After doing some shopping at Sam's, my wife and I decided to get some food at the cafe. The line had about 7-8 people waiting so we decided to order with the app. I had not used the scan & go to purchase something from the cafe. I found it an easy straightforward process. We were able to get our food before we would have placed our order! The food was good for being fast food. Now if Sam's could add a dressing room to try on clothes and therefore avoid returning items, that would be great! read more

I mainly use Costco but when the opportunity came to join Sam at a greatly reduced rate, I figured "why not"? The big attraction I saw was the ability to save on gas when we travel as it seems we come across more Sam's Clubs than Costco when traveling. (One of our cars uses premium which is often $.40-75/gallon less than local stations. At that rate, it wouldn't take long to break even. So we joined and toured the store. To put it in hotel terms, Sam's is a Day's Inn and Costco is a Marriott or Hyatt. Just my opinion-the store doesn't seem clean. Merchandise is piled haphazardly, the meats looked horrible and while many of the brand name foods appeared fine, (i.e. Heinz Ketchup) I could not imagine buying anything more than gas or some type of hard goods (i.e. furnace filters) at Sam's. I enjoy all the samples at Costco and have actually had lunch on samples. Again, nothing where there was open food seems appealing or clean. We did buy a couple items and here is where the nightmare began. Once you pay, there are two aisles to exit. They fill up quickly. Like Costco, Sam's checks receipts but they go one step further by randomly scanning items in your cart. It took us nine minutes to exit the store after paying as the scanning device either wasn't working properly or they found a problem with customers in front of us. No way to get out! Unless I really see the gas advantage, this will become a cheap, one year experiment. read more

Well stocked location with an attached gas station that normally at a significantly lower price than other stations. The workers are normally friendly and helpful- but just like a lot of places- they seem short staffed. Have patience with the checkout lane- unless you have the free app that takes a job away from a potential cashier and lets you ring up your own stuff for no discount. read more

Received l 6 boxes of 6 to 8 cans each. 4 of the boxes had all dented cans in them. The cans weren't damaged in shiping but clearly dented cans that had been put in to open boxes. Obviously, boxes of previously dented cans!!!! That's beyond beleif any company would send those to a customer. Unacceptable behavior to say the least. And the last thing I will ever get from Sams Club. read more

It does get very busy especially on Saturdays. We are not always pleased with selection as we just get used to buying certain items and then they are gone from the store. We still shop there and have great interactions with the staff here. We have never had any issues with them and have generally found them to be very professional and helpful. read more

Every Sams Club's employee's should be required to take a course and the instructor should be the lady who helped my wife and myself.I was treated so poorly at the Muskegon Michigan branch I was in the process of canceling our membership.This was an ongoing occurrence.We tried to shop on 2 different days in Muskegon an both days the service was terrible.I wanted to know if this was how ALL Sams Clubs were.With that in mind we drove to two other locations (Not close to our home) The Alpine branch and the Kentwood branch.The Alpine branch was great, the reaction time an friendliness of the employees were ok but overall we are very satisfied with our experience.I have NEVER been to Kentwood and the first impression made on my wife and myself blew me away.The sales lady who helped us really restored my faith in Sams Club.She was over to the Jewelry Department to help us in the fastest time ever.I never advocate for a person to get a pay raise for doin the job they were hired to do I strongly suggest that the lady who helped me an my wife be given a promotion an pay raise.I cannot put into words the feeling she gave us while shopping she was not rushing us or irritated with our decision making process she actually made it easier to decide.She went above an beyond the service I was expecting and was THE BEST Sam's Club associate I have come across thus far an might be one of the best cashiers in the retail business in Michigan.Sam Club needs to celebrate employees like her. read more

Just like the other warehouse store, this one gets busy (especially on the weekends)! The lines for checking out where not long & they have a self scan which I like to use because I can check out much faster! If you like samples, they offer some on weekends (not as many as the other warehouse store) but good luck trying to get one, seems how there is typically a line for them. They have a wide selection of products, including some Organic. One thing I did notice is that identical items that are sold at both Sam's Club & Costco, Sam's Club are normally (if not always) cheaper. Sam's Club membership is also cheaper. Most of the Sam's has a gas station too, which is almost always cheaper then anywhere else (including Costco most of the time)! Sam's accepts normal credit cards (unlike Costco) which is why I shop here more (not to mention the prices are cheaper too!). read more

This review is for the tire center. These guys are busy, especially in the winter as most people wait until the last minute to get new tires. I'm guessing like anywhere else these days, it's likely difficult to get people to work here. Anyhow, if you can plan ahead, you should, however we had a warranty issue. GR Potholes are hard on tires so we couldn't plan this one. We stopped in to order the replacement tire and we ordered an extra one so the wear would match. When it came time to get them installed, they found a screw in one of our other tires that wasn't fixable so they ended up warranting that tire as well. Our morning ended up costing us much less than we had planned. Here's what I suggest. Go in, the earlier the better. They open at 7. Get out of bed and go. Don't call, you may never get anyone on the phone and the customer service desk at this location is not so good at helping out either. Be pleasant to the workers, even if they seem a bit gruff & be patient as they put a high volume of folks through here that all want their tires today. They will be fair in return. read more

This is definitely the younger less attractive brother of Costco. The staff are not as friendly, the place is not as clean and the items offered are less varied. It is ok, but 1/2 mile away is an oasis. Take the extra second to deal with the traffic by Costco read more

Pick-ups take forever so that's a huge downside of this location, however, they have a gas station so it'a the worth drive.

This the worst Sams Club I have ever encountered. i called today to check on an item. After 10,000 rings someone finally answered. I asked my question and she puts me on hold. I waited for a several minutes and finally just hung up. I actually called back to ask for a store manager to complain but the same thing happened. So why bother. This is why I like Costco better. I used to be a member of both Costco and Sams and had to make a choice since they sell similar items. It came down to customer service. Employees at the Kentwood Sams come across as uncaring and disinterested with their customers. If they are trying to attract membership this seems to be counter-intuitive. read more

A few months back I went to Sams with my two small children and a broken shoulder. I went to the "help" desk to have someone help me get a power washer. The lady told me to get one of those industrial carts, meet them in the aisle, but I would have to load it in my car myself. My arm is in a sling, I look at the woman and say, "ma'am I have a broken shoulder, I'm unable to lift that." She replied that they were "too busy." I packed up my kids and left. Spent $300 on a power washer somewhere else. Decided to give them a 2nd chance and bought a $1400 swing set from them. Open the box and had numerous pieces missing, had to call a company to have them put it together due to all the missing pieces. read more

Sam's Club is a huge disappointment. The way they treat the people that work there that are not at the top of the clique is awful! It is a lot like high school and wonderful good workers are fired and written up when they are not liked no matter how good of workers they are. There are some very rude people that work there but they are managers! These are the people that should be helpful! It is not the people working but Sam's Club that is failing when they do not have enough people working! read more

This is by far the worst Sam's Club I've come across. Purchased almond milk that was over two weeks expired. Returned it and they didn't apologize for the inconvenience. If I wanted expired goods I'd shop at a damaged goods store. The customer service line is typically a ten minute or more wait. Wish I had gone with a Costco membership. read more
