Driving past here all the time, we finaly decided to stop in for lunch. It was 1pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. We were greeted immediately and told we could have a seat wherever we wanted. The table was clean as were the floors. The staff appeared friendly as they greeted customers and took orders. Our waitress wasn't as friendly as the rest and we weren't checked on after we got our food, but she was nice enough. We were also handed our check with our food which was a bummer as we were going to get dessert. I got the cheeseburger and onion rings. My son got the riblet dinner and cole slaw. Been here a few times and overall the food has been pretty good. Today I had the bacon cheeseburger. The meat quality and all the ingredients (tomato, lettuce, pickles etc) were fresh. They do not add any type of sauce, Mayo etc to the burger, they leave that up to you. The problem is once you take it apart, getting it back together. Best breakfast spot I know in the area. Everybody from the staff, to the cooks are amazing, personable and really make you feel like you're at home. My uncle goes there regularly, he even has his own coffee mug and they know him by his first name (think Norm from cheers!) That alone to me tells me that this is a great place to go and enjoy some home cooked breakfast. Don't forget, the barbecue platters are not that bad but overall, I enjoy this place for breakfast. Grabbed a Togo order this weekend on the way to the lake. Service was quick and courteous. I have to give a kudos to the staff- an entitled jack wagon came in refusing to wear a mask (against regulation and clearly posted signs) and they politely stood firm! The sauce was tangy & it didn't make a big impression like, "wow this sauce is good!" The sides were fresh & tasted homemade. The potato salad was very good- not too much mustard or mayo- just needed salt & pepper. With the "all you can eat", you receive 3 initial ribs, then 2 at a time. Since the ribs didn't have much meat (pretty fatty) ordered 2 more then wished I hadn't (full). For the price, it's hard to get that upset. I like the casual atmosphere, bathrooms were clean, friendly prompt service. I saw delicious looking burgers being served. I would definitely come back to try breakfast or a burger. Exactly what you would expect from and old time place. The interior is dated and goes well with the overall theme of the restaurant. The outside has dinosaurs that the kids all seemed to enjoy. The menu is standard, nothing that really pops out. The service was good. The pickle bar is a bit over rated. It has dill pickle slices, dill pickle spears, sweet pickle slices and jalapeños. That's it. They do have a decent burger with a nicely toasted bun, but it wasn't really great. My husband picked up a half rack of ribs. They are the best ribs I've had in Arkansas. They were delicious, lightly salted. Most rib places pour the salt on and I usually rinse them and put them in the slow cooker to cut the salt. Sam's were wonderful. I didn't care for their sauce but I always have BBQ sauce at home. We stopped in for Saturday lunch after a hike. The restaurant was moderately busy. The lady that greeted and seated us was pleasant and helpful. Our waitress? Not so much. She acted like we were putting her out by being there, our drinks were never refilled, and you didn't dare ask her a question about the menu. Our party ordered the French dip, mushroom-Swiss burger, Woo Pig Sooie burger and the brontosaurus burger. The French dip....not even close! Beside the fact, two hairs were found in the meat. Mushroom Swiss burger....standard fare. Sooie burger.....severely overcooked patty. Bronto burger....a great concept, but not executed well due to subpar ingredients. $60 for a family of four to eat food that could've easily been delicious with a little effort. Sam or Dave, thanks for responding to my review. I appreciate your concern. If you look at the pics you can see the beans were dryed out and crusty, that was the better pic. One of the ribs had some moisture in meat the others were dry, again per pics. I have rated Whole Hog and Billy Sims BBQ (went out of business since, food not ratings put them out). I may be tough on the rib restaurants but wouldn't you be? Especially when pictures backup the assertions? Plus Ribs are supposedly to be a premium succulent eating experience? And yes I gave Whole Hog a good review except for the cheesy corn, it should be taken off the menu in my opinion but it is a best seller for them. Each to his own taste. You wanted to pick my brain. Here it is. You have to be in store most of the time. When not your manager should be making decisions as if they were you. And enforce those decisions too. Then the only other things I can really think of is proper training in your recipes as you want them not fudged with because of personal opinion of said cooks. It is your product and business not theirs. The other item is fresh fresh, fresh, fresh, did I mention fresh? Hot where called for and the same with the cold items. Hopefully you realize I am not coming down on your business to be a troll, just to give my honest experience there. I truly hope this helps you identify the problem areas in your kitchen. And that you are willing to correct them, ie getting rid of problems and retraining them. I truly think, if you can't tell from the previous statement, that kitchen staff is your problem, not the food. Once again sorry to have to give such a poor review, but it accurately reflects not just my experience but that of my parents. I know for a fact that you wouldn't want your parents eating the food that was served to us. And no there wasn't an explanation given or even offered. And while the waitress was nice she barely stayed near enough to refill drinks and stuff. Almost as if she didn't want to be asked questions about the food. this place isnt as good as the fast food joint next to it. we had 12 people, and we were pretty much the only ones there for lunch for about 2 hrs. my burger was overcooked, the bun was soggy. i had swiss and mushrooms, no swiss or mushrooms for the most part. the fries were extremely undercooked, so limp and NO crustitude at all....and to top it off, they tasted like they had been sitting in old grease. my friends didnt want to be rude either, as the waitress was the only saving grace of this place, and we just kind of covered up the food we couldnt stomach with napkins, finished our conversation and got out, never to come back. I see other reviews are better, so maybe it was the cook on duty, time of day, the day itself...whatever. but we spent alot money and only get to do this lunch once a month. sure is a disappointment when you look forward to it and end up in a joint like this. read more
