Surprised to find fresh fish in the middle of Oklahoma, but I'm happy I did. The restaurant is divided down the middle between hibachi and sushi. The boy and I went for sushi so I can't comment on the quality of the hibachi but we ordered a roll and the sashimi deluxe and were very pleased. All of the sashimi were fresh and relatively thick cuts. I can't remember what the name of roll we ordered was but it was topped with multi-colored roe. The roll itself was large and delicious. When you walk into a place where there are not many people, you don't really expect the sushi rolls to be good, almost expect to have an accident on the way home. When we walked into this location I felt there maybe something wrong with the place as there was only two or three other people there. We were greeted with a smiling host, who took us to a table, towelettes were provided, warm and ready to use. The waitress was quick to get our drink order and return with the beverages. The waitress took our order, the cook behind the counter made the sushi rolls to perfection, and we were served with a smile. I was blown away by the service provided in this place, I would have never thought with no one else going here that I would ever enjoy the food as much as I did. Since moved out here, This place was my first Japanese restaurant/sushi place I have been to so far & I thought it was pretty decent. I ordered my all time favorite The Spider Roll or basically anything with soft shell crab in it. My husband as usual always gets his Phili roll & we shared another roll which I cannot remember but I'm sure will come back to my memory eventually. All the rolls were okay, definitely what I expected. I think what the deal breaker here was how the table felt a little sticky & our waitress was very impatient with us? First off the staff was very polite. That evening said, I ordered an order or the two tuna nigiri, two salmon nigiri and sautéed udon noodles. They brought out salmon and tuna roles and were confused when I tried to explain to them that I ordered the nigiri, not rolls. So I just ate them not that big of a deal. Then they brought out my check and I asked about my noodles and the waiter went to the kitchen and came back to tell me that they were having technical issues. Mind you I have been there for about 45 min already. They just forgot to make it. So they said it would be ready in 10 min. I asked to just take it off the check. They seemed hesitant to do so because they just started to make the noodles. And the cup they brought my cup out in was cracked so water was just leaking all over the table.... read more

Went back out to wait, came back but ready. 3 other orders were taken at the counter and filled, mine still not ready. Asked again..."oh we've had lots of to go orders come in recently" yeah like mine over an hour and half tired of waiting was just told only 20 more minutes again.. lady is rude, no one cares about customer service or the fact the online ordering says 30 minutes for order under $50. The Udon is to die for. The sushi is wonderful. The Yakitori is delicious. Staff is friendly and accurate, although I did have a well-meaning but rather clueless young girl serving me the other day who did not quite grasp the menu offerings and sort of needed help taking my order - from me. But she did well in the end. The only complaint I've ever had is that the tamagoyaki seems to be bought-in. This is one of my favorite nigiri items and I order it anyway, but the difference between freshly made egg and frozen and sliced is huge. It's probably not a big seller but I'm sure there are eggs in the kitchen already! But overall a wonderful place to eat and be entertained, and some of the best food in town. read more

I went here based off of recommendations by Yelp. I was disappointed. The establishment was not busy yet it took forever just to get a beer. Thank goodness to the hostess who ended up serving me. She was fabulous. Two stars for her alone. The sushi and shasmi I ordered was not Al that flavorful. Further, I get that shshimi is raw fish but it was still frozen in the middle. Maybe it was because the tempueture in the place was ice cold. Took forever for my food and again it was not busy. Gave this place a shot for a long lunch break about a week ago. I tried two rolls and their sashimi dish. Rolls: Tasty, fresh, and well formed with a decent amount of fish. Definitely worth the money. Their selection of rolls was exceptional. Sashimi: Well presented and most of it tasted fine. The tuna was a little gross and kind of soggy? Hard to describe. Overall: Decent sushi. I've had better in Lawton, but this certainly was not a let down. This is the best place in Lawton to get sushi - no argument. It is also about the only place open for sushi for lunch. The problem is the service is consistently awful. It's fine to put up with once or twice (if you want sushi and you're here for a graduation or something, go - it's good), but we have such a hard time making this our regular place because the service is miserable. I have never one time had an appetizer come out before a meal. I usually end up canceling it when my meal comes. I once was charged over $70 for a $17 lunch tab because the cashier entered it wrong, didn't know how to refund a card, and no one else did either. They gave me $40 in cash and just asked if that was okay. They don't assign tables to waitresses, so prepare to have three different people ask you the same question over and over and repeatedly interrupt your conversation. Again, the food is pretty good. Keep an eye on your valuables parked outside in the parking lot. You can't order online. You can't order