I should have come here first! I lost an hour at the Sam's Club on Market Street, where unfortunately my experience with the manager was very disappointing. I'm so glad I gave Sam's Club on Gilbert Road another try. The staff and manager here are absolutely wonderful. Bernie in the tire shop is a wonderful lady. She hooked me up with a Sam's plus membership and saved me over $140 additionally on for a set of four tires that I needed. plus just without the Sam's Club plus discount their pricing for tires was $174 less than the local Big O tires and discount tire tires in the area. If you need tires I would go to this location and talk to Ponce or Bernie. These employees exemplify the sign on the wall dedicated to providing legendary customer service. The cafe is really slow. There were people waiting to order. Then, there were people waiting for their orders. I saw that they also had to refill the yogurt machine too. I think other places are faster for getting frozen yogurt or ice cream. Low stars for the cafe. Better stars for the store itself. They need more cafe employees I guess. I just heard that they are out of pepperoni and they are out of cheese. Glad I didn't order pizza. Canceling an order causes your refund to not come until 3 days later. They didn't turn the scan and go off either. Other customers are upset and left only to have to return to pick up their food later. I would not get a Sams club card and I would cancel my membership if this was my first Sams club experience. read more

I want to begin by saying that the store itself is consistently clean and well-maintained, and the employees I have interacted with are always polite and professional. I truly appreciate the effort of the staff. That being said, my reason for giving 3 stars comes down to two areas of concern: 1. Food Court Staffing: The food court is consistently very understaffed. From what I've observed, the workload and stress placed on the employees seem unsustainable, which likely contributes to the high turnover rate in this department. This environment not only makes it difficult for staff to succeed but also creates a frustrating experience for customers who often face long waits. Employees are left to handle demanding tasks while dealing with a wide range of customer personalities, some of which are unfortunately rude or disrespectful. These workers deserve more support, whether through additional staffing, better scheduling, or other resources to help alleviate the pressure. 2. Gas Station Traffic Flow: The current traffic flow at the gas station is very problematic. Allowing cars to enter from every direction creates unnecessary congestion, confusion, and even blocked traffic. A more structured system that directs all vehicles to enter the same way would improve safety, efficiency, and the overall customer experience. I've attached photos to illustrate the traffic issue more clearly. I share this feedback in hopes that corporate management will review these concerns and consider improvements. We ordered cupcakes for our daughter's 4th birthday. Online, the two colors we chose looked like different shades of pink--perfect for her Princess Peach-themed party. But when I picked them up, one of the shades was clearly orange... how could I bring orange cupcakes to a pink princess party?? Casey, who was working in the bakery, asked to see my order and immediately agreed that the colors on the app looked pink. Even though all the cake decorators had already left for the night, he went above and beyond to fix the issue. He personally decorated a new set of cupcakes in light and bright pink to save the day. I placed a pick up order two days ago and picked a pick up time between 10-11am. I do pick up orders all the time at the Tempe location and it is one of my favorite parts about Sam's Club. I show up at 10:35 and my order is still not ready for pick up. So naturally, I call the store. The guy that picks up is so rude. He proceeds to tell me there are 15 orders ahead of mine despite the fact that it is ONE cake and the order was places two days ago. He tries to put the blame on me and then says the pickup crew is 20 minutes behind schedule, but the order should have been done by 10, and at 10:40 and the order is still not ready. I get things happen, but then I ask well when will it be done and the guy goes "when they get it done." Ok cool. He then goes "yup" and just rudely hangs up on me. Sorry Gilbert Sam's, you lost me! We signed up for membership online and visited the Gilbert store when we went to the membership/customer service desk. We were "greeted" by a very surly woman who did not seem to even look at us, while processing our membership in a very robot-like fashion. Never once did she say thank you, anymore than forgetting to say something like, "Welcome to Sams Club" or even, "Good Morning, how can I help you?". After our processing, I said to my wife c'mon lets get out of here and cancel online. She said that now we are here I am curious to try their USDA prime steaks (which was the reason we joined). We did just that, and on checking out we had a very friendly helpful person assist us, which was a total contrast to our experience with CS. A few days later I saw something online to the effect that Sams Club offer a $30 credit on purchases if bought using their credit card. Funny that, as the CS rep did ask ,"Do you want a credit card?" to which I replied "No thanks". At no time did she mention anything about the credit card reward. Anyway, back to the USDA Prime steak. We had separated and frozen them and defrosted one about a week later. It was tough and chewy and lacking in flavor, although edible, but that was it! The USDA choice we had been buying at Bashas was definitely much better. At this point we have not tried any of the other meat we bought but when we do we will try marinating it first, which should not be necessary with Prime. On the plus side, we were very impressed with the self check feature, something Costco should look at. read more

The selection is massive, the prices on alcohol almost suspiciously good, and with Scan & Go, checkout is quick enough to make you forget you're warehouse shopping. DO NOT USE CURBSIDE PICK-UP! I have had 3 bad experiences in a row. First time had to wait over 30 min for pick-up. Second time had to wait 20 min to even park to only wait another HOUR (yes, an hour and 20 min to pick-up order!)! This 3rd time, my order was set to be ready 7 to 8 tonight.... well, it is still "in progress" at 7:26 pm and the store closes in 34 min! No answer from the phones! No customer service!!!!! Wow! I got a membership for Sam's for $3 so I decided to give it a shot. For a small family like mine this place is over kill. I will say this location is far less crowded than both Costcos in the E Valley. Still, it is crowded and a stressful experience. Yes $5 rotisserie chickens are awesome but not when there is a line literally 30 humans deep for it. Unlike Costco the aisles are labeled. If you have a big family in the East Valley go to Sam's. Buying in bulk will save you money. If you don't and value your time, avoid. read more

