Almost…read more The restaurant is tucked away from the main tourist strip, and walking in feels like discovering a hidden garden. At night, it really comes alive. Lanterns hang from the trees casting a warm amber glow, everything feels soft and intimate, and a live band playing low-key jazz ties it all together. It's cozy, a little romantic, and honestly one of the better dining atmospheres on the island. Hard to say how it translates during the day, but at night, it works. The Food The food holds its own, even if the setting gets most of the attention. By Cozumel standards, it's some of the better food we had on the island. The menu leans creative but still approachable. We tried a bit of everything. The Mexican dumplings were fine. Not bad, not memorable. The trio of guacamoles was a hit, especially the one with fruit and bacon, which sounds questionable but works really well. The queso was exactly what you expect. Good, comforting, not trying to reinvent anything. The standout surprise was the tortillas. Freshly made and easily one of the best parts of the meal. They elevated everything they touched. The meat tacos were also very solid, well-seasoned and satisfying. Dessert was the house specialty, a cornbread-based dish with ice cream and toppings. Don't remember the name, but I remember finishing it, which says enough. Service Service was good across the board. Friendly, efficient, nothing over the top but nothing missing either. Overall Kondesa is worth visiting for the atmosphere alone, but the food makes sure it's not just a pretty place. Come for dinner, take your time, and enjoy the setting. It's one of those meals where the environment does half the work and the food handles the rest.

The caprese with Oaxaca cheese is worth checking out. The pesto is great. Simultaneously smooth and also has a nice bite. The squid ink linguini is a wonderful... and don't sleep on dessert. If you're a small party, the bar is a great option, but the back patio is lovely, too. Service is prompt, friendly, and attentive. Ask for a wine recommendation if you're up for something new. I did. I'd never have picked the recommendation... and I learned something new. Maybe you will, too.

With beautiful trees growing through the floor to the ceiling, the gorgeous lights that twinkle and bring romance to the space, it is all perfect. The staff! Wow! We never felt rushed but always were attended to. The food came with the perfect attention to detail and timing. At no point did I feel rushed or a burden to anyone. What an amazing feeling. Now the food! I am from a very prominent Italian food area and I was very impressed with that selections. The lasagna was stunning, the carbonara needed nothing and gave you that sweet hug from the inside you dream of. I got the ravioli with butternut squash and ricotta. I was stunned. It has been over a week since I had it and I still dream about it at night. What a hidden gem!

Beautiful garden scenery as you walk up to the entrance of the restaurant which we were told its an actual home. The food was good and the service was good especially with a large party of 12 to accommodate. The Coconut Shrimp were large and cooked well. Served with a coconut dipping sauce. I'll give a more detailed portion of that below. I had the steak fajitas and we had the lime chicken soup and the Mexican plate. The Mexican plate had a torta, chili relleno, tamale, quesadilla, green chicken enchilada, and a small portion of fajitas. Everything was delicious and well cooked. The gardens are gorgeous and I could easily see a wedding being held there. Wheelchair accessibility: you can tell hat they've put thought and effort into making this restaurant wheelchair accessible. There was an accessible entrance, and each of the restaurant entrances and had small ramps that were put in place, a little steep but nothing un- navigable. The aisles were open and roomy, and there were paved paths through the garden also accessible by wheelchair. The one hiccup is that the bathrooms have two small steps to get into them with no handrail.

We arrived late afternoon and we were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated. A nice solid menu of Italian/Mediterranean treats plus monthly specials posted on the exterior board. Full bar service, and plenty of Spanish wines offered. Prices are very reasonable and repeat that the service is excellent. In business approaching 30 years, this was our first visit and found it through a shout out on Yelp! The business is an American owned venture but very much offerings and atmosphere of a casual Mexican dinner. Some really interesting photographs throughout the restaurant that offer some insights into the island's history, the owners friends, and even her cats! We started with some wonderful empanadas and an octopus dish that was probably one of the best cooked I've had in memory. Great seafood options and daily fish specials. Like most of Central Cozumel, street parking can be a little tricky but not a showstopper. You may be interested in looking for a yard that offers car parking to get off the streets. We definitely will be back and highly recommend you check out this restaurant when in the area
