I am writing to formally complain about an extremely disappointing experience at Sam's Club #6343, located at 9440 W. Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23294, regarding my scheduled tire appointment on September 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. I had a confirmed appointment to purchase and install four new tires on my Mercedes SUV. Upon arrival, I spoke with Mohammad, the Tire & Battery Center manager, who reviewed the cost with me and advised that the service would take approximately an hour and a half. Shortly afterward, another gentleman arrived with a BMW. I personally overheard the conversation indicating that he did not have a Sam's Club membership and needed tires. Mohammad himself made reference to the gentleman not being a member. At approximately 4:46 p.m.--46 minutes after my scheduled appointment--I returned to the tire area to check on my vehicle. My Mercedes had not been touched and remained in the same location outside. However, the employees were servicing the BMW that had arrived after me. When I questioned this, an employee who identified himself to me as "Ant" stated that the BMW customer actually had an appointment but was running late. This did not align with the conversation I had personally overheard when the gentleman arrived. Even assuming he had an appointment, he apparently arrived significantly late, while I arrived for my scheduled 4:00 p.m. appointment and was left waiting. What happened next is the primary reason for this complaint. Rather than attempting to explain the situation professionally or find a solution, Ant responded to me in what I experienced as a brash, dismissive, and rude manner. He told me that if I did not want to wait, I could simply take my vehicle. I found this response completely unacceptable. I was a paying Sam's Club member who had made an appointment, arrived as scheduled, and was purchasing four tires--a significant purchase. I was not asking for special treatment. I was simply asking why my scheduled appointment was not being honored. When I asked Ant for his name, he identified himself as "Ant." I informed him that I was recording our conversation, and he acknowledged that. When I asked to speak with a manager, he told me that I needed to call "1-800-Walmart." When I told him that response was unacceptable, he shrugged me off and walked away. I then went inside to Customer Service and requested a manager. An associate contacted Evelyn, who identified herself as a coach. Anthony approached her as I did. Evelyn then contacted Jarrett, whom I was told was the manager on duty. I informed both Evelyn and Jarrett that I was recording the conversation. During my conversation with Jarrett, I was particularly disturbed to hear him state that there had been numerous complaints about "Ant," whose full name he identified as Anthony. Jarrett further stated that Mohammad had covered for Anthony multiple times in the past and indicated that nothing could be done about the situation at their level. If that information is accurate, I believe it raises a much larger concern. If management is aware of repeated complaints concerning an associate's treatment of customers, why has the behavior been allowed to continue? I requested to speak with the Store Manager. Jarrett informed me that the Store Manager had already left for the day. When I asked whether he could contact him, Jarrett declined, explaining that the Store Manager was home, had worked all day, and had just put his children to bed. I asked multiple times whether the Store Manager could be contacted because the situation was unresolved, but Jarrett continued to decline. I understood the Store Manager's name to be "Verdon" or something similar. I want to be clear that my primary complaint is not against Jarrett. My primary concern is Anthony's behavior and treatment of me. However, I was disappointed that the manager on duty could offer no meaningful resolution or escalation beyond directing me to a telephone number. By approximately 5:10 p.m., more than an hour after my scheduled appointment, I still had no resolution. This experience fell far below what I expect as a Sam's Club member. I would also ask that any relevant store records--including the Tire & Battery Center appointment records and any available surveillance footage from approximately 3:45 p.m. through 5:45 p.m. on September 11, 2026--be preserved while this complaint is reviewed. I have been very specific with names, times, and details because I want this complaint to be taken seriously and investigated rather than treated as a general customer-service concern. read more

Sam's Club why did you do this to me? I stopped in to look for one thing and I walked out with over 20 things. And I did not come here for all these clothes that I walked out with. And have I been in a cave but when did this technology catch up where you can ring the things in your car and not wait in line? Once I got to the door yes you still have to be checked but that was quick. The store was clean, items were in all the right spots where they were supposed to be. And those that were standing in line it looked like they were getting out fast. But now I got to get back to the attitude, why did you guys sell me all of these clothes? I have really good experiences here. Always find what I need, everything is usually well stocked, and the employees are (mostly) helpful. I wouldn't recommend going with a toddler because hardly and if the carts have seat buckles to keep them safely secured in the cart. I would think a place like this would repair things like that. The aisles can be a bit crowded and shoppers like the block them instead of moving to the side. Otherwise, it functions as what it is! read more

