After all these years, finally pulled the trigger and remodeled our last original bathroom. What a pleasant surprise dealing with all the people at Sam's. Especially Mike & Nick who were very patient and helpful in helping us make selections. Even their installers were great to work with. Neat & friendly and actually showed up when they were supposed too. You don't get a feel from outside how enormous their selection is. Everything you need is in there. Great job guys and I couldn't be happier. A couple of minor things to finish up and then I'll be in for the shower doors. read more

Seems as though our experience is a bit different than other reviewers... We walked in on a rainy Saturday afternoon, were approached almost immediately by an employee who asked if we needed help. After explaining we were just beginning our search, he gave us a brief summary of what was where (floor, wall, marble, etc.) and left us be. They have a large selection of ceramic, porcelain, glass and marble tile, as well as a TV area with a couch for the kids. After a diligent search, we had some questions, and John answered those and gave additional details, then took our sample order (two ceramic floor tile), promising a delivery that next week. Wednesday afternoon we were advised our samples had arrived. No charge, two tiles from each "style" set, one 24x12, the other 12x12. After 24 hours on the floor we were close, but not quite there, so we returned on Friday to revisit our selections. The 24X12 product lacked the character we were seeking so at least we had it narrowed down to one. The remaining contender - Sant'Agostino Terre Nuovo - came in six colors - and we found that one sample board had been out during our last visit. They were kind enough, with a promise of an early Saturday return, to let us take home three (3) of the six color boards, including the previously missing one. These sample boards weigh 70lbs each, and they loaded up our car for the trip hone. Bingo! Returning Saturday morning as promised, they unloaded the car for us. As the decision had been made, they ran up calculations for the combo of 6x12 and12x12 pattern we desired, helped us with grout selection, quantities of all and placed our order. We did a complete kitchen renovation with an addition. This was a huge project but Deanna the kitchen designer at Sam's was so amazing in helping me design the kitchen of my dreams. Renovation is never easy but Deana was so patient and professional she really put me at ease and made the process enjoyable. Her ideas and design were nothing I could ever imagine doing on my own. She was creative and knowledgeable and I am very grateful to her. John Barile the owner and his entire team were amazing even when I got a little stressed. THE BEST! We recently remodeled our apartment and went with Sam's. My parents and other friends had both done projects with them before and had nothing but good things to say so the decision was easy. Completely remodeling a bathroom and kitchen is very overwhelming and John and Howie made it all so easy. Our bathroom turned out amazing and the kitchen even more so. Howie is the man! He turned what was once a small kitchen into a spacious space with a ridiculous amount of storage. I now have a space I love to cook and entertain in. These guys are real professionals. Great Service and a great selection. We just completed a complete renovation on our 100 year old home. Buyer beware!!! One of the worse purchasing experiences I've ever had in my life. I can see that for any negative reviews the owner replies and tries to justify what happened. Blatant lies!!! After spending a couple thousand at this place, our order came in short tile, wrong color and without finishes. The salesman was provided specific measurements (to the inch) and I specifically requested extra tile. This way I had an extra box if we ever needed to do repairs. The job was forced to be halted midstream due to being short. After bringing the issue to the salesman's attention, he told me he ordered more but it was not his fault. Then, the extra tile comes in, in the wrong color. We had a second order of tile (entrance way). Same request (extra tile)...same result as we were short tile on the second project too. On top of it all, we needed some of the entrance way tile to be beveled on one side. Those too were short in quantity. To top it all off, I wrote an email to the owner explaining how poor of an experience I had. As an owner, you would think he'd want to hear about it. He proceeds to tell me that it was not there fault. Not your fault the wrong color came in? Or that you were short on all three orders? Or that you beveled the wrong sides? I came to realize the salesman was the owners son. Go figure. This place is a joke. Don't make the same mistake I did. I can tell by the other reviews I'm not the only person who had a horrible experience. read more

Went into Sam's today on the recommendation of a friend after I admired the work that was done in her home. Showed the guy behind the desk a picture of what we wanted done (a small job) and asked for his assistance. He told us to go look at tiles, mind you, we had no idea what to look for. He did NOT leave his desk and didn't offer any kind of assistance. We walked out and went to the tile store down the street and left after half an hour with what we needed. Whether the job is small or big, we deserved better service than what we received at Sam's. read more

Absolute j*rks, all around. Lack of customer service, people skills, and will not return calls......typical contractors. I attempted to get a simple quote for a glass-shower door - left the diagram, measurements, type/style, and spoke with someone who said someone else would call me back in a few days - never got a call. Called them no less than 4 times, and even followed-up via email - again, total lack of a response. No more than 2 of their sales people stated 'with the diagram you provided, we do not need to come out for measurements' (especially since i only needed a ball-park quote). Further, 6-7 other shower companies have provided quotes without needing to measure. So in sum, they left me swinging in the wind for 3-4 weeks, and refuse to follow-up with a customer who is attempting to give them lots of money. While they have good selection in their show-room, shop around, and you'll find lower costs elsewhere. So just go to Sam's to get their products, take a picture with your phone, and call any other tile places to get their prices. Absolutely - do not waste your time with these people. read more

