I visited Sam's today. The cashiers need to be more professional instead of being rude and dismissive. Today, I was assisted by an older gentleman working as a cashier; he spoke to me rudely, essentially telling me--in a very unprofessional manner--to place my items on the counter so he could ring them up, even though that is *his* job. He did the exact same thing to my mother; when he checked her out, he was incredibly rude and racist. He didn't hand her the receipt or her membership card directly; instead, he just left them sitting on the counter for her to pick up herself. They need to hire people who actually enjoy working--not elderly individuals who are rude and inconsiderate. read more

One Star!!!...I love shopping at Sams until about 3 weeks ago I had my iPhone 15pro stolen from me. Yes! stolen not lost... I brought it up to management and customer service and they were nonchalant. Their response was well any items lost will be kept into a lock box and brough to customer service. I left my info tracked my phone which says its located in the vision/hearing center. In that location is the pharmacy, which has been closed for quite some time...My phone is suddenly turned off therefore tracking has been limited. No calls to date from the store. I followed up no luck. Anyways it was an expense for me to have my phone replaced. My opinion, I feel that management should at least assist by reviewing their cameras. I have been shopping there for over 5 years with an executive membership that that pulls in over three hundred annually...You know I really shop there and online... While waiting on the rotisserie line yesterday, to overhear a person saying her phone was stolen from her shopping cart... Same experience as me. We signed up for a plus membership so that we could use curbside pickup & free shipping. My mother is 90 years old and medically vulnerable so I do everything possible to protect her, hence curbside pickup. We have been experiencing issues with produce for several months (please see photos) and each time I have called for a credit I have filed a complaint and shared these photos with Sam's Club customer service to no avail. I finally wrote to someone in Corporate and she in turn told the store manager (Jesse) to contact me. He sent me a message and gave me his cell phone number, when I texted him and told him I had photos I wanted him to see, he asked me to send them to his cell as well, he has been communicating with me via text since then. He told me he was looking into the situation and asked that I provide specific dates & invoice numbers for the products in question. I agreed to do so but asked for a work email address as it is much easier for me to send an email rather than trying to text all of that information. That was several weeks ago (October 25th) and was the last time I heard from him. He never even offered to give me a credit for the slimly, orange Iceberg Lettuce. I think this speaks volumes as to why we have been experiencing so many issues with curbside produce orders, the store management simply does not care. We have been loyal Sam's Club customers for nearly three decades, but apparently that doesn't make any difference, we are extremely disappointed with how this situation has been handled and don't appreciate having our time wasted or being sold rotting produce on a regular basis. read more

"Red and white, blue suede shoes, I'm Uncle Sam, how do you do?" (Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter) When we saw a Groupon for reduced membership to Sam's Club, well that was an offer we couldn't refuse. At one time or another we've belonged to B.J.'s Wholesale Club or Costco, so we thought it would be interesting to go for the Triple Crown of big Membership box stores. We knew exactly where Sam's was, and if you've ever been to Stew Leonard's in Newington, you know too -they pretty much share the same parking lot. But that got me to thinking, where else are Sam's Club around here? I figured there'd be another one in a big shopping area like North Haven or Manchester or Enfield or maybe near metro Springfield. I was wrong -I wasn't even close. The Sam's in Newington is the only one in Connecticut and the next closest one to me is 62 miles away in Kingston, NY. Our visit to Sam's started with a stop at the service desk where we exchanged our e-mails for proper membership cards. That transaction went smooth as glass -the woman we dealt with was super competent and friendly and moved us along promptly. Next we hit the aisles and walked through the place - Grocery, Home, Electronics, Household, Health and Beauty, Toys, Auto, Clothing.... on and on and on. Eventually our cart had eight items - two sushi trays ($5.98 and $8.98) for lunch, a case of blueberry-lemon drinks ($5.91), a big bag of frozen mixed seafood ($12.78), a big box of 36 individually packaged rice cake snacks ($14.13), a maple dressing salad mix ($2.98), a packet of waffle cookies ($5.78) and a three pound rotisserie chicken ($4.98). The chicken was great - it yielded two meals for us three times - the first was a topping for that salad mix, then as a dinner with potatoes and Brussels sprouts, and finally as a main ingredient in a Chicken and broccoli stir fry. We were pleased with our first visit to Sam's- variety was huge, pricing was reasonable, the store's layout and aesthetics were fine, and the employee service was very good. Combining visits to Sam's with Stew Leonard's seems like a solid strategy we'll be adopting going forward. read more

That location is more like Costco or BJ's for me when it comes to selection of food to choose from including prepared meals, bakery items and more. They ran out of ice cream because the soft serve machine isn't working plus they didn't have Pizza Pretzels that are featured in food court menu. Some areas such as clothing department were blocked by carts for maintenance. They also don't have enough straws for drinks. That's a bit of shame for us trying to shop comfortably. I took advantage of a $45 new online membership deal that involved getting up to $45 free with my first purchase. I went to the courtesy counter to activate my membership and it went smoothly though a smile or kind word was not extended by the representative. One of my several stops thereafter was the pharmacy where the pharmacist was otherwise engaged so I talked to a second employee about the cost of a prescription medicine but she was clueless. I decided to return sometime in the distant future. Next stop was the Cafe where I was surprised to find it to be very compact with a very abbreviated menu in comparison to Costco (New Britain). I was not overly impressed by the seafood offerings nor any of the in-house prepared food items though the prime steaks looked like to be of decent quality. Cheese offerings were quite limited in comparison to Costco (New Britain) as were the samples being offered. My primary purchases ended up being Charmin that was on sale, creme brulee and a rotisserie chicken. I also stopped in the adjoining liquor department which was comparable to BJ's (Southington), both being very limited in comparison to Costco's. My final stop was the gas station which was congested, but the price per gallon turned out to be actually higher than on the nearby Berlin Turnpike. Needless to say, I won't be terminating my Costco membership any time soon. read more

