I use my spa pretty much every day due to my injuries I sustained while I was in the military. I purchased a spa from this company a month ago after finding out that our old Bullfrog spa is pretty much toasted. I spoke with Brandon and he pretty much explained to me that when rodents gets access to your internals, that issue will most likely be more specially chewed wires and such. So we opted to purchase a new hot tub and Brandon much gave us a quick course on spa 101. After it's delivery and an electrician wiring the new tub, we ran into an issue with the new tub. I spoke to Brandon and he explained that if the issue is wiring, they would have to charge us but if the issue is the tub, it would be covered by the warranty. About a week later, Silus arrive to our house to figure out the problem. He was professional and elaborate with us the procedure. Upon further inspection, he determined that one of the parts of the new tub was defective and it would be covered my warranty. Good to hear. I highly recommend these guys. We do have local spa stores near by but they have been very professional including giving advice on the DYI. Good Dudes! read more

Disappointing Service from Owner Despite Years of Satisfaction We've owned our Caldera Spa from The Spa & Patio for several years and have been very happy with it. When we discovered a leak just before our warranty expired in December, we called for service. The technician confirmed the leak and suggested we remove the insulation ourselves to expedite the repair, which we did. We quickly located the problem: a leaking 3-inch PVC fitting. When we called to schedule the repair, we were told it wouldn't be covered under warranty due to evidence of rodent droppings. While I understand denying coverage for damage caused by rodents (like chewed hoses), this was a large 3-inch PVC fitting--clearly a workmanship issue, not rodent damage. Regardless, we were willing to pay out of pocket to get it fixed. That's when owner Ian called (when I spoke with him I was unaware he was the owner). Rather than schedule the repair, he advised us to hire a local handyman because his technician would charge us for probably around $1,300 "or more." The technician was prepared to come out when Ian called him back and questioned why we were proceeding with the repair. I was shocked that the owner actively discouraged us from using his own service. We canceled and hired a local professional who was supportive, knowledgeable, and completed the repair quickly for one-third of the quoted price. He shared with us the leak was due to shoddy work when the spa was made, not the work of a rodent. After years as satisfied customers of the spa we purchased from them, this experience was deeply disappointing. A business owner should stand behind their products and support their customers--not turn them away. read more

After many hours and days of research on a new portable hot tub, we returned to this store in September and looked further into the generic brand, Aquafina, Model LE865L. Brandon, Danielle, and Ian patiently explained the features of this spa, fulfilling our wants for select jets, pumps, voltage and digital control. Even when the incorrect model was delivered, their crew unpacked and repacked it for return without issue. The Spa and Patio store retained my $10,000 deposit on a swim spa which I was told could be applied to another spa - nothing was said about which spa I could choose or a time limit as to when I needed to use the credit . I even came in to look at small spas and the salesman Bernardo who gave me the credit helped me He never mentioned I needed yo buy a large spa or any limitations. Now I'm being told unless I buy a very expensive swim spa that I cannot use my $10,000 I tried to call the store after reading the owner's comments . I asked to speak to the owner Michelle. I was told she is the owners wife and I need to talk to the owner. And that he will be back in a few days - whatever that means. . I had tried talking to him prior to this and was told by a salesperson that they did not know when he will return - whatever that means . Next year , What? I purchased patio furniture from this store and have had a bad experience ever since . Just look at the quality of the furniture I bought. While it was under warranty I contacted the owner in 2018, Ian, he gave me the warranty phone number. I have been trying for a year and a half to contact them. They always say we don't do any warranty and hang up. Since I do not speak their language it is hard to communicate.on August 1st I went to the San Diego spa and patio to see if they could help. LOOK AT THESE PICTURES ITS DISGUSTING THE QUALITY OF FURNITURE. I deserve refund! And by the way I contacted the store for help in 2018 while under warranty. They did not help at all. I was given the phone number for the manufacturer and they said they don't do warranty's. After a year and a half of dealing with trying to contact the manufacturer I went to the seller. Michelle, I am very happy with the grill and fire pit. The price I paid was fair not a deal made especially for me considering the grill was the same price that my neighbor paid. Yesterday I met with Bernardo and he confirmed that you do not deal with this manufacturer any longer after Bernardo had trouble dealing with JJ Wicker. Bernardo said he thinks JJWicker is out of business. Bernardo confirmed that JJWicker staples come apart and the wicker is painted. The reason that my couch and love seat are falling apart is brace of the staples according to Bernardo. Also I said with this experience we would only buy metal and picked out a set and Michelle, there was no discount offered. Michelle, normal wear and tear is not staples coming a part. I have 2 club chairs that are not falling apart and all the furniture is under cover. Bottom line. I went to the owner of your store while still under warranty! I bought this furniture from your store and you house not to stand behind your products. Even after telling Bernardo telling me the furniture was not made well. Michelle you are incorrect as I recorded the entire conversation with Bernardo and Ian today. My son has a dog and we were concerned about white cushions getting dirty with the dye from peoples jeans, again this is recorded. Everything Bernardo said yesterday, you may want him to come clean about what he said. And we were told we could not have a discount we asked for a chair to be included. Again Bernardo said the chair was 595, NOT 700. Not sure where you get your information, again, the recording says it all. AND YOU DI NOT STAND BEHIND YIUR PRODUCT. My original email to Ian was September 2018 AND THE FURNITURE WAS UNDER WARRANTY! This is what I mean, you don't stand behind your products and your facts are incorrect. We will let a judge decide. As a result of my original Yelp posting, The Spa & Patio Store (owner) reached out to me to address the failing Leisure Concepts CoverMate III lifter system. He was able to work with another vendor (not Leisure Concepts) to supply me with replacement parts to fix the damaged lifter system (arms). So the problem that I had with the cover lifter has been solved for now (the Leisure Concepts CoverMate III design does not work well at all with BullFrog spas, and I do not recommend it). While it shouldn't have taken as much effort as it did on my part to solve this particular problem, The Spa & Patio Store did eventually support me. Adjusting my rating upward accordingly. read more

