I originally wanted to try Indian food from another joint but the calls weren't getting through, and online ordering were slated for the next day even though they were still open, wtf? So glad it happened though because we found Samraat which was cheaper and, I'm sure, just as delicious. I got an extra appetizer with the mindset that it's basically free since I would have spent the money at the other restaurant. I was somewhat surprised how good it was. Long awaited and excited to try this place only to be highly disappointed. I came for the lunch buffet and nothing at all tasted fresh. Everything tasted stale, old and bland. Came to meet a friend for some lunch buffet goodness. Don't let the stars fool you. This place is odd, at best. So I almost slipped on my a$$ because the floor was so wet. The bathroom is, well, um, disgusting? So the food: it was fine. Nothing new/special. All of the items were covered with plastic wrap and foil, and we had to remove them ourselves. Kinda hard with a spoon, but I wasn't about to reach my hand in there. And the staff watched me struggle with it and didn't even try to help. And the service: so there wasn't really any. There were several dudes working, but they basically dropped a piece of naan at the table, and I didn't see them again until I went up to pay. No bill, no water refill, no bussing of dirty plates, nada. With the AMAZING array of choices for Indian in this area, there's no way this place will survive unless they make some changes. read more

Came with my co-worker for lunch on a weekday and it wasn't busy. They had a lunch buffet for $10.99 + tax per person but we both didn't feel like eating too much, so we just ordered from the menu. I suck at remembering dish names but I do remember getting a super crazy spicy appetizer that kinda tasted like Samosa's. I got Chicken Tikka Masala and it was just okay. It was a bit too spicy (not hot spicy but more like too much spices). The naan was just naan. It tasted like any other naan's I've tried. It was bigger than most places I've been to, so that's good! Service wasn't that great. The young guy seemed nice but I felt like he was kinda shy to talk to us. We were basically done with our meal and he didn't bother to ask us if we wanted boxes or the check (there were only two occupied tables including ours). I kept trying to get his attention, but he would never look. I took some food to-go because I couldn't finish it and my bf had some when he got home from work. He thought it was okay until the following day, the foods gave him diarrhea (too much information but =P) I'd rather drive further out to get better Indian food than this place. read more

A hidden gem down the road from our house. Again, my adventurous boys are wanting to try new foods, spices, etc. and so we noticed the good reviews and being so close we had to check it out. The place does not disappoint. Samosas are gooood. Butter chicken is gooooooood. Garlic naan realllllly gooood. We did takeout but even the slight line to pick up moved fast. This place is in my bookmarks for a while; always wanted to try this when I was around Newark area, but ended up ordered a few online orders recently. This review is based on a few items I have ordered so far. This place isn't big as I initially thought. I had some hard time locating this place. But food pick up was painless. The food was ready, confirmed the order and walked out - all in less than a minute. That's kind of cool. I really enjoyed the chicken biriyani. I expected it to be North Indian style, but it was neither North nor South Indian. It has got a nice flavor to it - a perfect mix of the ingredients I would say. More importantly the chicken was properly cooked and has got the flavor of the masala as well. The Naan was really soft; it stayed that way even after the reheating. Another item we ordered was Karahi chicken - that one was a big disappointment. It had the texture of the Karahi chicken from Pakistani restaurants, it totally lacked the flavor and taste. It was even missing the salt. Also, I ordered bhature - but it turned hard once it was cooled down. It wasn't terrible, but couldn't really enjoy it - compromises we have to make while ordering online it seems. Rest of the items were ok and happy with what I got. Their menu looks promising, some great options. Only did a few orders so far. Will try more items soon and may update the review. Also I have read about various good reviews on their buffet option - I can't wait to try them as soon as the situation go back to normal. read more

Great food. Our favorites are any of mutton dishes, palak paneer, tandoori and butter chicken.

