I had posted rave reviews about this spot because we truly love their pizza. However I have had 2 bad experiences this past month that have really disappointed me and I will not be taking my business with them. Last time I ordered it took them over 2 hours to deliver and they were apologetic so I made no big deal about it. Well today it happened again but this time I had the gentleman answering the phone being completely rude as I told him that again they were late on delivering. When the delivery girl showed up she also was rude on hearing that we were upset. Called to order which I do about twice a month and the lady that answered was so rude telling me that the topping we wanted was not on the menu. I order the same pizza every time so I looked up the menu and there was the topping (ground beef). I called back to explain that the menu on line showed it but she insisted I was wrong and hung up on me. I have never had pizza at a chain pizza place and nor will I ever. I enjoy the local restaurants and avoid chain restaurants altogether. While traveling for a business trip I read the reviews and decided to drop in. I am a big fan of first impressions & cold beer. Both were well received and the pie was good. I prefer thin crust pizza cooked with natural wood in an old school Italian pizza oven with only the freshest ingredients and mozzarella. While this was not that place it was decent. I have been eating at Sam's for years and the Pizza is always great. The crust is very good, the sauce has a lot of flavor and they don't skimp on the toppings. The prices are very good, they have a lunch special of a small 2 topping pizza and a soda for $4.99, best lunch deal in town. The owner 'Sam' which is short for his full name is always present somewhere in the store, whether he is waiting on you or making the pizzas he is there. The only down-side is that they only have a few small tables if you want to eat in, but as others have pointed out they do have delivery. read more

My first time trying Sam's Pizza the other day - fed up of the commercial chain pizzas - you could do better in price and quality making your own homemade pizza, and fed up of the home delivery mom & pop Italian restaurants that by the time they get to your house, looks like the pizza has been freeze-dried, so I found Sam's on yelp and gave it a try. I ordered the xlarge extra pastrami and extra cheese. The young men working there were very nice and polite. I tried to eat a slice of the pizza in the car because I had traveled from east Lancaster to west Palmdale, but the pizza was HOT and cheese dripping, so I waited. It stayed HOT like it had just come out of the oven when I got home! Ok, I might have sped up a little! I give it four stars for the crust and sauce alone. I don't usually eat the crust, but I found that I had eaten the whole slice, crust included. And the crust was the right size - thin enough where you tasted more of the ingredients than the bread. The sauce was better than average. Both the sauce and crust have a smooth and buttery taste. When reheating the pizza in the microwave the next day, it was just as good! I wished they would add "shrimp" to their toppings, as their sauce and cheese reminded me of a long-standing Italian restaurant in Westwood that sold shrimp pizzas. I can't remember their name, and they're out of business anyway. Also, they need an XX-large pizza, as I ate the whole x-large myself in two days! When I first moved to this neighborhood, we discovered this place and proceeded to order from here like every night for two weeks. We finally had to force ourselves to stop ordering Sams Pizza every freaking day. The pizza is best in its class and really hard to believe the prices are so good for such nice quality. Ask about the specials of the day for the best deal. They don't skimp on ANYTHING. There is always plenty of pure-tasting tomato sauce with bold oregano and an abundance of cheese. The crust isn't too thin/doesn't fall over too much when you pick up a slice but it's not all bread either. It's quintessential dream pizza. Fast service for delivery or pick up. A simple dine in area has only tables and chairs, very clean and sparse. Huge windows provide mountain views. Clearly everything is invested in the ingredients. It's a mom and pop shop, and the people are so warm, catching up with regulars on their travels, making small talk about the kids; you forget you're technically still in LA. Small town feel, yet competitive on every level. Generosity is the theme here, both in value and in community spirit. read more
