Visited for the first time after hearing so many great reviews. The space is a decent size and a bit outdated, but it has a comfortable, cozy feel that I actually liked. The service was excellent--the owners were there and were very friendly and welcoming. The burgers were really good--fresh and tasty, though they could've used a little more seasoning. That said, you can't beat the price for the quality. We also ordered a hot dog for the kids, which isn't listed on the kids' menu (it's on the regular menu instead). Tried this place after seeing it featured on the this morning on a morning show. Excellent burger and fries. I got the cheeseburger which is a juicy 1/3 pound with cheese, mustard, lettuce, tomato and onions. I added grilled jalapeños with a drink and fries. It was so good. My friend got the same thing without Jalapeños and he ordered fried okra instead of fries. The owner and his wife both checked on us and were very friendly. Consistency is KEY & this place is SPOT ON. It's become somewhat of a weekly routine to hit up this joint and get our "American" dose of fast food. Now, not every item on the menu is HALAL -- so when you order just double check, Becky. Oh how I wish the angus burger was halal, but sadly, it is not. My GO TO is the double double cheeseburger. I've had this several times and never do I leave with an empty stomach. The meat patty is seriously a DOUBLE DECKER. They've learned how to cook the meat to perfection -- a bit crisp on the outside, HELLA juicy on the inside. At times, I've had to share my burger just because the beast is hard to finish. I've also had the Philly cheesesteak & chicken tenders which are also great options, but those burgers man. Get it as a combo, side it with the Texas famous BIG RED, say Bismillah & GETTTT IT. The staff is tremendously nice & helpful and it's always nice to see and hear the same familiar faces taking our order, either in person or over the phone. I tried a gyro with tatortots, then the next time I tried a chili cheese footlong hotdog with some sweet potato fries . So far everything seems to be freshly made. If I may note I felt like I ate some burnt end of the gyro meat which was still flavorful Otherwise, I liked that a small local restaurant could produce a decent footlong hotdog . We've been on hiatus from enjoying the great food and wonderful service here at San Antonio Burger. Since Grandma E. Used to live near we were ALWAYS takeout orders on our way to visit her. I remember she loved the kids cheeseburger with fries because it was just the right size for her. We happen to be nearby and am so glad we stopped in. I was able to enjoy my favorite veggie burger in town...parting was such sweet sorrow but our reunion was wonderful! My husband enjoys their hotdogs and burgers and our son as well. We just order without the bread for him because he is Gluten Free and he is happy. The fries really are as good as everyone says. They have a blue plate award and I saw two recent A and A+ ratings posted. This always makes me confident and loyal to any business we encounter. Cheeseburger had all the main ingredients and they tasted fresh. The burger itself is thick and had a lot of flavor. Though I thought the burger was a little dry, I will say the fries are excellent. They are crispy but as I went through it, it became saltier. My suggestion for next time is to evenly salt the fries and add extra mayo to the burger. The service for pick-up was great. A good cheeseburger is one of my top three favorite foods/things to eat. So, it takes one helluva burger to impress me. Walked in, ordered - bacon cheeseburger - and I let the young man (who was very friendly, by the way) behind the counter decide whether I should get fries or tots. He said tots. Glad I took his suggestion. First, let's get the disappointments out of the way, starting with the wait. There weren't many people there, and I felt it took longer than it should for a bacon cheeseburger and tots. Second, the burger patty - the cornerstone of a memorable burger. Menu says the patties are 1/3 pound; I felt my patty was a tad small, leading to a ratio which was more "bun and toppings" than the intended (perfect) ratio of bun:meat:condiments:toppings which encompasses a FANTASTIC burger. However, one thing I was not disappointed about: the tots. Now, don't get me wrong - they weren't unlike tots I've had elsewhere, but they sure do give you your money's worth. Seems like my routine response to a side dish (fries in particular) these days is, "really? that's all I get?".