The food was okay. I'm giving three stars for a reason. We ordered chole bhature. The chole were okay, a little less spicy than we like. The bhature turned hard as soon as they cooled down a bit. We ordered onion kulcha which was very well prepared and soft. We also ordered mixed veg korma. The dish was bland, had very little spices. I couldn't taste the vegetables. They seemed to be from a frozen pack. The curry had a good consistency but seemed to have too much cream. The vegetarian options are definitely mediocre. I'll have to go again to try the non-veg stuff. read more

Oooo Samraat for the win. Do people still say for the win? Maybe my boomer internet culture is showing here. Samraat has some delicious eats though. Me and my gf were looking for a new Indian restaurant to try out after having a few bad experiences at the one closest to us. So Yelp led us to Samraat! And Yelp didn't disappoint. Their CTM is absolutely delicious. That's actually my standard for Indian restaurants to have a good CTM, and they definitely exceeded my standards. Their aloo palak is also pretty delicious too. Definitely gonna keep these guys in mind next time I have a fixing for some Indian food! read more

Beware of the overall 5-star rating! Out of the 11 reviews so far, 8 of them have been by people who have made 5 reviews or fewer... Some with only one review (which was Curry Hut). Seems a little suspicious... Too bad I didn't notice that until after eating here. I ate at Samraat Curry Hut two weeks ago at the $9/person lunch buffet. We thought the buffet would be a better deal than ordering a-la-carte, but... there was a very limited selection of items (~10), and none of them were particularly outstanding. The "good/okay" food: vegetable pakora, aloo gobi, tikka masala, spicy cabbage, kheer, and garlic naan The "not even okay" food: tandoori chicken (dry and salty); okra (disgustingly salty. I felt like I was eating a day's worth of salt in one bite); fish pakora (soggy - it had obviously been sitting out there for a while, especially since there were only a few pieces in the tray the whole time and it was only refilled at 1 PM when we were finishing our meal and everyone else had already left); lentil curry (bland) I also tried a little of the goat curry but I've never really liked it much, so I can't say much for the one here. Seems like it's just bones and a few scraps of meat if you're lucky. I was disappointed that there was only plain basmati rice. And no spinach either :/ There is free chai masala tea with the meal. They also sell mango lassi but I didn't try it. Service was mediocre at best. Our dirty plates were left on the table for quite a while, as the lone waiter stood next to the kitchen chatting and doing who knows what. Overall, this place is pretty lacking. Next time I feel like eating at an Indian buffet, I'll drive a little farther to Hayward instead. read more

My co-worker and I were about to have sushi but I just happened to see this restaurant on the way. I felt a little adventurous or basically, I wanted to try something new. It was noon lunch time. There was only one couple there besides us. The place was small but if you had a large group, you could do it; just come early. I was actually expecting a sit down ala cart kind of menu. I was very surprised it was a buffet and close to my work. We found a seat, went up and saw a pretty good selection of food. Dessert was included. We had water but I don't think soda or any beverages were included in the price. Everything was good. Nothing was too spicy or too salty. They do serve beer!!! The guy serving us naan (free) or water was friendly and helpful. When we left, the place was packed! Can't believe it's been here for two years already and we didn't try this place! My husband and I enjoy coming here! The level of spices are amazing! Before the COVID-19, my husband and I would dine in all of the time! But now we just order to go or even have them delivered to the house (more convenient). The people here are nice. The restaurant is always clean. They are very quick with orders. When we come, usually there is only one more person dining in. But while we are there, we do see so many people coming in for pick ups! Came in about 30 Minutes before lunch closed. No one there food is cold on left side of the buffet and Nan is only made to order when asked. We pretty much helped ourselves the entire time the guy who was there helping us was mad or something the entire time. But we just went our business and ate. We only got to get two plates in before the guys started closing up without asking if we were good but agian it was closing lunch time. When I went to pay I paid 36.00 plus a couple dollar tip for two half ass buffet and no recept. Food is pretty tasty, up to par as far as most Indian food. Hayward seems to have the better Indian food. Although the service is mediocre due to barely speaking english, I bit into the food and was chewing on a metal thread from what seems like a metal sponge scrubber??? Most Indian restaurants are dirty af haha, but the metal scrubber was a huge turn off to eat the rest of the food. read more