The reviews are definitely spot on. If you want a jacuzzi, get it here. Don't go through Costco unless you know exactly what you are getting. Here they take the time to educate you on differences, sizes, prices, differences of seating and brands. I was kind of kicking and screaming not wanting to get an above ground jacuzzi again because of issues we had with rats previously. But I agreed after getting bids to build an in ground jacuzzi was expensive!! Tammy helped us and she knew I was hesitant and just wasn't excited like my husband. We came upon the bullfrog brand and just the look of it, the functionality of being able to rearrange the jet packs to any seat, the way the plumbing is designed and the reduction of energy used- I was extremely impressed and my husband and I agreed. It checked off my usual things I look for, is it made in the US, is it environmentally friendly etc. Tammy really gave us great info. Every jacuzzi they sell includes free delivery and chemicals. She educated us on the new products to keep it clean. We put a deposit that day even though our backyard remodel hasn't started yet. I have a good judgement on people and you know you are being taken care of there. We even briefly met the owner who was down to earth and easy going. What can I say? My entire freaking life is a REMODEL, sigh. So, this winter I got the brilliant idea of wanting to re-do my patio/backyard and add a Swim Spa since I love being in the water so much. During the times when I can't be in the ocean surfing I could at least get an awesome water workout at home. So, I drew up the plans with a contractor and he suggested La Costa Pool & Spa. I called ahead, told them what I was looking for, and set up an appointment. Came here and talked to Ian and Michelle. They actually took the time to ask me important questions regarding my renovation, what exactly I'd be using the Swim Spa for, how frequently, and how much time I'd be training in it. Would I be soaking in it? Nah, I'm a shower kinda guy. How many people would be using it? Just me. Is it something that I really want or just "nice" to have. Oops, in all honesty, I kinda wanted it as a backup fitness outlet, to further strengthen my swimming to an Olympic level, and to impress my family and friends showing them what a hardcore athlete I am. Umm, here's another factor...It doesn't rain that frequently in San Diego so I probably spend 11+ months at the beach anyway. Michelle looked at me like I was from another planet and said, "You're going to spend ALL this money and tear your place apart on something you're barely going to use?" Yes, I guess I'm from Mars. I like the fact that La Costa Pool and Spa didn't try to sell me something that I didn't really need. If I had gone ahead with it my better half would never let me hear the end of the Swim Spa that never gets any use! So then I started talking to them about possibility of adding a corner hot tub unit to our upstairs guest bathroom. That actually made a lot more sense and I look forward to coming back here after we draw up the plans to re-do our top floor... Like I said, my entire life is a REMODEL!!! read more

