Me and my husband went to try it as we just moved to Sherwood not that long ago! I was in the mood for home cooked feeling BBQ and - man they hit the spot! The portions were amazing for the price, the flavor was incredible with the meat and sauces ! Our server was beyond helpful, patient and so sweet! The environment was nice and calm for when we went but it was a pretty wide space! Plenty of seating and it's got a very "homey" feel to it. Slice was so thin I feel like I could see through it. Very "sample" like and very unimpressed. Sausage m-6/10. Sliced and browned but lacked in flavor. Very basic but to be expected. Both the Mac &cheese and mashed potatoes with brown gravy was trash. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatos with no seasoning. Love their country fried steak and chicken livers. They have some of the best white gravy I've ever tasted. Both the pinto beans and white beans are excellent, especially with the delicious jalapeño cornbread. The BBQ is top-notch with amazingly flavorful BBQ sauce. Extremely slow service. The worst bb que pork I have ever tasted. Didn't know you could get pork that dry and they knew it. Checkout lady ask how the food was and I said pork was terrible. We've been getting takeout from Pig & Chik for the better part of 30 years. They have never disappointed once. Love the pulled pork sandwiches and the burgers. They have southern cooking specials during the week and catfish too. Place is awesome, check it out. read more

Don't waste your time or your money. Went there for lunch took them 20 minutes got my food. The brisket was gray and cold and/ so thin you can see through it. the ribs look like they had been cooked three days ago. I ordered the luncheon which was supposed to be two ribs, two slices of brisket, and sausage with two sides and bread (I ordered mac-n-cheese, coleslaw, and cornbread). Wife ordered the 4 rib plate with fries and baked beans. Huge drink glasses, so good there. Food came. My plate was almost entirely covered with sliced sausage, about a third of it burned. Not just singed or charred, burned with an entire side of the slice blackened. Decent sausage, but nothing special... I've had better from the store. The "brisket slices" were two gray slices of beef about 1/16th of an inch thick buried under the mountain of sausage. Completely tasteless. The ribs were just okay. A little overdone, but decent taste. My wife thought the same. Mac-n-cheese was good. Coleslaw was tasteless. Baked beans tasted like Bush's with some bbq sauce thrown in to ruin it. The cornbread was like eating a mouthful of dry cornmeal. No salt, no sugar, no taste at all. Butter couldn't even help it. Dry, crumbly... just terrible. My mom went here today to just get a basic salad. After she went through the drive thru there was one car in front of her. After she waited 45 minutes she talked to the drive thru waitress about the wait. The server argued with my mother that she hadn't waited that long. Unlucky for the server phones exist and my mother showed her. The server continued to deny the wait and my mother said she could keep the order. This is the first real bad service we've had but because of the severity we will not be dining at this establishment anymore and will tell our hundreds of fellow church goers the same. read more

