    Very bland and runny

My food was less than good. Only the wings were edible; there was no seasoning on the sides, the green beans tasted like they came straight from the can and sprinkled with garlic salt. The fish was gross. I wish I would have dug into the menu more. We called ourselves going the safe route and are totally unsatisfied. There weren't any condiments: no tarter sauce nor hot sauce for the fish neither ranch for the wings. The name is Sam's Southern Eatery..... Nothing about this meal showed true southern hospitality.not to mention the macaroni and cheese was very soupy. No flavor, very disheartening.

    2 whole catfish

I was looking for good catfish and this place hit the spot! Service was good, all the food we had was good. My only concerns are the place is not super clean and the bathroom is pretty bad. Also the "fish" is not catfish unless it says catfish. I asked and they said all the "fish" is Swai......which I refuse to eat but that's just me. However the whole catfish was excellent!

    Fried pickles

Service was excellent. It was like an old Captain D restaurant. Fried pickles was my favorite. My husband ordered fried oysters but they wasn't like Texas fried oysters. They was like a corn meal ball with an oyster in the middle but the corn meal was still dough, not done. If the menu says whole cat fish, it's the whole damn fish! Bones and tail included. That was my fault. Should have read the menu better. Overall it was a great place.

    hair in cheese stick

when we walked in the waiter was on her phone & the entire time she took our order she had her air pods in. she was also very dismissive & rude. also the ceiling was leaking as if they had some type of water damage & the waiter had a crop top, sweat pants &&& crocs with NO SOCKS..the food came out & after a few bites i noticed that there was a hair in my food... there was hair in the burger, cheese stick & green beans. i will NEVER go back & am very disappointed in myself for going there.

Sam's Southern Eatery rated 4 1/2 stars. They have a large choice of fish, shrimps, chicken dishes grilled or fried. We split a combination of this grilled and had leftovers. This came with 2 sides. We got the fried okra which I liked and the red beans & rice which I could have done without. There isn't much dining ambiance, but the service & food were pretty good. It's a good value with decent food.

Bones in fish like crazy, shrimp tougher than tires
    Gretchen W.

If you want to die from choking on fish bones, or eat shrimp as tough as tires.... then go here! Over cooked deep fried shrimp and fried catfish full of bones that caused me to choke and turn red in the face. I almost needed the Heimlich maneuver. The bathroom was dirty and need repairs.

The food was very good. However, I feel this place was very overpriced for the area. Good place to eat overall.

This time around I asked the girl at the counter what her favorite dish was and she said, "shrimp kabobs." I was sold. SO GLAD I LISTENED!!!! These are THE most flavorful kabobs I've ever had, and they are accompanied by some of the best rice and beans I've ever had. I was fully expecting beans and rice Mexican-style since the place is owned-operated by mi gente, but it was a more Cajun-style brand and rice. These beans and rice are so damn good. I just can't. These kabobs are perfectly seasoned with fresh lemons, tomatoes, onions, and zucchini. It's is CLEAR they make these to order, so when you get it expect a wait...that will be well worth it. Yeah, I take back my last review. You don't come to a place like this in central Arkansas and order oysters. That was dumb. This, however, is the best decision I've made this trip. Hands down.

The setup tells you everything you need to know before eating: paper towel roll on the table, hot sauce lineup, Lance saltines, and a soundtrack of Lightin' Hopkins and Son House fill the room. The chairs look like they escaped from a 1950s diner and that's how everyone likes it. The catfish is the real deal -- cornmeal-crusted, perfectly seasoned, tender inside with just the right snap on the outside. The shrimp are butterflied, large, perfectly breaded, and fried with the same care. Hush puppies that are neither greasy nor dense, which sounds simple until you realize how rarely anyone gets it right. There's a New Orleans soul to this place, and some Memphis too, but nothing precious about it. No one here is performing. Farmers, families, folks still in their work clothes. The people who cook this food grew up eating it every Sunday at grandma's table, and it shows in every basket. If mudbugs are still on the menu when you visit, don't overthink it. Order them. The Flying Fish isn't trying to be anything. That's exactly why it's everything.

Unfortunately, my experience was EXTREMELY subpar. There were only THREE menu items available and were extremely overpriced for the ingredients used as well as the quality and portion size. I only had $20 in cash on me, because by the way, they're mostly cash only, so the only thing I could order was the " hood noodles". That honestly should've been my red flag right there, but I wanted to support a local black business. Not only was the owner or the food truck manager, extremely RUDE and DISMISSIVE to concerns I had about my order accuracy (at the time of ordering), but the wait time was 25 minutes for some REHEATED Ramen noodles, jar Alfredo sauce, overcooked shrimp WITH the shell on, and OVERLY salted and seasoned food. I'm someone who loves flavor, but that plate was walking hypertension. Also, eggs were supposed to come with my order, and there was none in sight. The most edible thing on the plate was the sausage and that was after all the excess seasoning was washed off. I'm not one to trash small businesses, but even the presentation of the truck was underwhelming and concerning. Handwritten and torn up menu signs and NOT the cleanliest either. I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND this food truck, or the actual restaurant business in Little Rock to anyone. Even though the owner specializes in "hood meals ", I don't think quality has to suffer. My friend and I who came to try the business out, ended up throwing our entire plate away and wasted $20.

Located a short drive from downtown Little Rock, the oyster bar is in a cool strip of bars and restaurant on west Markham street. My dad has raved both their Rockefeller oysters, so we had to make a pit stop. Lively, two open dining areas, central bar area, and a well lit patio makes for a good sized restaurant for any occasion. We just missed the oyster happy hour, but that's more reason to come back for more! Our oysters were good sized and stuffed full of spinach, cheese and breadcrumbs. Drinks were great as well. We walked in at 5:30 and by 7:30, there was a waitlist, live music and some big groups dining in. Definitely worth a stop in if you're in the mood for oysters, the Oyster Bar didn't disappoint!

Unfortunately, we were seated in the farthest corner from that restroom. It's a fairly large building with multiple rooms. Going forward, I will ask to be seated closer to the restroom.
