Man O' man!! Thinking of this Donut truck makes my mouth water. I heard of this truck through instagram. I was wowed when I found about it. The first time I tried them was at Platinum Motorsports on Melrose. That morning there was PML quickstrike going on and for every donut pack purchase you would get a free PML t-shirt. I bought a pistachio and chocolate bacon donut that morning. I got a tingle on my cheek after taking my fist bite. IT WAS BOMBBIZZO!!!! Since then I've become a loyal customer to this Dream Donut Truck!! Driving from LA to the valley ain't no biggie! I recommended trying any of their donuts. Hello Yelpers, Dream Donut ... what?!? Yes, Donut Truck, and it is a hit! I'm hoping I can get this very cool-looking mini-truck to park in my driveway and stay there until I have to be removed by crane. Fortunately, the 4th Friday of every month is Food Truck Night in the City of Burbank (on Magnolia between Buena Vista and Hollywood Way; many of the shops stay open late too), and the DDT was there. To find it otherwise, check its facebook page ("dream donut truck") for a play-by-play list of truck stops. So worth it! Icing here is the bomb (not overly sweet, but still creamy), but it's the cake that makes the donut, amirite? The donut cake here is not too dense with a tasty and chewy dough. Donuts are sold in 2 or 4 packs; I got one of each (blueberry, pistachio, cookies and cream, black & white, a chocolate chip cinnamon bun donut that is mind-blowing, and more). $4 each so be prepared to make it rain at the DDT. All summer, I kept seeing posts about the about the D.R.E.A.M. Donut Truck on my Instagram. The pictures of the donuts were making my mouth water. One morning we were on the 405 frwy driving through west LA and I told my husband he had to exit because the Donut Truck was a mile away from the route we were traveling. We purchased a bunch of donuts to try. My favorite was the thin mint one. Imagine the greatest Girl Scout cookie transformed into a donut! It was so good it ruined me. I'll never have a plain thin mint cookie ever again. Why would I if I can have it in donut form instead? The rosetachio donut and the cinnamon chocolate chip roll surprised me. Although pistachios are my favorite I'm not a fan of rose water but I loved this donut. I'm also very tentative about cinnamon, but apparently when paired with chocolate chips and dough it's amazing! Now, I properly stalk the D.R.E.A.M. Donut truck and look to see where it's going to be any time we have to go out to LA. I'm looking forward to trying the cookie butter donut, the maple bacon donut,and the Nutella cinnamon crumb. read more

Love this truck! I get so excited coming to town hoping it'll be near by so I can go grab some donuts and chat it up with the owner (who's an awesome guy and LOVES HIS DONUTS!). They also cater events and the truck itself is the cutest size! Would be awesome to have them cater your next event! I'm a donut fiend so I love them allllll. There are two kinds of real estate in Los Angeles: expensive and ridiculous. The problem is, unlike with so many other industries, it's a seller's market. Which explains why a 1500 square foot, two bedroom/one bath house sells for seven figures because it's in a trendy zip code. And why a 600 square foot studio apartment rents for three grand a month because it's "walking distance" to the beach. It's the premium we pay for living in one of America's premier coastal cities. Yet that steep rate of inflation has weeded its way into buyer's markets as well, resulting in exorbitant prices for everything from cocktails to clothing. I remember walking into Fred Segal and seeing an ordinary tee shirt retail for $100. When I asked a sales associate if it was made of some kind of futuristic cotton, he was overwhelmingly unamused. I understand it wasn't the quality of the item, but the allure and prestige attached to the brand that justified the price and the purchase. What I can't understand is why people would pay such similarly steep rates for a fried piece of dough from Dream Donut Truck. Smaller than most food trucks I've ever patronized and operated by its gracious and enthusiastic owner, the selection he offered was appealing. He sold them in two packs for eight dollars and four packs for fourteen. Surprised by the cost, I willingly paid it in hopes of being awed by their awesomeness. I got the Homer Simpson inspired D'oh donut, which was standard-shaped with pink frosting and sprinkles, in addition to a Fruity Pebbles bar, fashioned like a long John and topped with vanilla frosting and, of course, the ever popular cereal. While the former was slightly larger than your average donut, the latter was regularly sized. And both were as regular and average as I've ever tasted. There was nothing about either of them that screamed homemade or handcrafted. Nothing that set them apart. Nothing that justified paying four dollars per donut. Sure, they were all right. Yes, I'm well aware that four-dollar donuts are as common in Los Angeles as ten dollar pints of ice cream. It's a price I'm more than happy to pay. I have actually followed them a few times taking my nieces and friends. Their blueberry donut, Rose water and pistachio, lemon and cookies n cream have ALL been amazing and tasty! One thing I will splurge on is specialty donuts (and cheese). So when I saw DDT was just down the street from me this weekend, I hauled over to try them out, and it did not disappoint. I got the maple chocolate bacon, the matcha old fashioned, and the lemonade. They were all fantastic, but I think the lemonade was my fave: lemon filling center and those lemon powdered Girl Scout cookies (I think) crushed on top. They were all so fresh and fluffy. I guess if there's anything to improve on, I'd say I love more maple than chocolate on bacon donuts, and this one was definitely more chocolate. But still amazing. read more

MIND BLOWN I took my family for quick weekend trip down to Los Angeles from San Francisco. The highlight of our trip was, without a doubt, our visit to the Dream Donut Truck. Ok, so I'll admit, my sweet tooth will always get me into trouble at this truck, BUT it's totes worth it. The truck comes to my office complex once a month or so and I typically buy 2-4 donuts to share with coworkers or my wife and they never disappoint. They have a maple bacon donut to die for, a Nutella filled glazed donut that's absolutely my favorite and a pistachio crusted glazed donut that I always have to get for my wife (so I'm assuming that's her favorite). The blueberry cake donut...super delicious...is thick and rich, cripsy on the outside soft on the inside. The cookies n cream is, simply put, delightful.
