The only thing I have ever eaten there is the Sampler, which is Amazing! Highly recommend it. It comes with Calamari, popcorn shrimp, seafood balls, & queso-- (always add the crab to your queso). There are usually good drink specials too. The frozen margaritas are strong. The service is lacking, but being I just go there for an appetizer and drinks it usually doesn't impact my experience too much. This place does get packed & very busy. I've visited Sam's Boat quite a few times now and all I can really say is that it is an 'OK' place. For it's location here in Towne Lake, you would think you'd have some decent service but majority of the time I would give the waitstaff here a C-minus. The reason we continue to come back if mostly due to the decent food and great drink specials. I usually get the wing appetizer as my meal, Lemon Pepper to be exact. On Mondays they have $.50 wing nights, good deal! The drinks are decent, on Wednesday they have $4.00 margaritas. I will admit however if you're coming just for the drink special if its not a draft or bottled beer expect your drink to be a bit on the weak AF side. One time I even had to ask the waitress if they even put any liquor in my drink. The place is packed on weekend nights but pretty slow during the week. There is both seating indoor and outdoor overlooking Towne Lake. It's a cool hangout place if you're not looking to get dressed up to go to a place like next door, Jaxtons. read more

See the entire time I was there I told myself that I would not review this place until after it's been open for at least a month. But... it's been on my mind since I left so I'm going for it. Let me be very clear here. I like this place. I like it because it's a great location and much needed for the area. I like it cause the owner is not only cool but has a vision for this particular Sams to separate it from the more popular one on Richmond. Speaking of, let me get this out of the way for any Richmond location fans. Do not expect this location to be anywhere like the Richmond location. Don't get me wrong, it's not a "bad" thing its just different. Where Richmond concentrates on that fun, sexy people watching crowd, this one "clearly" isn't about that at all. This one it seems to steer more towards families. Zoooooomm!!! Did you hear that? That was a lot of singles running from this place. Wait.. na nah na nah na!!! That there was the inner loopers teasing saying there was nothing fun to do in the suburbs. Where I don't agree with the inner loopers, the feel of this place does kind of support their belief. This Sams Boat is more of a laid back and chill with a few neighbors or friends and hang out not to far from the house and get some good decent drinks and food by the lake and although I can do it in my back yard I feel the need to get out and socialize without the hassle of inviting people who say that have other crap planed but you end up running into them there kinda vibe. Like all Sams Boats the frozen Margaritas are kind of a fail. Clearly a mix vs how they should be which freshly made with fresh limes and agave. All Sams Boat need frozen rita lessons. The mixed drinks are actually a good pour and pretty good. The beer is brought to you in little brown paper bags. Someone clearly got some ghetto experience in that place and it's actually cool to see a restaurant do that. Very funny too. The wings are tasty for sure and thank God they aren't the huge injected wings that remind you of a chicken with breast implants. Order the extra crispy and you will enjoy. And no they don't charge for the "all flats" order. I did notice that the veggies for all the dishes I seen that pass by seem to have been prepped too far ahead of time so it lacked the crispiness and shine that one would expect in freshness. This I"m sure will be rectified as the weeks pass and the training kicks in. Okay now this is important. Although they don't like to see themselves as a sports bar, I'm calling it one. Large TVs everywhere including at booths and restrooms is a sport bar. I totally dig the TVs everywhere which makes it a great spot to hangout during sporting events. It's kid friendly with a play area outside so it makes this the only sports bar I've ever been to that I would actually feel comfy bringing my kids. The feel of it is clearly family friendly too. Kind of like a Chili's on the Lake. The waitstaff is mostly young ladies and the dress is very acceptable. All that visited my table where nice and friendly however I recommend they get more like the other Sams where not only the waitress that is assigned to your table helps you but others come by as well. There were times my group was awaiting service whilst others were just standing taking up space. Again, I expect that to get better after more training as I was there on the very first day of opening. They also don't have a DJ like the other Sams Boat which I totally hope they get. As it is right now all I heard was country music playing which isn't a representation of all things suburban. So why am I giving it 4 stars? I like the feel of it. I like the idea of it. I like the location. I like that it's smoke free, I like the long happy hour from 11 AM to 8 PM and I like I can go during the day if I want and bring the kids. They also have jenga and bag toss outside. I also gave them 4 stars in hopes of the other improvements. So why not 5 stars? Need more mix in music. They stop selling alcohol at 12 in fear people won't drink and drive (like that will help...NOT) and in 2016 they have no place to charge devices. Keep a pouring and Prosper. read more

