Haven't had an Indian buffet since before the pandemic and saw this place recommended online. Lunch buffet is $16 (and the tip screen options range from 18% - 35%) and includes chai and naan. I was a bit concerned when I showed up at 1 o'clock and only two people were in there, but I decided to roll the dice. And then noticed that when a few other customers came in, none of them seemed like they had been here before because they asked a lot of questions about the buffet set up and even what the dishes were, so I don't think they were very familiar with Indian cuisine. I added a little bit of everything to my plate just to taste it. I like that there were a few dishes that you generally don't see on buffets such as mutton biryani, fish pakora, egg curry, etc.. but I found the standards like tandoori chicken, aloo gobi, and chicken tikka masala not done too well. Not sure if I just put the wrong things on my plate, but I think I had pretty much two tablespoons of everything except for dal on there. I didn't finish my plate and I didn't go back for seconds. I think the food is more like 2.5 stars, i'm riounding up for prompt service and a clean environment. read more

Now that madhuran is gone, this is the best Indian restaurant in the area. They are always improving and always upgrading their interior. But their food has always been the star. Older Indian restaurants in the area were only popular because they originally had no competition. read more

We had the pleasure of eating lunch at this restaurant. All the dishes were tasty and price point was affordable. We had leftovers as well. Surprisingly the next week we went to a a baby shower and our friend hired Jay from Samraat to cater their event at the park. He brought his own charcoal grill and made kebabs and other dishes including biryani and a few other things I wasn't familiar with. All were tasty and perfectly warm during a colder day at the park. I went here for the Buffet Lunch at 1 PM, they are open for lunch between 12 to 3 PM. At 1 PM the tandoori chicken, fish pakora and goat curry were empty. I asked if they would add more, the gentleman in charge of the guest area said yes. 20 minutes later they added 3 pieces of tandoori chicken to the tray. The goat curry was not refilled. I had to ask for my naan after 15 minutes of starting to eat. I get that this is a small restaurant and they don't want to waste food but to serve the food piece by piece and have your customers fight for it is crazy. The food was average. Nothing too special, just usual Indian food you get in the bay. We tried their Paneer Badami, Baingan Bartha, Plain Paratha & Garlic Naan all of which were satisfactory. The breads were Infact a bit too dense and chewy but the curries were good. Baingan Bartha was spiiicyy which I didn't mind but my husband was not a fan of. Chicken kaathi roll had thick parantha, with omelette inside and a chicken sheekh kabab in the the center. No spice, no onions, no vegetables .... Nothing . Just bland. I could taste each of the 3 ingredients separately. Struggled to finish half of it. Keema parantha was dry. Chicken tikka kabab had no tikka in it, just burnt, dry chicken cubes on a some onion slices. Butter chicken was too tangy. Not going back. Do not recommend. Server was polite. I'm sick and was craving Indian food and we decided to order from here. First off, the naan was so burnt that it wasn't even edible. It was the worst naan I've ever seen (obviously couldn't eat it because it was so burnt). Chicken tikka was burnt on some areas, pretty dried, and could be more flavorful. great indian food in a casual atmosphere at a pretty decently affordable price. the mixed vegetable korma was delicious with lots of yummy veggies in there. the chicken tikka masala was also scrumptious and had huge pieces of chicken. the naan was okay, i have had better to be honest. however, the curries definitely made up for it. the service was very friendly - the restaurant was a bit empty when we were there so the server was pretty much just tending to us. i would definitely go back to try other dishes and i highly recommend samraat curry hut if you're in the area! read more

Oh this place gets better with every visit and clearly the popularity is growing as the lunch buffet fills the place. It's a basic retail plaza spot but they are doing their best to present very fresh naan and entrees perfectly priced. If you're looking for a quick lunch you'll be pleased. I definitely appreciate everything they've been doing to improve the interior to now match the quality of the food. read more

A friend originally from South India suggested we visited this place while visiting Fremont from SoCal, we were blown away by the delicious food and amazing service. We didn't know how to read the menu, but the gentleman assisting us was super helpful in breaking everything down for us. My colleague had their vegetarian version of Chicken Tikka Masala: Shaki Paneer. I had their best-seller: Cholle Bhatura. Everything is delicious and unfortunately I couldn't finish it. Finally got around to trying this place. It doesn't exactly stand out in the plaza of other options but I was craving Indian food near me and wanted it to be close to Safeway to pickup things so here I am. Spice levels can be different at each place so I opted to be safer than sorry, and ordered a mild lamb biryani. Initially I was a little put off by the styrofoam packaging, but man, that's a mountain of a biryani. There are chunky pieces of lamb here and there, but the mild turned to be not spicy. I've tried other biryanis that were more spiced up and flavorful so I'd say 4/5. Portion wise, it'll be day 3 by the time I finish it. Great when you don't wanna cook wfh lunch! The butter chicken is just an entree in the small container. Doesn't come with rice. Thankfully ordered a garlic naan which was flavorful but wish there were more pieces to the order. Butter chicken was a lot more flavorful and I ended up mixing some of that sauce with the biryani. Will be back to try some other items on the menu. read more