Sam Club was busy yesterday the parking lot but inside was pretty okay. Been here several tine I was disappointed that my Ivory Deodorant wasn't there but I was impressed by the broccoli salad; the cooked grilled chicken and the blueberries, cranberries, walnuts and bleu cheese salad they all worth the prices for each. There was a line and a lady said I will take the next on #2 I love that proactiveness let me help to get the lines down. The young man was very helpful in the vegetable area he was unloading tomatoes etc. later a coworker came to help him so he could take lunch. Kudos to you Betances she was very friendly as well. My friend order the gallon waters so we had to go to the back to pick them up and Reuben was very nice in help getting the waters on the truck. His Boss Vinny came out to assist him. Sams has gone so downhill over the years. The lines for the gas are nuts almost no matter what time you go. Here's a tip though. Get the Cumberland gas app, (free) link it your bank account and you get 10 cents off a gallon. With the 10 cents off the price is cheaper than sams and no wait. I get it that it's covid times but sams has been out of so many everyday products that all other stores seem to carry in one way or another. I ended up joining Costco just so I could get some items that sams seems to never. Personally I think its a scam. They want you to sign up for that plus membership get the free shipping then order the stuff online. They were out of paper towels in store for like 2 months, but they had them instock online. Pretty good place to get gas at a decent price and all the toilet paper and napkins that your heart desires. I have had a membership for several years now and it has saved Mark C and I money on our grocery bill for items that we use very often. Prices are pretty comparable to other area grocery stores. I agree with Donna S - since I am just shopping for 2 people some of the items are not really "deals" but we have been able to make the membership work for us. Sam's has recently added self check out lines which makes getting through check out easier which is especially helpful if you go on a weekend when the store gets pretty zooey. I suggest definately going to Sams with a list and clear idea of what you want or yes - you will come out with items that , when you get home you say "WTF" how did 10# of ribs that get in my cart. read more

I placed a pre-paid web order. I showed up at the Newington club to pick it up only to find that no one would come to the kiosk. After 15 minutes I went to the membership counter. The line was 13 people deep. I waited for 12 minutes and the line hadn't moved at all. Begrudgingly, I gave up... It takes 20+ minutes to get to the club, worse in the heavy rain. I waited, got no service at all, so I spent more than an hour to get no service at all, no order, and now I have to try to get a refund. I tried the chat feature on their site and the rep was even more worthless than the ones in person. To think Sam's charges me an annual fee for this. read more

They don't have enough people working there on weekends. You've got managers jumping on the few that are working to do ten things at once.Theres this older woman with blond hair. She stands in the front of the store with a younger woman. She barks out orders to the few employees who are working and most of them are already working on something. Disclaimer- I am not a member here, but had to work an event here as a vendor, during which time I had to interact with store management, employees, and purchase product for my event. After having previously worked many events at Costco, I can tell you that Sams Club is nowhere near Costco, at least in terms of customer service, in my opinion. The folks at Costco were well-organized, knowledgeable, helpful, and worked well together with a positive attitude. At Sams Club, even management seemed to have no idea what was going on, people were not very knowledgeable or helpful in regards to where products were located, and they did not have very good attitudes. I can't speak to what this place is like strictly as a shopper, but for the small amount of shopping I had to do here, and the interactions I had with both employees and managers, I was not at all impressed and would not choose to become a member based on my experience here. read more

They also advertise cheesy breadsticks which they do not have and deluxe pizza which they do not have! They have a highly-tuned team of associates that will ask you about an Advantage Plus membership again and again and again and again. By the time I leave there, I feel like I just sat through a timeshare presentation. Last time I went there, I complained to a manager. The last comment he had after he apologize for my complaint was..."uh...like...do you know how much an Advantage Plus membership can save you?" Look...I don't even know what an Advantage Plus membership is and it might save me a lot of money. It may be the best thing in the world. It may bring world peace and cure horrible diseases. It's worth the price of membership to go maybe once every month or every other month to stock up on what you need and that's it. No matter what time of day you go in there's always ten thousand people in line and maybe three registers open...if you're lucky. And of course everyone has their carts stacked up to the ceiling with items. You can definitely grow old quick waiting in line. The other negative is when you walk in they ask to see your membership card as if you're going through airport security or something. Who the hell cares if you're a member or not???! maybe you're walking around to decide if you want to become a member! Before I joined I did just that and the old battle-axe at the front door almost didn't let me in. God forbid someone tries to BUY something... sheeeesh. The staff overall is very creepy. I asked an associate for help with something once and the only thing he did was talk about how I looked familiar. Eventually I gave up and walked away. I bought a Samsung Blu Ray to get the Internet apps (like Netflix) without having to send a signal from my TV across the room to the TV. Nothing wrong with the Blu Ray except that Samsung doesn't support subtitles. So I took it back and got a Sony. No hassle at all. I had no receipt, they gave me a gift card and i was on my way. Friendly helpful staff and well organized store. On the way out I got a giant delicious hot dog and a huge drink for $1.50. Can't beat that. Why not 5 starts? I don't like the Waltons. The customer service here is the WORST. I called and asked if two different items were available. I was told no after the phone rang 11 times and then I was put on hold. I ended up at the store anyways later that day and guess what, both items were there! Horrible. I do like the items stocked and the prices are OK but this is probably why everyone is going to Costco now. read more