I have been passing this place for years but always noticed the amount of cars there. Finally i stopped in today and found this place to be a very comfortable and really great place to eat. I had the chopped beef brisket plate which came with toast and fried okra and mashed potatoes and gravy and it was delicious. I scanned the menu and just had the feeling that it was the kind of place where it didnt matter what you ordered from the menu, everything on it was going to be good. I picked up an order for 12. A couple of hiccups......first the order had the wrong day on it so was lucky I had called ahead to tell them I would be earlier than expected. A substitution did not get made...probably because of that..and I do think I heard it said someone had to go get rolls....... But even with that,,,I only waited maybe 15-20 minutes. They hustled to get it together and have me on my way! at least 3 ladies offered me a drink while I waited. Many apologies, and they carried it out for me. Food was great, will have to get more mac and cheese next time, it was fantastic:-) Price was more than reasonable.....options were plentiful for my picky eating family. So.....even with the mistakes.....the food and service were enough for me to give the 5 rating. Everyone in my family said they would remember this for future events. The food is always delicious and the portion size is enough to fill me up every time. Service is a little slower than I prefer sometimes but it's never been unacceptable. I had lunch here with customers on a business trip. Absolutely delicious barbecue. I had a ham sandwich, which was excellent. There was a large menu, and locals have said that they have not had anything from here that was bad. Apparently the daily specials are different each day, and are also worth trying. Last night was my third time to go to Pig'n-Chik. I've been putting off reviewing this place because I keep wanting to go again in hopes that it's going to be better. Each time I've gone the food has just been mediocre. I really really wanted to like this place. It's local, easy to find, and it seems there are some good, hard-working people working there. First visit: Reuben, onion rings, cheese dip Reuben is my favorite sandwich ever and I would describe theirs as "uneventful." The onion rings were actually decent (and in hindsight, the best food I've had there). The cheese dip is boring and I wouldn't be surprised if it was out of a big can bought at Sam's. Second visit: Bubba's Plowboy, fries, cheese dip The "plowboy" was so depressing (description: "lots of beef grilled with onions, peppers, mushrooms and swiss cheese on a special bun with our gourmet sauce"). The beef was cut up so small. It was tiny squares. And most of them were burnt. The onions/peppers were enormous in comparison and they weren't cooked down enough (still crunchy). I never saw any gourmet sauce. The fries were as fine as frozen fries can be. Yes, I got cheese dip again and was disappointed again. Third visit: BBQ Nacho The chip to meat ratio was completely off. It was a huge pile of chips and a very thin layer of meat/cheese/sauce. I don't know if they have a variety of bbq sauces, but the sauce that was on the nachos was not good. There was almost a fine, gritty texture to it and it had a poor flavor. I couldn't even finish it. I had a bite of my husband's "Bubba Bill's Big Dog" and it was horrible. He didn't finish it. I can't say right now if we will go a fourth time. I will update this entry if we do. read more

Based upon the restaurant's website, I wanted to believe that this was a hole-in-the-wall with real potential, but was let down severely. I had the chicken fried steak and my wife had the brisket. Based upon the menu description, it appeared that the chicken fried steak was made in house, but one bite told me that it was an over-processed and frozen pre-prepared item. The atmosphere is very laid back and the food was very hot and fresh. It was our first time to eat there and we will be back. The help was very nice too Well we ate their again and the food is still good. We had a new waiter that had not been trained and considering the large table that required all of the helps attention we managed to get half of our order. I'm from the west visiting Arkansas and wanted some southern food. Restaurant said they use hickory to smoke the meat. I got the dinner sampler. It had plenty of food and filled me up. TL;DR Review: It's good home cookin', not so much the best BBQ in the area though. Okay, so first I feel the need to say that this is not, by any stretch, the best BBQ in the area. If you're an out-of-towner and you're looking for good grub, inbox me or something and I'll clue you in. Or look at my 0 Chainz list, which has quite a few local BBQ joints that put this one to shame. IF that's what you're looking for. Now I can get on with the praise I have for a lunch that was the highlight of my day. I ordered a pork BBQ sandwich plate, which includes two sides. My selections were fried squash and Okra. Okra was some of the best I've had in the area, the squash was too, but really, where else are you going to get fried squash? It was good, anyway. The BBQ was good, but it doesn't really compare well to some other staples in the area as I said before. My wife got fried chicken livers, my 3 yr old ordered a fish snack plate, and my daughter got her corndog and french fries. The kids didn't eat theirs. My wife and I cleaned house. OH. Speaking of cleaning, I think Pig 'n-Chik forgot to. For like five or ten years. The atmosphere of this place is like going to your grandma's house: there's wood panelling everywhere, knick-knacks and portraits of stars from the past on the walls, and nobody else in the room is under 60. If you just walk in and go touch any random thing, it's probably sticky. Maybe a little wet and sticky. My seat was sticky. Whatever. STILL, let me remind you the food was pretty good.
