counter was very kind and patient as I made my selections. When I asked her if I could dine in, she indicated a sign I had missed that said "take out only" but was kind enough to still allow me to eat at a table. She really didn't have to, but I really, really, REALLY appreciated not having to eat in my car. Since it didn't seem like they had staff to handle the dining room, I tried to be very neat and cleaned the table when I was done. Be advised that you may not be able to eat in, so plan accordingly. Now to the food: everything was fresh, flavorful, and and portions were very generous for the price. In fact, I couldn't finish all of the food--a fantastic value for money. The samosa is really a standout and such a bargain at only $0.85!! Completely stuffed with a delicious potato mixture that was NOT dry as I sometimes find at other restaurants and the pastry was hot and flakey. I wish I could have had room for two and even more room to try at least one of their beautiful desserts under the counter--they all looked mouthwatering. Really, this is a 4 star restaurant, but I found the staff to be so accommodating and generous in the face of so many reviews stating otherwise that it warranted a 5th star in my eyes. The vibe I got was going to my friend's house after school and her Indian mom preparing a plate for me. I'll be back!

It's not often that I visit autehtic Indian cuisine…read more I grew up Texas and the Bay area most of my life and honestly only visited buffet type establishments in the past. Recently moving to Elk Grove, I was was surprised to see so many different restaurants and multiple food choices. That said, our group last night decided to try Indian food. Wow! And I mean a big smiled tummy rumbling WOW!!! Indian oven is the beast Indian food I have ever tasted! As you know, in my previous reviews, I have also taken into consideration, the ambiance, the restaurant cleanliness (Including the restrooms) and also the staffs demeanor when submitting reviews. I must admit, I am not surprised that this restaurant easily deserves five stars - on all points! If it wasn't for our server "Rinku", our group would never have realized the meticulous efforts made by ownership and staff in presenting so many varied and wonderful tasting dishes we were not previously aware of. In that, I mean, that when you go to a new restaurant, you look at the menu and you take somewhat of a chance in experiencing dishes that sound good, but having no previous experience/s there, may not receive the best tasting meal on the menu. Rinku not only explained the dishes and ingredients, he also gave a little bit of history and process involved into preparing such wonderful tasting meals - throughout. He took the time to answer our questions with as much detail, history, that was necessary for us to understand how much goes into making exceptional Indian cuisine. He highlighted the nuances involved in the preperation processes, the cooking methods, and the reasoning behind obtaining/ producing such differing textures, depths, and tones of flavors. And pointedly, I noticed that everything was very fresh, possibly and most likely made with heartfelt love for India Ovens' patrons. Once again if it wasn't for Rinkus' recommendations, we would not have known what to choose, pertaining to our personal likes, and to be honest, spiciness and heat tolerances of each individual in our group. From this point forward, I will not have any predetermined expectations of what food quality and/or flavors should/could taste like. Amongst our group, we ordered approximately eight different menu items, each with very specific and distinct flavors, and as mentioned before, wonderful textures. I (Rarely and highly) recommend family, friends, colleagues, and the general public to come here, not once, twice, but often, to experience the full menu - all in its time. I recommend that you come and experience wonderful savory Indian cuisine like no other. Thank you Rinku!

The only reason why I don't rate it 5 stars, is because when I usually order, I order to go, and they seem like they really don't care too much, when it comes to the customer service part of it. Could be because they may think I'm a delivery driver, who knows? The food itself is always good. I usually have a seafood dish, along with some samosas and some type of naan. I just get my good food and go about my business. In the end, my tastebuds thank me for it.

Some locations have come and gone over the years, but this South Sac spot has stayed pretty consistent. The food is classic Pakistani style. Nothing fancy, just straightforward, well-executed dishes. I have had a lot of their menu and most of it hits. The kabobs are always a strong choice, the biryani is flavorful and satisfying, and the chicken tikka masala is decent. Not the best I have ever had, but definitely solid enough to enjoy. It is not mind blowing food, but it is reliable. You know what you are getting, and more often than not, it delivers. One thing I will say is that not all locations are the same. The Natomas one, for whatever reason, just does not hit the same. This South Sacramento location is the one to go to if you want a good experience. The vibe is pretty casual and no frills, which fits the food. Area is a bit rough but that's to be expected in this part of town. Overall, if you're craving solid Pakistani food in Sacramento, this is a dependable spot. Not elite, but very consistent and worth coming back to.

From the moment we walked in, the difference was immediate. We were welcomed warmly, treated with respect, and genuinely made to feel like valued guests. The space itself was beautiful--elegant tables with tablecloths, glass tabletops, and a warm, inviting atmosphere that felt thoughtful and intentional. They even turned the TV on for us and created a space where we could truly relax. And the food? Absolutely incredible. The meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection--every bite was delicious. You could taste the care in every dish. They also took time to talk with us about the menu, introduced us to desserts we hadn't tried before, and even shared music that made the whole experience feel like a cultural exchange. Earlier that evening, we had walked into a different restaurant excited to eat, only to be told they had "closed early" despite posted hours saying otherwise. The interaction left us feeling unwelcome and hurt. Unfortunately, it's a feeling we recognized--and one no one should have to experience when simply trying to enjoy a meal. That's why Tandoori Grill & Kitchen stood out even more. Not only was the service kind and genuine, but the restaurant itself was far more beautiful and inviting than the one we were turned away from--and honestly, thank goodness for that. What started as a painful experience turned into something truly special. There's a lesson in this: go where you're celebrated. Thank you, Tandoori Grill & Kitchen, for your generosity, the extra treats, and for reminding us what true hospitality looks like. You turned our night around. We'll absolutely be back.
