Since 7 is one too many for your typical Uber or Lyft, I widened my search for transportation to and from the theme parks for our 10-day stay. For a well-dressed chauffer, always on time if not ahead of it, bringing you around in a comfortable luxury SUV, Marty's rates were reasonable. No regrets in taking a chance and trying him out. Will gladly do so again on our next Orlando trip. My only regret though was not having a group photo with him as we were too excited to hit the parks at opening each morning and too tired when we got home after closing them each day. Marty was that patient and flexible with our long and crazy hours. Not to mention our pushing through despite the hurricane bearing down on us. When talking to the person on the phone, he mentioned that I would get a phone call 30-45 minutes prior to be picked up so I know they are coming for me. I wake up early and expect a phone call. No phone call. I go downstairs to wait for the taxi and no one comes at my scheduled pick up time. Immediately, I call, and the person on the phone said a taxi (Michael in taxi 90) will be there to pick me up shortly. I get a phone call from the taxi driver saying he is a couple blocks away. Ok cool, I think, he's close by and will be here soon. 10 minutes go by and I'm still on the phone with him. He had no idea where the hotel was located and how to get there. He was asking me about street locations and how close I was to them. I am from out of town and could not answer his questions. The front desk lady at the hotel was wondering what the heck was happening with my taxi. As I was in the phone, the taxi company calls but I wasn't able to answer. I watched as a taxi pulled in front of a different hotel and then saw it swing over to my hotel. After he put my luggage in his taxi, I find out he wasn't the person I was talking to! What the heck is going on??? The other guy pulls in and my luggage gets moved over to the new taxi. Fine, I'm thinking, at least the taxi is here even if he is 15 minutes late. He starts driving and we end up hitting every red light at 5am!!! Ugh... at this point, I'm thinking what else can go wrong? He ends up taking the normal streets (no freeways) all the way there. While he is driving he's giving me a tour. I'm not interested in sightseeing in the dark. I just want to get to the airport! Then, he starts texting while driving. He's driving 10 below the speed limit because he's texting. Now, I'm wondering if I will make it to the airport alive. We finally make it near the airport, and he starts telling me about how he has been working all day and how he just got my info to be picked up. Then he said he can't take credit cards because his Square app isn't working and the little gadget is broken. The only way to pay is with cash. Seriously? Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. Luckily, I have enough cash. The fare was $53. $53?? I can't believe how expensive it was! My fare from the airport to the hotel was not that much. I end up giving him $60 cash just so I can get away. I can't help but wonder if I was completely taken advantage of in the drive over and then the credit card issue. Anyways, long story short I cannot recommend using this service. Find a different taxi company.

I rate and tip well on the uber app. I feel for the drivers trying to earn a living. Under what I see as a flawed and greedy corporate business model. It's hard to contact Uber when something comes up. The web site is poorly designed. Receipts aren't always mailed out or updates when you tip late. It seems their main aim is to sell you side services. Uber seems to have cynically exploited advancing the taxi profession. Now they're the problem. My guess is they're "driven" by margin compression above all else. I wish there were alternatives.

At 6:07pm a staff member announced that there were several busses dropping of people on the other side of the airport and it would be about 20 minutes. One of these buses was for our line of people waiting. There was one large tour type bus outside and the line adjacent to me was the line for that bus. I noticed while I stood there for 30 minutes that bus was there for 30 of those 30 minutes before it took off. By 6:30pm no buses had arrived and there were only 4 people behind me and after watching the last bus sit and wait for people to arrive and fill up. I decided I was done waiting and I left. Used Mears to save money but in my opinion it was not worth it. I had been travelling all day and just wanted to get to my hotel so I ordered ride-share who picked me up in 5 minutes (once I found the ride-share area at the airport) and was at my hotel in about 20 minutes.

While staying at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort, I called the hotel front desk to ask about transportation to Orlando International Airport because I wanted to book Mears Connect. I was transferred to Yellow Cab, believing I was speaking with Mears Connect. When I was quoted $75 for a cab, I clearly declined the service. The representative then asked if I wanted to be transferred to Mears Connect instead, and I said yes. I completed my reservation directly with Mears Connect for about $16. I never confirmed or authorized a Yellow Cab reservation, nor did I receive any confirmation that a cab had been booked. On the day of my departure, I received two messages--one from Mears Connect and another saying a cab was on its way. When the cab arrived, the driver called my name. I specifically asked if he was with Mears Connect, and he said yes. Since English is not my first language and I had difficulty understanding his accent, I believed he was my Mears Connect driver and got into the vehicle. I found it weird and I told him I thought it was going to be a bus instead, he said "no no they sent a cab" Only after I showed him my Mears Connect QR code did he tell me I was in the wrong vehicle. The company then claimed I had failed to cancel a cab reservation that I never knowingly made in the first place. The driver insisted I pay because he had already driven to my hotel, even though this confusion resulted from the company's booking process--not anything I had done. To avoid missing my actual Mears Connect bus, I paid the fare that had accumulated just so I could get out of the cab. What happened next was completely unacceptable. After I boarded the Mears Connect bus, the Yellow Cab driver actually came onto the bus, approached me in front of other passengers, and told me he should have kept my luggage until I paid. I found this intimidating and unprofessional. This entire situation was caused by a reservation I never authorized. I have asked the company to review the recording of my original phone call, which should clearly show that I declined the $75 cab and only agreed to be transferred to Mears Connect. This experience added unnecessary stress to my trip and is not how customers should be treated. I hope the company reviews its booking procedures so this doesn't happen to anyone else.