Once again, a tax exempt order, so we had to use a human. It's nice to see that Sam's was properly staffed. They're very inconsistent regarding checks four the membership card at the door. It's necessary for checkout and gas purchase, but nowhere in the membership brochure does it say necessary for entry. How should people get their medicine from the pharmacy? It's been confirmed by the pharmacy staff that a membership card is unnecessary for pickup. read more

Overall Sam's is the best place to fill up for less (especially with the currently rising cost of gasoline). The inside is filled with customers and very busy. They do have many of the cleaning supplies that are limited in some of the other bigger stores. You can still order food but the tables are gone and dine-in is not permitted. Masks are required for customers and staff. I did notice that carts were not being wiped down consistently. read more

Went to Sam's club on April 22, 2023 to purchase items for a family dinner. We have family in from France and wanted to prepare a nice meal for our visitors. I purchased the crab stuffed salmon from the meat/seafood section. After cooking the salmon, we noticed a sour smell. My husband tasted the salmon and it was spoiled. Wanting a second option, I tasted the salmon and immediately threw it out. Imagine our embarrassment as we had to throw away the food, explain to our guest that there was an issue and figure out what to do next. A $60 order in Chinese food was placed for dinner to replace the spoiled salmon. Disappointed and embarrassed. read more

Sam's Club upgrade revenge trick - beware this nasty cashier's trick when shopping at Sam's Club. Upon checking out today, I was asked about upgrading for $9.99 - when I declined cashier was nice and polite and said she would have given a $10 gift card while scanning meat selection a second time. She actually looked at her screen and then used her wand to scan it again. I was curious as I had watched her scan it once already. Upon examining my receipt I noticed that she had indeed changed me 2x. I take it cashiers are paid a bonus on upgrading members and when I declined she took her "revenge" on me. The difference between Sams and Costco: Sams doesn't really care about customers. I purchased this dark chocolate thins to enjoy for Christmas only to discover they were stale after attempting to eat them. I returned them and alerted the clerks on 2 occasions. Can't believe they have this stale chocolate on the shelves after I told them last month the entire inventory was out dated. (1/2020) I buy this dark chocolate snack from them regularly, so I was extremely disappointed when I went back only to learn they hadn't turned the inventory. Found a similar snack at Costco dates 2/2021. It tastes fresh bEcause it is FRESH!!! CUSTOMERS: Please check the dates before you purchase any food items. Apparently Sams is not checking even when you notify them. Wasting my precious tIme returning items that never should have been sold. read more

This is a review of their tire and auto center. I booked an appointment a few days in advance to have my tires rotated on a weekend. Arrived a few minutes early and ended up waiting 2 hours to just have my tires rotated... I went out back and saw my truck was just sitting there unattended. Visited Sam's Club on Broad Street. The Customer service piss poor!!!! Waited in line for several minutes to check out. Another Sam's club representative comes to scan or check receipts. Of course rather than help the people waiting she starts to help people walking up behind us. Several of us ask if she could scan us or check us out. She clearly ignored us, so she goes to walk away. Leaving the customers that have been waiting for a while. I said " excuse can you help us" she ignored me after several attempts to get her attention. She continue to walk and I followed her and ask if she could help us. She never acknowledged me or looked at me. Finally she walks over scan the items in my cart and walks away. Now others are asking for her to help them she ignored them. This was one of my awkward experience. read more

My 76 year old mother shopped in the store on July 6, 2024. A cashier convinced her to apply for a Sam's Credit card, and advised her that there was a $95 fee to apply. After paying for her items, she accepted because she was told that she was approved and gave the cashier $100 bill, and she gave her $5 change. When my mother called to advise me of this transaction, I advised her that you should not pay for a credit card, and I disregarded it thinking that she may have increased her membership and that was the reason for the fee. Nevertheless, my mother received a letter from the credit card company on 7/14 and that was confirmation that she had applied for a credit card and that the cashier had manipulated my elderly mother and "stolen" her money. I immediately called the store and spoke with Sharonda, Shalonda or LaShanda who advised me that they would have the cameras reviewed and give me a call back. After not hearing form her I went to the store on 7/16 and spoke with a coach named Amed who also stated that he would review the cameras and give me a call back. After not hearing from him, I called the store again several times on 7/16 and was placed on a long hold. Finally spoke with a Coach Bobby who states that per the footage, the cash that the cashier had received from my mother was place in the $20 and that there was no recorded overage on the drawer that day, but does admit that the cashier left the register to obtain an ipad. In my opinion anything could have happened with the cash when she walked away from the register. I am trusting my mother, and will never allow her to shop there again. read more