for delivery. So, you have to park, go inside and order. I placed my order and waited and waited. Finally, after other people had ordered, eaten, paid and left, I was going to just walk away. I went outside, My bike was stolen ($1,400 and my camera gear). The building at first glance looks to need a bit of touching up. Mainly the outside aesthetics. There is a small parking lot in front and a bit larger one in the back. Once you are inside it is a very clean and well themed restaurant. Very small and almost quaint feel to it. The wait staff is always polite and the service is great. Not once was I ever looking around for any staff members. Nor did I have to ask for anything. They were always on top of it. The food was amazing especially the house rolls. Which are the sushi chefs own creations and his artistic take on some old renditions. They also have the usual sushi rolls available. Also, there are traditional american food items on the menu for those that do not partake in indulging in sushi. Mainly involving chicken could use a couple more items. I feel it's not a real kid friendly menu although they are willing to split up portions if you ask. I ordered takeout from here about three days ago and got some sushi rolls, specifically the Spider roll and shrimp tempura roll. When I took it out the bag, it looked like they gave me half a roll of each. There were probably 10 pieces total when it should've been more. Second, the rolls were very poorly rolled and were falling apart. The inside of the rolls had barely any meat in them and lacked any sort of flavor. The soy sauce didn't even taste like soy sauce. This place is typically great. The food is prepared well and presented nicely. The sushi tastes excellent, and while the sashimi isn't the absolute freshest, it is still great for a landlocked state. The service is great and they are the nicest they can be. I have yet to try the hibachi, but I assume the same level of quality can be expected there. So why a one star rating? Food poisoning. It's such a shame that this place let me down like this. I am aware that eating raw foods always comes with a risk but I'm also certain that risk can be basically eliminated if proper hygiene and food handling techniques are used. Me and my girlfriend arrived at 9pm on a Thursday, which is an hour before close. It's understandable that the workers would be tired and a bit lax, but that really is no excuse. I ordered a roll with crab and she ordered one with shrimp, I also ordered salmon sashimi. I tried hers but she did not try mine, so her roll is most likely the culprit. Both of us suffered through 24 hours of hell! This kind of food poisoning could be deadly to children, elderly, and people with pre existing conditions. I've eaten here many times and this is the first it's happened... Unfortunately, one time is too many. It was the only food we had that day, so we are certain it came from there. They need to invest in a waiting staff. Owners have changed and so has service. Quality of food not the same. Went for Mother's Day and it was a forgettable dinner. My daughter and her fiancé arrived late and were not taken care of (restaurant was not packed). After 10 min WE had to request menus. Waited again for someone to take their drink orders... no one came. WE had to ask the male waiter to get their drink order and he was about to when the owner stopped him and told him to do something else... didn't get the drinks. Waited again for someone to get their drinks and no one came. WE had to ask another female waiter to please get their drinks and finally she did. Waited even longer for someone to get their order. When finally the male waiter came on his own this time and got their order. To top it off they charged us an 18% gratuity for the service of six people but didn't even do their job when it came to the care of my daughter and her fiancé. Would rather buy commissary sushi for cheaper and not deal with the dirty looks or huffing/ puffing you get here. read more

Had one of the worst experiences at a restaurant that I possibly have ever had. we sit down and it takes 30 min just to get our food ordered. Our food finally comes out an hour and a half later. 4 out of 6 of my table ordered shrimp tempura ROLLS and the lady brings out a small shrimp tempura Appetizer (no rolls) as our meal. Waitress seemed like it was her first night. Suishi we did get was extremely small. Everything here was extremely overpriced. Waitress made no mention that Gratuity was already included on bottom receipt, so top receipt showed just price and tip line, so we ended up Double tipping some of the worst service I have ever gotten. BLUF...Nasty and unsanitary. Decided to stop in for a treat for my wife. Went to the Hibachi side.... table beside us had 2 kids and 3 adults. One of the kids was watching a tv show on a tablet while the other had a different movie playing on a tablet while playing a game on a phone. All of the devices at the loudest volume. Almost walked out the , wish we had...it got worse. Waiter was nice but had issues understanding English. He wasn't sure what medium rare was. Questioned whether I said rare or well about 12 times. When the chef finally made the steaks, both mine (med rare) and my wife's (med) were way overcooked. We were sat at the end of the table waiting for any other potential guests which is normal. We asked to move to the front when the chef arrived. They finally agreed and tried to help us move to the edge seats of the front instead of the 2 center seats. The fork I left at the first spot that I used for my salad (which was mediocre) was wiped off and put on a fresh napkin and placed back on the unused plate for the next guest. Thought it was odd the Hibachi chef knife had trouble cutting the steak until we ate it. It was the toughest and worst Hibachi steak we have had. My fried rice had egg shells. The chef wanted to play so tried to toss zucchini then brocolli. Most places use rice balls or shrimp, not raw veggies. Should have walked out, should have said something, will not ever return, waste of about $60 for the 2 of us. read more