Let's talk about our buying experience. We bought a spa during Covid so everyone is well aware there could be hiccups. They told us 4 - 6 weeks for delivery, after 4 weeks we called for an update. We were told it would be a week or two they don't have an update. After 6 weeks we called again. We were told because of covid that plant was closed. That's fine but why at any point in the last 6 weeks did no one reach out or let us know. Even when we called multiple times no one updated us. After 8 weeks of leaving messages we went into the store. They let us know our spa was another 12 weeks away but we could have the floor model. The point is they have no problem selling the spa to you but don't expect call backs or customer service at all! Everyone knows we are in weird times but there customer service was horrible. read more

The Spa and Patio Store does not make their own spas / hot tubs. So I am not writing a review of my Caldera Spa. I am taking the time to write this review because I was blown away with the customer service and support that I received from the team at the Spa and Patio Store. I purchased a spa that cost more than I had planned to spend... especially after seeing decent looking "hot tubs" at Costco for only $6000. At the store, Bernardo spent well over an hour explaining everything you can imagine about spas without any pressure on us to buy. We purchased a spa that day and Bernardo gave us his cell phone number in case we had any more questions. Bernardo personally helped arrange for the spa delivery and set up. He again told me to call him on his cell phone when it arrived so he could walk me through how to start it up and use the controls, etc. The real customer support /service became evident when my spa had an issue with the touchscreen. Bernardo helped me trouble shoot it several times to no avail. Then I got a phone call from the store's owner, Ian, who personally promised me that he would get a technician out to my house that day to service my spa. One day later, the touchscreen was replaced and my Caldera Spa is working great. You may be able to save money and get a cheap hot tub from somewhere else. But I think there is no substitute for peace of mind knowing that this company stands behind what they sell and they will go above and beyond to take care of their customers. read more

I had very bad customer service at this place, dealing with Ian. I wound up going to another Spa dealer in Moreno Valley, because of Ian, I would never give my business to this dealer. Ian tried to sell me a spa out of my budget and when I mentioned another spa he told me he spent enough time on me we got into a shouting match on the phone and he said he really didn't need to sell me a spa, so I went to Indland empire spas and hot tubs in Moreno Valley and bought my Spa from James. Buyer beware. Your deposit will be gone if you change your mind or if you would like to apply it to something else within the store. Last year my husband and I put a deposit down on a $10,000 spa. The spas were sold out and there was a wait list for months to receive the spa. We got on the waitlist and our spa was ready earlier than we thought a few months later. We had an issue with our old spa getting picked up by Costco and to coordinate the move was a nightmare in itself. We let them know and to pass us up for others who would be anxiously awaiting the same spa we ordered. It was easily sold to the next person.... So nothing lost to the store.... in the meantime I asked multiple times if we could apply our deposit to other items in the store. I desperately wanted new patio furniture and asked if I could instead apply it there. They said no. It's unfortunate I had to write this review. Hopefully, it will earn others that your deposit is forfeited completely and there is no chance to use it toward other items in their store. read more

We came into the store to find no one on the floor to help .... which is fine but when we finally found the front desk the man behind it reluctantly put away his lunch and mumbled something that we figured was asking us what he could help with. My husband asked if they sold a part for our spa - the man mocked his British accent before I stepped in - he was obviously just being incredibly rude. Thank goodness a woman came out to help who was very friendly and answered our question nicely. Unless this man is the owner I would suggest getting him some education in customer service or letting him go- I would love to buy our next spa from this show room as it is gorgeous, but I wouldn't step foot in there again unless I knew this employee was no longer working there. All I have to say is that if you are even thinking of getting a hot tub you should come here first and save yourself a lot of time. I did tons of research, looked at CostCo, the San Diego County Fair, and local retailers. First and foremost their customer service is excellent, we worked with Kevin and we went the first time with our young boys and they were friendly and polite to them. Kevin took his time answering all our questions and helped us narrow down what are needs are and what would work best for my size (I'm 5'2"). We didn't purchase that day and we took our time looking other places. We found ourselves back a the Spa and Patio Store working with Kevin. Where we made the plunge and purchased a great CalSpas hot tub. They gave us a more than fair price and we had it delivered a week ago. The delivery was also a breeze and the follow-up was impeccable. We have been in it everyday since and I have to say it is perfect for us. Sitting in a sample and seeing how your body fits in all the chairs made a big difference, I would never purchase something like this online also with working with a local retailer you have someone close to call if there is a problem and they have their own service technicians should you ever need it. I don't write many reviews but this company and especially Kevin deserve more than 5 stars! read more