I'm a recent convert to Sam's and I'm digging it so far. I joined after needing 4 new tires and not being able to find a place that had close to the same price. I ended up only having to wait for about 30 minutes on the weekend, which was fantastic. Since my initial tire visit, I've been back a handful of times and have been pleased. Being that I live alone there aren't a ton of things that I buy in bulk. But there are certain things I eat all the time that they carry. Some of the stuff they carry in the frozen section have been awesome and tasty for having people over whether for finger foods for a party (delicious egg rolls) or a nice meal with friends (frozen wild caught salmon with various seasonings). The self checkout is great. The Sam's Club app allows you to ring yourself up so you can avoid lines when it's busy! And who doesn't love the soft serve ice cream and pizza read more

Twice at check out a few weeks ago, the same clerk has pushed the button without my permisson to upgrade my membership for an extra $100 so I could shop at 7 am, which used to cost around $45 a year . Glad I didn't pay it since they currrently don't open until 9 am. Also, a few weeks ago one of their clerks was having a phone/cigarette break inside one of their sheds for sale which happens to be right by the main entrance. I am allergic to cigarette smoke. I am not renewing my membership with Sam's Club. I have tried to call their 800#, but nobody answers. Also, they have already closed some locations, so think twice about that $100 membership. read more

Your standard "members only" bulk buy warehouse store. The main difference with Sams club is that you don't have to be a member. You can use your friend/family's card and they don't check ID and you can shop there using the perks and discounts as a member. The actual store itself is about average size for a warehouse. They don't sell as many name brand items as Costco does, or at least, so I have heard. I would avoid the gas station on weekends and near holidays as it gets extremely backed up and the wait can be lengthy. Plenty of parking for all the customers and friendly associates. I actually came here specifically to get my tire patched up as it's free for all members, family and friends. It's a huge perk they offer their members along with some other things. read more

Sam's represents our periodic break from Costco. Sam's has a few things that Costco doesn't carry, many similar items, etc. It does seem (no empirical evidence) that equal items are either based similarly or for a bit more at Sam's. Sam's quality control also seems to be less stringent than Costco's. We may switch over to Sam's entirely, due to the impending change in credit card agreements at Costco. However, until that happens, Sam's will always be second in our hearts until then. read more

There are a couple of good people but if you have the misfortune of dealing with the manager or one or two more people, you are in for a rude awakening. So have you heard of this "Scan and Go" app at Sam's Club? Coolest thing ever! One of my complaints about being a member is the long wait at the front cash out. Problem solved... the app lets you scan and pay for your items right at the cart... anywhere in the store. Crazy! I've seen some complaints about the lines being long and the customer service and I will say my experience with Sam's club has been mixed. I don't really go there for the customer service but for the convenience of buying some of the important things I need in bulk and the app makes it so easy to just scan and buy so I can skip the lines ( so I suggest a lot of you complaining about lines get the Sam's club app so you can scan and go and stop complaining). I will say my only bad experience was with a greeter asking only me for my membership card but didn't ask anyone before or after me for the same thing. Just terrible. Yesterday I decided I was going to get a membership at whichever club was closest to me that had the cheapest gas. First I explored Costco, then went to Sam's club to find that they were equally priced. Since I was in the parking lot of Sam's club at that moment I called to get pricing and was immediately asked to hold. No problem. I would hold. Then she picked up again a little while later and asked me to hold. Ok, fine. She picked up AGAIN and asked me to hold. Sure. Then, she just answered and hung up the phone on me. Seriously?! I immediately had a flashback of my last experience with this club about 4 years ago and the staff was incredibly rude to me. So much so that I'd cancelled my membership right then and there. I see nothing has changed. You all can imagine which club I decided to get a membership with. My colleagues and I went to the food section and waited 10 minutes just to get service when there was a man in the section not doing anything. I asked for help but he just stared at me not helping or anything. So my colleagues and I had to wait for somebody new. To come and help out. After my bad service I will not be coming back and I will end my membership and go to costco. read more

We did pickup and did not get good service a young black women in her 20s came up to us and said to use that we would not be getting our groceries since we did not use the app we are elderly and my hubby did not know how to use the app so he called the store and she came out with an attitude and hand on her hip and said that if you do not use the app you will not get your groceries. yelling at us as she walked away after some time past a nice young black man name is Marlon that also worked their showed my husband how to use the app. .What if someone did not have a phone how could they use that app.?
