Half mint chocolate chip and caramel
    Liann A.

Located in downtown San Anselmo is this cute little Gelato spot that has over 40 flavors! Perfect for a nice afternoon with close parks to enjoy your gelato. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and I asked what was the most popular and the worker said they're all good. Our group all did a small cup but halved the flavors we all happen to get half mint chocolate chip and all got another flavor. I got this chocolate caramel that had some chunks of chocolate, SOO GOOD. Another person got pistachio, and the other person got another vanilla mix one. So good and a great treat for the kids too. They have cones but cups are less messy on a hot day. Perfect for dessert in the town and on a hot day! Parking isn't too bad, there's street parking and neighborhood parking, kind of tight but also a great place to walk around.

So-so gelato and cold customer service. They do accept credit cards. No samples. The back seating area is pretty cute with a view of the creek. It is fairly...messy...I'm not sure when the last time the whole place was deep cleaned. Overall not sure we'll be back, since there are other options in the area.

The gelato is spot on and the place has a very cozy feel. The back seating is amazing and the windows cracked open with the fresh pine/forest air really puts the cherry on top. I love everything about this place and I love the overlook on the creek. And after reading the other reviews I had the hispanic lady today and she was very kind. She let me sample 2 icecreams and I ultimately picked the hazelnut chocolate. The ice-cream was nice and cold and stretchy just how gelato is supposed to be. Today the experience was nice and relaxing with her.

Medium cup- Burgundy cherry and almond mocha fudge

After my lunch, I drove here to look for my two friends Indiana Jones and Yoda at the Imagination Park, then I decided what a nice sunny day, and I said ooh look a gelato place! When I walked past this gelato place and peered inside it was closed. :( As I was walking away to look at some art by the cross bridge, an elderly gentleman came towards me and asked if I wanted ice cream and I said yes, but the place is closed. He said I can open it up for you just wait. I said ok! :) I asked him what flavors are most popular and he said all the flavors listed on the window outside are all popular. So I randomly chose the Burgundy cherry and the almond mocha fudge. He said do you want medium size cup, I said sure! I will splurge why not! LOL The cherry was perfect flavor and texture! If you like lots of nuts then the Almond Mocha Fudge is for you. It was a miss for me, I probably should have gone for a flavor with less stuff inside the gelato like the lemon or ginger flavors. If I come back this way, I'll try other flavors for sure!

I went to try to get a slice of their Chocolate Truffle cake, but since they were sold out by Sunday afternoon, I opted for their version of a hostess cupcake, and their butter cookies with chocolate icing blossoms. ------ FOOD: Hostess Cupcake (3.5/5) I personally found the cupcake to be a bit dry and the whipped cream to be too airy. The chocolate ganache topping on the cupcake was fantastic though, but wasn't enough to save this dessert. Butter cookies with Chocolate Icing (3/5) It wasn't bad but the butter cookie wasn't as rich and melt-in-your mouth as I would have liked. The chocolate icing was a bit too sweet and didn't have a deep chocolate flavor. I'm sure there are some delicious treats here as well that I'll need to try eventually if I'm ever in the area. ------ SERVICE: I spoke with a lady on the phone who was very kind and helpful, but the gentleman at the counter unfortunately wasn't able to provide any recommendations and couldn't manage the line well. The lady on the phone also told me they had the chocolate cake available which is the only reason why we drove out of our way to come here. ------ ENVIRONMENT: There are a few tables inside, outside, and nearby if you'd like to enjoy your treats nearby. The bakery itself is relatively spacious inside.

For me, a nice eggplant pizza and the chicken dinner for my wife which is a house favorite since they first opened. My favorite cocktail, the ADMIRAL and a beautiful, tasty nonalcoholic cocktail for my wife. Simply superb! The remodeled outdoor patio is really something to behold- it's a beautiful cozy setting, especially on a warm evening. For several years now this has been just about my favorite spot to go to in the bay area and certainly my number one Marin spot! Sometimes just to sit at the bar and have a nice exquisite craft cocktail is a complete joy. Or, if you only want a pizza, this is the best place to do it as the wood-fired pizzas are second to none and who doesn't want some pizza and good beer? With a price that's not out of line in comparison to the region. Check out the private dining area which can be shut off and secluded which is great for meetings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, or graduation events. Oh, and let's not forget the succulent desserts. Be sure to take a stroll before or after dinner, and check out the captivating retailers at this charming shopping area known as the Marin Country Mart. There are even freestanding retailers in the various parking areas. Most assuredly, a good place to spend an afternoon or evening. ***Please note that I'm in two areas frequently southern California and Northern California. So I post my favorites in both spots.

A few folks outside some inside. This made ordering quick and easy, and the food was prepared quickly; a benefit for us, perhaps not for the business. The place is still attractive and clean, with plenty of tables outside and inside. I did not that, as my last visit, there is no shade really provided for the outside seating, save ONE small umbrella. Ugh - not sure what the issue is, and being it was a sunny day, we opted to sit inside as much as the patio called to us. The inside is nice, too, though, and there is easy access to the soda fountain machine and condiments. There are still self-ordering kiosks, large digital menus, and of course, you can also order through the app (even if standing inside!) or at the counter. We ordered a bit of each - side, main, and dessert! There was a portabella "'Shroom" burger (with a crisp-fried portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheeses, topped with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun), cheese fries, a mac 'n' cheese, chicken bites, and a Key lime shake, a special offering! Damn the calories, full taste ahead! The food was indeed prepared quickly and served hot. The Shroom burger was my favorite last time, and for taste and texture this time was also delicious and good. The cheeses inside were melty-gooey, and the mushroom crispy. It was, though, much smaller than I remember - it fit within my hand! A con, against the price, for what is a nice option for veggies or anyone wanting a change in their burger. The chicken bites were smaller than expected in size, more like nuggets, but tasty. The mac 'n' cheese was also tasty, but also a bit small for the price. The fries are always good, and in this case, you need to dig to the bottom early on to scrape some of the melted cheese that dripped down back onto the fries. Very yummy. But the best part was the Key lime shake, a flavor I just love (cheesecake is my favorite iteration of this flavor) but this milkshake satisfied me greatly. A little pricier than their everyday shakes, but how often so you find a unique flavor like this! A win! Overall, a solid 4-stars for food flavor and quality, and also for ambience and environment. Price wise, it was about $40 for two of us, so not a great bargain, but given the economy today I have the same financial shock at other places as well. Still, a nice treat and we left happy.
