My whole family and friends have been going to Samurai's for years...and we all loved it, but about 2 weeks ago we all went (17 of us) for our 25th anniversary...we finally got all our children and friends together in one place...everything was going great until (long story short) we get the bill...had to get the manager involved...REALLY! He said we were served the lunch portion...okay, but really...a salad, no soup, 4 pcs. of steak and 4 shrimp for $22 something...that was so so messed up...The MANAGER was rude and very unprofessional. ..he finally got all the bills fixed after arguing with us for an hour...the waitress was great (really sorry we got her upset) None of us will ever go back to Samurai's again read more

Pros: The decor is phenomenal! Very romantic and modern. I also ate here on the night I turned 21, and got $20 towards free sushi, which was awesome! The mixed drinks are great and both delicious and creative. The sashimi platter was fantastic and fresh tasting. You get your food pretty quickly, which usually is rare for sushi places. Cons: The rolls are pretty small for the price. They are not really comparable in size and quality to what you can get for cheaper at Lemongrass, Fin Fusion, or even at Cathay. Best hibachi in Murfreesboro! Samurai is awesome! There are several hibachi spots in Murfreesboro, but Samurai is by far the best. I've dined here several times lately and while I've always had great food, the hibachi "show" experience has varied greatly. For instance, when I came here for my birthday last year, our table got a chef that had a larger-than-life personality; this guy was was fun, made us laugh, had some awesome tattoos, and he did some knife tricks that we hadn't seen at hibachi before, such as breathing fire. Of course, not every chef is ready for prime time. We had such a chef one day during lunch. He showed up to the grill and did the same old routine we've all seen 1000 times: made flames, tossed an egg into his hat, made the onion volcano, the boring stuff you can see everywhere. The food was still tasty, but any diner in the place could have that same food, you sit at hibachi if you want to see a show. Alcohol: Samurai has some amazing booze. Try the Scorpion Bowl - it's a mixture of like 10 different kinds of alcohol and comes in this massive Mexican cantina bowl (complete with super long silly straws) and is recommended to be consumed by 2 people. For almost $20 each, it's definitely a special occasion drink. I'm a big dude; I'd consider myself a super heavyweight, so putting away 3 of these and getting 10/10 smashed (it was my birthday, don't judge) you can be rest assured that you'll get your money's worth on the Scorpion Bowl. Pros: Delicious; some amazing chefs that provide an awesome show; great lunch prices; excellent sushi selection; Scorpion Bowls! Cons: Can be expensive, especially during dinner which usually runs approximately $20 per plate (not including drinks); depending on which chef you get, your hibachi experience can vary greatly. read more

The food here is pretty standard for Japanese places. The restaurant and bar areas are very nicely decorated. The staff is and service is good. I would recommend not sitting at a booth if you don't want to feel the person behind you every time they move. Not much to talk about with this one. Food is pretty mediocre and bland, with prices that don't make you feel very good about the exchange, when its over. As a restauranteur, the Only thing that lets me know is that they are serving cheap product with an insane +margin. They're located in an excellent part of town and really one of the only Hibachi Grills in Murfreesboro, TN. So its fair to assume that until they get some real competition (no, Wasabi is not it) that the quality of this establishment is sure to remain unchanged. But if you're easily swayed by appearances and ambiance of a great dining experience ... then look no further. lol read more

This place is just alright. There are a lot of hibachi restaurants in Smyrna for some reason, and this one is no better or worse than any of the other ones. We went on a Saturday night and had to wait about 20-25 minutes for a table, which wasn't too bad considering it was around 6:30. Service was overall pretty good, nothing spectacular but nothing terrible either. We got the Shrimp Tempura Roll as an appetizer, which was done well. We also got this giant flaming drink to share and it was massive. Very strong, but a good amount of alcohol for the money. This one is definitely not one you could probably drink alone, so make sure you have a friend around to help. The hibachi entrees were cooked well. We didn't do the whole show with the chef and everything, just because we didn't feel like going through all that hoopla. Rice and meat were quite greasy though, which wasn't very appetizing. But like I said before, nothing better or worse than any of the other places in town. The sushi was pretty good, so if I did come back here I would probably only get the sushi and not do any of the hibachi stuff. read more

I been here before many times. Hibachi is great here. I try sushi here all the time and it's just disappointing. Service was quick to get our drinks but after the food is dropped off they don't attend to you anymore. Me and my girlfriend got a Scorpion bowl to share. The calamari was ok. The sauce was really good, but there was more breading than meat. The breading was flaky though so that was nice. The Foxy Lady roll was supposed to be spicy, but without the jalapeño slice on top it was pretty bland. Out Of Control roll was amazing again. read more

This is, or rather, was my favorite place to eat. I know my favorite chefs by name, and have exhausted my family's tolerance of the frequency I patronize this restaurant. Today, however, they refused coupons because of the Mother's Day holiday (understandable) but they also refused to honor their own frequent visitor program even though the offer was only good for this one visit. Edit: The manager did return at the end of the meal to give me a coupon for them to honor it on my next visit. The chef SHAMELESSLY flirted with a 17 year old at the table. This including teasing her about her ability to pack away food and repeatedly saying he was your average man. He even discussed her future constipation. TWICE. I cannot fathom forgetting hearing the word constipation while eating dinner in enough time to return to use my Mother's Day coupon. It is a sad day for me, but I will be looking for a new favorite restaurant. read more

This is my go to spot for great sushi in Murfreesboro. It reminds me some of the restaurants I grew up near in Yokohama. The staff is great and seem to always try their best to accommodate their guest. The meals are always served very professionally and appealing. I would also suggest trying their hibachi tables for a great show and food. This place was great!! I have been several times before and have never had a problem with a meal or the service. Yesterday, Valentines Day, my girlfriend and I went out for Sushi. Luckily, the two places that were closer to home were closed, and we found ourselves at Samurai. We got the Crazy Girl Roll and the Halloween Roll. Do not go here if you have a food allergy. My daughter has celiac and cannot eat gluten. They refused to make her anything by simply leaving out the soy sauce. The chef arrived shortly thereafter, asked if anyone (there were a few other people at the table with us) was celebrating. Took a gang of 13 to eat Hibachi style. We made reservations and were seated right on time. Our wait staff were quick to our table and kept our drinks filled and dishes cleaned away the entire meal. My husband and I stopped in around 8:30 on a Thursday night, hoping it wouldn't be too late to get a seat at the hibachi table. To our surprise we not only got a table, but all to ourselves. The staff was extremely polite and attentive and our table chef (JoJo) put on quite a show. Everything we ordered was fresh, delicious and presented beautifully. We started with yellow tail and tuna nigiri, crunchy shrimp roll and a beef tartarki. All of it was fantastic but the beef tartarki stole the show. It is a unique item to find and they seasoned it perfectly and paired with a sauce that was to die for. Then we ordered the Land & Sea for 2 hibachi dinner. Again, our chef put on an excellent show, talked with us and still cooked everything perfectly to order. This was an exceptional experience for us! read more