So, on a whim my Husband and I decided to try out Samurai. I'm a bit of a Japanese food snob ever since I lived in Japan... It often just doesn't taste quite right. Needless to say, I was skeptical, but I really wanted Sushi. The prices are very reasonable, and wholly cow, I was in heaven from the first bite to the very last. My Hubby let me order, we split everything. We had the Shumai, excellent, and the Squid salad, perfect, wondful flavor, just the right amount of tang. Then the Sushi. First I ordered Phoenix Tail, and Pink Lady. Figured, two rolls from the house specials would give me a good feel for whether I would ever come back. They knocked my socks off. It was delectable. Perfect blend of flavors and textures. They didn't skimp on the fish and it was fresh, tender. We decided to order two more rolls, the Tiger and the Fire Dragon, neither was lacking. And that impressed me the most. There was nothing I had which was just okay, or nice, it was all excellent. The staff were very courteous, service was prompt, and our waitress was exceptionally good at slipping in and out with fresh beverages without being the least intrusive. This place is pretty well priced compared to other places and the sushi is pretty good. The hibachi lacks a bit of flavor but its still pretty good. The staff is lovely and they make sure that you have everything you need always. The only thing I don't like is their white sauce for hibachi but that's just persona preference. Speaking from the perspective of a girl from California who loves fresh, raw fish. This is by far the best sushi place I've tried in Oklahoma! Very comparable to California's sushi/fish. Food: Food was amazing!! I only tried the raw rolls and the fish are actually very fresh (considering that Oklahoma is not quite near any large bodies of water)! If you're like me, who loves raw fish, I would recommend coming here on a Wednesday or Saturday. They get their fresh fish shipments on Tuesdays and Fridays and serve it the following day. Raw Rolls I recommend: Gulfport: Yellowtail, salmon, tuna. Very simple yet so exquisite! You know the fish is fresh because it has that buttery texture that just melts in your mouth. Four Seasons: Gorgeous rolls with different roes on top. Again fresh fish! Hollaa Out of Control: This is a chef's special and is not on the menu. They usually don't serve this when it gets busy because it takes a little more time to prepare. It has yellowtail, salmon and tuna. All three fish are lightly seared giving it such a smoky flavor to couple the buttery-ness of the raw fish. So delicious!!! This is probably one of the best sushi rolls I have ever tried. I was so excited to finally see another sushi bar in town open up. We walked in and to our surprise the decor was brand new and very nice, it was refreshing to see such a nice place in Lawton! We ordered 2 hot green teas which was very good. My husband and I like to share so we ordered a spicy tuna roll and the sushi and sashimi combo. It came with salad and miso soup for each. The soup was decent, but the dressing on the salad was a little watered down. First off, the sushi presentation was very pretty, the rice was seasoned well and the fish quality was decent. ( I can't say it's great fish quality since we're in the middle of Lawton, but it's probably the freshest you can get in Lawton for sushi. The Sushi and sashimi combo came with 12 pieces of different types of sashimi ,7 pieces of different types of nigiri and a california roll for 23.99! The spicy tuna was marinated to my liking. Our check with drinks and all came out to about 35 dollars. It was a great deal for the amount of sushi we got. They even make their own soy sauce. Not too salty and light. Overall, it was a great experience and we will definitely go back for our sushi fixes. They also offer Hibachi which we plan on trying next time. So here is an update to this place. I've rated this place 3 stars because I like their sushi and the hibachi was good. So we will definitely be coming back for those items. The last time we went we tried their Udon noodle soup and Teriyaki chicken. The udon noodle soup broth was very very bland and very watered down. The teriyaki chicken breast were deep fried, cut up put on a skillet and on sauce on top. It was not good at all. How can you mess up teriyaki chicken right? Well you can. The chicken needed to be grilled but instead was over fried and very dry. Other then that they finally have Japanese beers and sake that we were waiting for. Add the fillet and lobster with a side of scallops and it did not disappoint. The fried rice was fantastic and the sake was really good too. Because, obviously any sushi in lawton will probably fall short of places like CA, HI, WA, etc. I've sushi-hopped in lawton and have come to the conclusion that samuri is the best in the area. (You're welcome, I've done the work food you) The sushi is good and the staff are friendly and talkative. The first time I went our waitress had a hard time handling the order and seemed like she was having a difficult time with English. But my recent visit consisted of witty banter and friendly conversation with the sushi chefs and waitresses (I was sitting at the sushi bar).