Came here and was pleasantly surprised. This place has a lot lower rating, but I wanted to give it a try since I did enjoy their other location at Fountain View and Richmond. We were greeted and immediately seated. It was a lot busier than compared to the other restaurants at Towne Lake. I had the margarita. It was your typical margarita, nothing really special about it. You could easily make it at home. Most people were drinking beer, but I was not in the mood. The food came out fresh and out. It was flavorful and our waitress was very attentive. So I'm guessing that the two stars came from Victor "the general manager", as which he made sure to repeat over and over. So me and my business partner come here pretty much daily, we spend anywhere from $200-$250 daily. We have a certain drink that we get and we know exactly what we're charged for over the past six months we've been charged the same amount. Today we had those same drinks. Which Victor said to charge us for patron. So it came out to $468 between two people in a matter of an hour and a half. So they claimed 28 shots of patron in an hour. Which...is very far fetched. 14 shots a piece in one hour, we would've been on the floor. Victor tried avoiding us and putting it in his server. We requested for him to come up to us, he finally came up and explained that he was the general manager and that we were going to pay what he told us we need to pay. He said "that's the price and that's what you'll pay, I'm the gm and I'm the one saying the price", sorry Victor but you're wrong and you knew it. That's why we paid the 226. Victor was extremely rude and told us that he pretty much didn't care that we frequented the establishment and we could go else where. Victor doesn't need to be a gm. I almost didn't come here due to the overwhelming number and consistency of terrible reviews. I am so glad I ignored them because my wife and I had a great experience here. We sat at the bar and the staff was on point ( good teamwork) , the food was delicious and quick plus the drinks on special. I had the shrimp and grits while my wife ate the beef tacos and both of us thoroughly happy with the food and service. Give this place a chance, I'm sure some people have had bad experiences but I can say they seemed to really have their service and kitchen on point. Not going to comment on the food since its bar food. The daily specials and happy hour deals are solid and IMO that's the time to hit this place up. I am a fan of some of the dishes at Sam's Boat. Others are not so great. Things I co-sign: 1) boiled crawfish, 2) crawfish etoufee, and 2) the shipwrecked chicken with Mac and cheese. These dished are good. Skip the expensive fish with sauce topping...they are wrong. They only give you two tablespoons of sauce for really big pieces of fish. It's a joke. But, anyway, I went for lunch today and I didn't hate it. Our server was actually pretty great. I ordered the mixed grill plate with grilled chicken and shrimp and my 2 sides were the red potatoes and wedge salad (which I paid extra for). The shrimp (only got 2) was average. The chicken was a tiny bit rubbery. The potatoes were good but HUGE-too huge for me to eat it all. The wedge salad was honestly the best part of my order. I only drank water. I don't think it made me want to go back again any time soon. It wasn't horrible, by any means. It just wasn't anything spectacular. My friends all agreed with my review. read more

It's Friday night, and we were able to be seated in 20-30 minutes. Okay not too bad. Our server came shortly, but immediately told us after she brought our drinks that the kitchen was backed up so there was a temporary "freeze" in taking orders so they could catch up. She said it would take 10 minutes before she could take our order. Weird, but okay. Almost 30 minutes go by, and she hasn't come back. We had to flag another server down. She said she'd take our order and give it to our server because she can't find her. She starts taking our order, when our server comes back. She doesn't even speak to us directly, but just tells the other server there's still a "freeze" in the kitchen and rushes off. At this point, we decide to just leave. The other server, who didn't even know about this freeze apologizes to us. There seems to be no communication between staff. Why would you still seat people if you can't take any more orders in the kitchen?! Also, have the decency to come back and check on us from time to time. Could've at least offered chips and salsa or something that doesn't require cooking so we aren't just sitting there starving, waiting just to order food. Comedy of Errors Sam's Boat Towne Lake is consistent...consistently terrible. Every time I have patronized this establishment since it opened a year ago, it is the same story. Here is today's story. We ordered 2 draft beers, one water, a dozen oysters and 2 root beer floats. We asked the waitress (very sweet, brand new) if we could have the 2 root beer floats split into 3 glasses because we have three small children. She said she would ask. 5 minutes later I get my water. 15 minutes after I get my water we finally get our beers and are told that, no, they can't split the 2 floats up, but they can bring 3 to go cups out at the same time. Which is fine. 15 minutes later we receive our oysters, 1 float, and 3 to go cups. I asked for crackers and assumed the second float was coming. The waitress brought our crackers and then that was it. She was very good about checking on us, but we never received the second float. We were planning on ordering more food and drinks, but we waited so long that we decided to just get our check and go home. We would have easily spent twice as much had everything arrived in a more timely manner. The waitress informed us that they comped one of our floats (well, I should hope so since we never received it). While we were waiting I heard her telling the other couple that they were out of beignets (they are commonly out of food, wine). To top off this debacle, the floor below the tables were disgusting. We had cigarettes, food, and colors below our table. The employees cleaning the tables need to be told to clean on top and below. Bottom line, I don't blame our waitress (she was very nice), but the management for not training her and the other employees properly. It is obvious they know this is occurring because anyone can go look up the consistently bad yelp reviews. I live in Towne Lake and am disappointed that I can't enjoy a restaurant so close to my house that has the potential to be great. It has a great location, patio, and the food is decent.