Ive always liked their food. But, we placed a catering order for 12 people a few days ago. On picking up the food, we initially thought the food might not be enough and called them to order more food. But they were honest enough to assure us that it was more than enough food for 15 people and I shouldn't order more. Turns out, they were totally right. It was soo good to such honesty when a lot of restaurants are focused on just making their money. We ordered veg pakora, chicken sheekh kabab (sooo good), mutter paneer, chicken kadai, yellow dal and butter naan. Everyone loved the food and had very good things to say. Came here when I got a craving for some Indian food and was slightly disappointed Butter chicken: this was really lacking in flavor, I like that the tomato soup wasn't overpowering but it tasted almost flavorless/blandish after a few bites. One word to describe the food at this place. Disappointing. It's yet another bad Indian restaurant in the Bay area that sells absolutely anything in the name of Indian food. They are in business because there are people who will eat anything in the name of Indian food. Had ordered a takeout of only 1 item, Chilli Chicken, and it was inedible. It was sour in taste, plenty of long sliced onions slobbered in some disgusting tangy sauce ( source of all that sourness I believe) and some chewy chicken breast pieces which cries out loud as stale. After the first bite, we had to throw everything in the trash. Sadly in some reviews people have written good things about the same dish. I wonder how. read more

Was craving Indian food and has this place bookmarked for a couple years but finally got the chance to go. Ordered butter chicken, karahi chicken, vegetable samosas, and garlic naan. The vegetable samosas were pretty big and I was starting to get full before even starting the main course. The butter chicken was really good while the Karahi chicken was kind of salty. We had left overs of both and didn't have any naan but ended up eating it with regular Jasmine rice the next day and it was so much better with the rice and the Karahi chicken actually balanced really well with the rice and was no longer salty. I guess the rice just absorbs it better than the garlic naan. I highly recommend this place for some good Indian food! read more

Pretty delicious Indian food. Ordered online and the pickup process was very convenient. Ended up getting Palak Paneer, butter chicken, and garlic naan. I think the Butter chicken was outstanding and at a "hot spice" level, it had a good kick. The Palak Paneer was underwhelming and lacked flavor and Paneer. An absolute hidden gem! I always passed by this place but never actually tried it until now. The food and price was amazing! We tried the pani puri, samosa, paratha, garlic naan, tikka masala, butter chicken, and lamb biryani. The pani puri and samosa were pretty decent for the price. Highly recommend the tamarind chutney they give. It was almost like a syrup but tasted delicious. As for the breads, everything is to order. I recommend sticking with the plain because it works so much better for the tikka masala and butter chicken. I almost ordered extra plain rice and naan just so I could have something to eat with the leftover sauce. It was so yummy! I highly recommend. As for the biryani, the lamb was juicy and each bite was so flavorful! This is going to become my new go-to spot for Indian food! They also have a lunch buffet on the weekdays for $16, which I need to come back and try one of these days. This is a hole on the wall Indian restaurant that I'd come back to time and time again! The food is reliable, consistent, and delicious. My absolute favorite dish here is the paneer masala - it's not overly creamy like other restaurants and let's a lot of the spices shine. The paneer pieces are bite sized, and the dish also has some chopped veggies like bell pepper and onions. Other yummy dishes would be: Brown daal - again doesn't taste super creamy, and has lots of pieces of ginger and a very unique flavor Chili chicken - this is delicious and the masala is just fingerlicking good! I only wish that the chicken pieces were smaller so that I could get more flavor with each bite. I love coming here, and would recommend it to anyone! I was there on a Friday buffet lunch 1:15 pm. About 5 tables occupied but by no means busy. 1/3 of the food trays were empty or nearly empty. During my 40 minutes there, they came out twice and only to fill the trays meagerly. The rice had a burnt taste which rendered the other food bitter. The sauces were bland and my favorite buttered chicken was a no show. The fried fish was good but the 6 pieces they brought out, I got 3 pieces. Their buffet for $16 is not worth the sauces and nan. I originally wanted to try Indian food from another joint but the calls weren't getting through, and online ordering were slated for the next day even though they were still open, wtf? So glad it happened though because we found Samraat which was cheaper and, I'm sure, just as delicious.