These people make it very clear they care about their customers and delivering a beautiful kitchen. After expressing some frustration, their owner made an appointment to sit down with me and carefully listen to my input. We didn't agree on everything but we connected. Then, he followed up for the next few weeks to make sure 'i's were dotted and 't's were properly crossed. I'm glad to be able to change my original rating. read more

My wife and I have been putting off a total bathroom renovation because we just didn't want to have to deal with so many salespeople in different locations. After the 1st day of searching we went to Sam's kitchen and bath. It's a beautiful store with a great inventory and a very knowledgeable staff. Everything is there from cabinetry and countertops to hardware, sinks and tile. Every step of the way between John, Howie or any of the other guys you got great service. Phone calls were always returned and meetings set up at convenient times. All that said, the finished product was better than we could have hoped for. Creative ideas in the plans to make it unique and special. Installation was professional and timely and we just can't say enough good things about the whole experience. Save yourself a lot of time and aggravation and go to Sam's 1st. Our next project is the kitchen and now I know exactly where I'm going. read more

We had to have our entry hallway floor replaced with new tile. While many of our friends and neighbors said good things about Sam's, this was our first experience. The staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Although we had to wait a while for the tiles to come from Italy, in the midst of the Corona outbreak, it was worth the wait. Rob, the installer, was also professional, knowledgeable and creative. We discussed different layout possibilities with him and he was patient and easy to work with. He arrived each morning on time and explained the process from demolition to installation. He said what he was going to do and did what he said. Walked in today with my husband looking to purchase tile for numerous rooms in our Somers home. No one in the store could be bothered to assist. From the man slouching behind a desk, on the phone with his feet up to the guy in the rear preparing some sort of raw meat for roasting and the other associates otherwise engaged in nothing we left. I was amazed to see some of the negative reviews that I read! Only because Sam's did our Bathroom, entire Kitchen, the rooms and the terrace which by the way was a huge project and from beginning to the end the experience was incredible!! They were not the only ones that my husband and I got quotes from. Although, they were highly recommended I still considered the others. When we made a decision to go with Sam's we dealt with Howie and it was the BEST experience we could have ever encountered. Projects like ours are very overwhelming and can become a real nightmare. THANK-YOU Howie for making it the BEST experience ever. We did everything with Sam's; The initial design, all the materials, cabinets, floors, doors, carpeting, etc. etc. etc. Even the Contractor that he suggested Gilmore Construction was AMAZING!! Well, it's easy, don't go there. The help was very busy sitting and using their computers, while I had to ask for assistance. When that finally happened, their help was not very helpful. My wife and I simply left & went down the street to Strictly Ceramics, wow, what a difference. The people there, Lisa & Lou, are a mom pop establishment, eager to help and a pleasure to deal with. This place is fantastic the staff is fantastic. As a home owner I went in not really knowing what to do but I took pictures and they took the time to help me figure out what I needed for the jobs in my home. In the end I was extremely happy with my purchase ultimately I made the final decision. I have used them twice now with the reference of a contractor which is pretty fantastic. As a homeowner you have to remember that you make the final decision so the onus is on you to find out what best fits your home. We need to have mom and pop places like this. read more

Absolutely HORRENDOUS customer service. We ordered tile from them which was delivered a full week after we were told it would be, and we didn't even receive a call advising us that the tile hadn't arrived. Then, after we finally picked up the tile, the day we were having it installed, we realized that it was the wrong color. I called Sam's and spoke with Mike, who told me that it wasn't his fault that the tile was not correct, that he would certainly not be able to correct the issue for me that day, and that he couldn't tell me when it could be fixed. He took no responsibility and I received no apology for the mistake. After Mike interrupted me over and over again and ultimately hung up the phone on me, I called back and asked to speak with the supervisor, John. I started to explain the situation and he also interrupted, telling me that he already knew what was going on and "didn't need to hear it again." He then hung up on me several times as well. These people lack basic customer service skills and even common human decency. There are plenty of other places to buy tile around Mahopac, don't waste your time or money on this place!!! read more

I went there a few years back and bought a lot of tile. My contractor was tiling a fire place for me and said he needed more black granite tile. I just needed one tile but had to buy a whole pack. When I returned home the contractor said he no longer needed the extra tile after all. When I tried to return the unopened pack of tile the clerk said "no returns because the lot number is different". Well there was no lot number on the box and I was stuck with $100 of tile. They had an extensive collection of many stunning styles of stone, counters, cabinets, and plumbing fixtures to choose from. They patiently helped us with multiple iterations of the room layout and design, as well as helping us to evaluate and select from many different styles of plumbing fixtures, cabinets, wall tiles and floor tiles. They worked closely with our contractor and were very supportive throughout the project. We spec'd the exact same semi-custom Bertch bathroom vanity and linen closet at 3 brick and mortar stores in the area, as well as one online retailer, and Sam's quoted us nearly $2,000 more. A few hundred dollars difference, we could understand, but thousands more is agredious. Buyer beware. read more

These guys are the absolute best! Used them several years ago for bathroom tile and just went back to them for the marble for our master bath. Turned out the border we wanted was backordered and they continually followed up with the shipment to make sure it arrived on time for our contractor. Worked with both Carmine and Bill and they couldn't be nicer and more knowledgeable. Bill as a former installer was able to help out a lot and explain what could or could not be done. Carmine was a gem with help and follow up. Oh by the way, they just happened to have the best prices too! This was the best part of our bath remodel.