I ended up buying a Bullfrog spa and loved the entire experience all the way down to the delivery. I had such a great experience I went back and bought my Firemagic BBQ, fridge, and kitchen sink. I also bought a full set of patio furniture from them and haven't had any issues. The 2 owners are pretty cool too. Just saying. Where to start?? First, giving 2 stars solely based on the friendliness of the sales person. Besides this, all other interactions get a single star. Comments on service: Sales staff does not know their product. Although being told repeatedly by sales person that he has 15+yrs in spa industry, he did not know the configurations and options with spas. He said he did, which is why we bought one. But, after our following up with him and owner Ian, he had no clue. Excuse given, "He's new to the store". But, if you have 15yrs of experience in SoCal with spas, is this really an excuse. We were sold options that didn't exist. "Given" upgrades to sweeten the deal that 1) didn't exist and 2) were already free offerings according to their website. Speaking of their website, they post sales and clearance options that do not physically exist in the store. Understanding items posted may not be at the store when you make it in, due to being sold, how can all of them actually be sold. Also, sales staff has no idea on what is on their site. So, be prepared for this if you choose to go here. Do you homework!! Lastly, when we called in, reporting all issues in what was sold to us, the owner Ian, got on the phone. His reasoning for the issues we went over with him was 1) his 15yr experienced sales guy was "new", 2) they had sold 55 spas in last week, so they were too busy to update website and educate their staff, and finally WE asked for things that were not available. Not that they sold us on things that did not exist, or should have been free according to their website. In close, to satisfy the customer, his ONLY offering was to cancel our order. Not work with us in order to maintain a sale. Just cancel our order. We ended up driving down the street and buying another spa from another store. Completely different experience. I would not recommend going to this store/location. If you do, make sure you do your homework on the models they carry, what services are available on their website, what this store offers on their own websites, including costs... Craig was outstanding in taking the time to walk us around to all the spas they had in stock, having us sit in each one we were interested in walk through the benefits of each. They ended up having the one in stock we wanted and by the next day, they had removed our old one, set this one up and we had it heated up in time to use that night. My only concern with purchasing a hot tub was would the gate be large enough to fit the spa thru it. I checked when we got home and we were 3 inches short. Even though he had to work that day, Craig came out with the spa crew @ 8 am to assist with the issue. We ended up taking off a fence panel to get the spa into the backyard. Craig also followed up with a call to see how we were loving our new addition. Again, I can't say enough good things about the service we received. Knowing it was covid, we price shopped several spa vendors in San Diego by phone. The Spa and Patio store was by far the most responsive and helpful. So much so that we purchased a tub from them over the phone after spending time online and by phone with the owner, Ian, on the weekend! He helped us look at models, videos and discussed our needs. He made us a priority, did not try to up sell us and was honest and upfront about the uncertain delivery timeline given CoVId. The delivery was delayed several times and that was frustrating l, but we felt that wasn't their fault. They communicated often and would respond by phone and text as questions arose. How does she know, definitively, the content and tone of my phone conversation with Ian? I did not yell at Ian over the phone. I firmly told him why I was disappointed and that all his excuses were not going to solve the problem. I warned him that if he continued to deny responsibility for the missing parts, for which I paid in full, that I was going to hang up. Ian continued to make excuses so I abruptly ended the call. As I expected, he did not call me back. Instead, he had Bernardo make the arrangements to deliver the missing breaker boxes. I am left to deduce that Ian is avoiding me and letting Bernardo and Michele do his job, even though they were not involved in our contentious conversation.