We love this place sooooo much. The food is always amazing. Today the man that took our order over the phone had no idea what I was saying so I went in person and used google translate. When I got home I was missing 2 items and had an extra item - I thought Ipaid for all of them so I tried to call for the rice. OMG this is a fabulous buffet. I have been to my fair share of Indian buffets. This has the most selection and the best quality and the best service. While I didn't count the options, they must have over 20 items plus naan. They had goat, paneers, several rice options, samosas, fish pakora, fish curry. There was so many I couldn't try them all. The flavors were superb and all dishes were fresh and warm and not dried out. My only problem is that it's 16 miles away so I can't get here very often. read more

This place was a large disappointment. I've tried the Indian restaurants at this location over the years as they kept getting replaced by new owners and changing names, and this has to be the worst incarnation I've experienced. First of all is the wait time. Despite being only the second party in here, they were quite slow. In comparison to the rest of the competition, I would say they're about three times as slow. It took forty minutes before our last order arrived, and thirty for the first part. Our party tried our best to politely voice their complaint, but we didn't even get an apology, just an odd look and a declaration that Indian food on average takes an hour to make for a good meal. This is obviously not true for the rest of their competitors in the area. Our waters were never refilled, and their food wasn't very good either. I've never had Butter Chicken that was so freaking sweet in my life. It was almost like having a dessert. In short, I'm not coming back due to unimpressive food and even less impressive service, but if the trend continues, I'm sure I'll be back to try the next place that replaces them. read more

Checked out this place due to the good reviews. I was looking for a good chaat place and unfortunately this place was very disappointing. Should've gone to Mumbai Chowk across the street. The Good/okay - samosa chaat was decent but too similar to the choley bature which was okay. - Malai kofta. The sauce was good, but malai koftas were bland and a weird texture. The garlic naan was good though! Bad - Pani puris were pretty bad - hard and flat. The filling was just bland potatoes with nothing else and pani was tasteless as well. - Bhel - terrible - mostly just the rice puff and spicy watery chutneys. Again, barely any onions, tomatoes or sev. We didn't even bother finishing this. - Papdi chaat - pass on this too. - paneer wrap - was so hot my we couldn't eat it and had to take it hope. The foil wrap didn't even cook down by the time we left. - Overall this place is cheap on ingredients and quality and therefore disappoints in taste. This place is located in the same plaza as Sprouts. Came here with my bf to have a "light" dinner.. lol We ordered mild butter chicken and 2 orders of garlic naan to share and it was just the perfect amount for both of us. The mild butter chicken was pretty good but i think i can go for the medium spicy next time because the mild was not spicy at all. Their garlic naan was cooked just how i like it! It was thin, soft and a little crispy on the edges. It was sooo good dipped in the butter chicken. The service here was OK. Will possibly come back to try their rolls. I pre-ordered food online and it was ready at the start of my pickup window. Staff were nice. However I just didn't love the food. I ordered mild paneer tikka masala and tandoori paneer. The tandoori paneer had minimal flavor and was mostly just spicy. The tikka was okay- very one note of sweet and not spicy at all (which was great) but didn't have much flavor aside from sweet. Having tried a variety of Indian food restaurants, I'm expecting some depth to the dishes I order- this was very one note & flat. Mango lassi - My first thought when I sipped this drink was "wow". The flavor is as bold as it's color. It tastes like it has special ingredients added to it in order to stand out from the crowd. I can't put my finger on it, but I think it might be apricot. It has an extra "tangy-ness" to it which can give the first impression of it possibly being mixed with cayenne pepper, but after several sips, the flavor melds together. It has a more "watery" texture to it rather than a yogurt texture. Personally, while the added flavor was a welcomed surprise, I still couldn't deny I am a mango purist. But if you like a well done mix of flavors, then this is the one for you. 8/10 read more

They don't add food color like other restaurants and the paneer itself feels home made. Other favorite is Chole and Bathura! The best ones in Bay Area.