This is one of the oldest at Sam's Club locations in Phoenix. Little on the dingy side inside. It is always extremely busy. I will stop here to get gas on occasion too. There's never a good time to stop for gas. It is always busy. And to add to the frustration levels there's always at least one pump that is not working. Not sure if they just don't want to upgrade their technology or if they just don't care. As far as Sam's clubs go this is a very average location. read more

There was plenty of parking at this place, and getting in and out of it wasn't too bad considering they are still doing all the roadwork down Gilbert; when will it ever end! This is an older Sam's from all outside appearances and from the inside it isn't nearly as big as some of the other locations, but maybe that's just my impression. They always seem to have everything I need at this location however, and for some reason I can't fathom they are never as busy as you would expect from a Sam's, so getting in and out fairly quickly isn't typically a problem. read more

Im not the type of person who complains about everything but I havent had my membership for a full day yet and all these issues have already occurred. Customers arent their fault I understand that, but on top of dealing with that in this store, I waited over 20 minutes on 4 different calls trying to talk to an employee just to be hung up on each time. Tried to get gas with the app because I was told physical cards arent printed anymore and it just wouldnt accept my payment, whether it was the app or putting my card into the gas pump. I think I might just stick with costco cause even though they have basically the same issues at the very least you can find someone to try and help you with your issues. Called The optical center because I hadn't gotten a call about my contact order in over 2 weeks. The phone rang and rang and rang for over 15 minutes before someone finally answered. They lost my order for contacts and now they will not be in for another 10 business days. So now I'm out of contacts and screwed because of their screw up and they didn't even offer a sample set or any solutions. Have had good luck with this center in the past, but this has been horrible customer service. Will probably be taking my business to Costco. read more

I have been going to this Sam's Club optical since about 2016 and this review is in 2024. I have had excellent experiences every time. The staff and docs are great. My prescription is always accurate. The staff has done a great job of communicating consistently and accurately. I've had the best experience with Sam's Club staff making glasses recommendations and doing fittings. I realize the customer service at these warehouse businesses is limited. But, that being said, it was totally unavailable at this Sam's store this weekend. They were busy. I get that. But when one of their employees is walking behind someone struggling in a wheelchair the store provides, and the employee just plays on the phone instead of offering to assist, it seemed a bit uncaring and disrespectful of the member. Another member offered to help and did so very nicely. Helped push the wheelchair to the handicapped parking area and helped unload the baskets and returned the wheelchair to the store. I can't explain how grateful I am to this person or how disappointed I am in the employee response to the member struggling to get out of the way of the lunch crowd and get to the door and out. Love Sam's. Hate most deliveries. 2 deliveries Jan 10th. Both fairly heavy boxes left directly blocking my front door! Why can't the driver place packages beside the door?? Even behind the pillar there? Amazon packages are left there. Depends on the driver. There's no point in calling. I've tried. There is no way to control the driver doing a good job. I really only have a specific issue that has left me very concerned about renewing with Sams Club. I got a trial membership and have been turning down the renewal of it, because it's just not worth the money to me. MY membership paid for on MY card. my mom has an add on card and buys her own things on her card when we go (always together). Every time at the register, we select "no" to renewing. Well, today, mom goes in and finds that they have pulled MY membership fee from HER account with absolutely NO AUTHORIZATION to do so. The only way they could have gotten her info is from when she shopped there. I will say that the manager/lead was AWESOME and gave us the refund in cash, as this was going to cause mom to be overdrawn. But couldn't explain to me how this happened. TIRE DEPARTMENT If I could give this a - I would! We called ahead today to determine if they had the tires we wanted and if we should bring a second car and come back for the truck we needed new tires for. We were told yes they had the tires and no wait! So we went ahead, arriving at 4 pm. There were a two in front of us when we got there, but that's to be expected! Hubby waited paid and set the order and we briwsed the store while we waited the 30 min to put the tires on. AND we waited and waited!!! There was only us and one other older couple waiting with both our vehicles in the bays. My husband heard them take other calls stating they were busy and couldn't take other cars. We could tell our truck was finished, but they dawdled around like they wanted it just to "show" they were busy so they didn't have to take other customers. LAME!! When it approached about 5:55 the guy squeezed the tires as he brought it out of the bay! Really!! He's a tore guy and HE squeals the customers tires right out of the bay in front of them!! Meanwhile inside, they have the door locked and you can not exit unless they unlock it! The manager of the department (I wish I had gotten his name!) was a jerk from the beginning till we exited. Then telling us we couldn't take our merchandise thru that door making my husband again walk around to the front and I picked up the truck and walked him around. We had our receipt for the ONE item we purchase in the TWO hours of browsing! Less than white-glove shopping experience!! THIS is why Discount Tire has always been our tire store!! read more

Clean, Organized, Well Stocked Store! This Sam's Club is really clean! I like that the staff seems to keep it all stocked and organized to make shopping easier. I really like the Sams APP that allows you to scan your own items as you put them in the cart and pay without standing in long lines like at Costco where you wait 30 minutes in line to pay. This puts SAMS ahead of the game by a mile in my book! I really like the Red Pepper Hummus here, it is awesome! Anyway, not sure what else to say about this place...
