Mr. Sam is a friendly happy guy and so are the other family members that work there. I filled up a box full of different donuts and they were all good, fresh and flavorful. The only thing I didn't like is that they were a bit too sweet for me. I've been to many donut shops all over LA County and many are cutting back on adding too much sugar, which is a plus. read more

You're in Los Angeles--there's a donut shop every 60 feet. What makes this one special? It is family-owned and operated and they make everything themselves on site. Everyone I've ever spoken to there was incredibly kind and accommodating. There's a world of difference between a fresh still-warm homemade maple bar and the donut that was left under the lights at the next shop over for 3 days. Yeah, it may seem like just another donut shop in a little shopping market corner, but no, no, no... Sam's is the freshest, most fluffy, melt in your mouth donut in town! So this unassuming little donut shop actually has some really, really good sandwiches (and the folks are really, really nice, to boot). My whole family is sort of hooked on their croissant sandwiches (we usually get the tuna). First of all, the croissant is already so fresh and perfectly textured. Then all the "everything"s they layer the sandwich with all comes out very well balanced: a little creamy, a hint of sour, a glimmer of spice, decent crunch. I even find myself preferring it over Porto's croissant sandwiches, and that's saying a lot (i happen to be a huge fan of Porto's sandwiches). All the donuts I've tried here have been great (though I'm not a huge donut person, so take my word with a grain of salt here). Their smoothies and boba drinks are also a good addition as well. All in all, Sam's is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and we're very happy there here. We keep coming back here (and the kids get really excited whenever we do!) I hope to update this review as I try some of the other stuff in the future. read more

I came here based on all the great reviews. I bought 1 dozen donuts. The glazed raised donuts, donut holes, and old fashion were delicious. Light and fluffy and fresh tasting. The chocolate-raised, custard-filled, and jelly-filled were very dry and cakey. Almost like they were stale. I was very disappointed considering all the great reviews.
