I usually come here to purchase my oxbow baby bunny food, and to play with their hand tamed parakeets. But this last trip to SDG, I came home with a new friend, Pandora! I purchased the most amazing bunny a few weeks ago and I cannot tell you how happy I am with her! She's an adorable little black and white bunny. And I come home to her licking my face, and she loves to be cuddle and snuggled and put on her back to sleep. Thank you for a great new member to my family of now 3 bunnies! Came in today and walked through the back, I wasn't aware of what time it was or what time they closed. I was just looking for some low sodium treats for my dog who I just found out has a heart problem. When I originally walked in the girl in the back gave me a nasty look. I walked straight to the treats and saw another woman at the register. No one asked if I needed help, and no one informed me that they were closing in 5 minutes. Instead of telling me they were closed, or saying to bring my items up front, they turned the lights off on me. No one said a single word to me. It was my first time here and I've never felt so unwelcomed. Will not be returning, which is disappointing because I went here with high hopes of finding what I needed. read more

It pretty much has something for all my pets ! We got a puppy there to. She is very cute. Plz keep in mind that if you get a pet from San Dimas and it gets sick you are on your own. Puppies/kittens are NOT sterilized, microchipped, vaccinated , or vet checked. Make sure you have at least $2500.00 for vet bills just in case. You should get your puppy vaccinated and microchipped as soon as possible. With that said, we love going there and shopping for all our critters. read more

I bought a great dog back on 6/3/19. I was told that she was a Catahoula Leopard dog. Since she was mostly white with a few black spots, they felt she was probably deaf. They were right about her being deaf. I had a Wisdom DNA test done for breed. It turns out she is 50% Short hair Border Collie, 13.5% Australian Kelpie, 13.5% Australian Shepherd and 25% breed groups Sporting,Companion and Herding. That's different. Lot's of energy. Every day is a challenge, but she is worth it. read more

I love San Dimas Grain. I am a resident of La Verne, but hang out in San Dimas quite often. I have never had a bad experience in the store, but quite the contrary. I have found all the clerks to be helpful and very nice. They have assisted me with dog food questions/concerns (my dog is a bit overweight) and with questions regarding horse bedding/supplies. I acquired a puppy there about 3 years ago, and he is healthy, wonderful (a bit chubby) and very much loved. Prior to purchasing they let me come everyday and play with him to make sure we were compatible. Very nice and helpful when I came the first time but not so much the second time around. First time I came with my daughter I were helped by a very nice gentlemen. He was kind with my daughter and let her pick out 3 chicks. We got to hold them and interact with them. Today I came in with my child again and as my daughter was about to pet a chick the lady there yelled at her and made her cry. I understand if you don't want her touching them but tell me and don't yell. I was about to buy feed and a coop but I walked out instead. We adopted our beloved Chewie (cat) from here 2.5 years ago and we have recently gotten him a companion from this store, 9-month-old sweet Louie. The kittens here are usually rescues and you can tell the employees care about the animals. Both times, Yolanda helped us. She didn't just shove any available kitten at us, she asked me questions to match my family up with a kitty with the right personality. Right away she suggested a very outgoing pet that liked to be held and would be great in a house with kids. Yolanda was extremely helpful and caring. The adoption rate is reasonable. The girl Shana who answer the phone was very rude to me I had asked if they had any room to adopt my seven month year-old kitten and she just said no we don't have any room and I just said OK and she hangs up on me. then I called back and get asked for her name so I can make a complaint to her boss so she tells me to hold on and once again she just hangs up on me and blocked my number so I had a call on private two times just to speak to a manger. I don't know if this girl hates her life or hates where she works but she doesn't need to be taking it out on customers. It was rude especially for first time customers who are trying to get their help. The manager overall helped me with my situation and explained everything to me that Shana couldn't simply say over the phone. And said she will talk to her but who knows I don't know if that's true but this girl does not belong working here. Or needs to be retrained. I work customer service and I know how to treat my customers and definitely know not to take anything out of my customers if I don't want any complaints. It's sad to say the people I was with had witnessed the whole thing. read more

Came by here last Saturday with my husband and one of our dogs just to check it out since we just got our dog a hair cut across the street at the San Dimas Groomer. The store sells quite a lot of things for birds, dogs, etc. You can also adopt dogs here outside towards the back of the store. There is also a low cost vet on Saturday mornings that provide low cost vaccinations. Pricing for some of the dog items I looked at seem a bit pricey, especially the dog apparel and leashes. Not sure if I would really buy things here because I know I can the same items a bit cheaper at Petsmart or Petco (Petco is probably 3 or 5 miles away from here). I like the way this store looks though. It looks like a barn and even has hay on the side entrance. There is also an old school looking scale inside the store, which is what I would assume was used back in the olden days to measure how much feed/ grain you would purchase for your animals. There is street parking outside of this store, which shouldn't be a problem. Overall, a nice place for your pet needs that is in the area. But prices are a bit higher than other pet stores. read more

STAY AWAY, STAY FAR FAR AWAY!! Standing in the center of the store and expressing that look of "I need some help" only to be completely ignored by Frick and Frack standing behind the counter. These two were motionless, afraid to move and staring at me as if I were some sort of bill collector. They were absent any indication of possessing a job they were being paid to do and I recall thinking, "it must be bring your kid to career work day" only to quickly dispel that rumor conjured up in my own head in order to excuse their behavior. Nevertheless, I slowly approached the counter, fearing that I was perhaps interrupting a robbery in progress and thus explaining the two ice sculptures reluctancy to assist me, but course, a scenario like this would have very little personal cause and effect, but it would redeem the employees. No such luck, the employees suck, never moved further than an inch and I firmly believe that they are relatives of the owners and only hired because they were unemployable elsewhere. Ultimately I walked out and, forgetting the reason I visited the grain place to begin with. read more

Yesterday they had a power outage and the store was not open when they should have been. Another gentleman and I were waiting. The older lady opened a side door to let an employee in but never addressed the people waiting. An older gentleman in a pickup drives up and the older lady starts talking to the man in the truck still never addressing the people who had been waiting. The employees she had let in prior walked by and said to come back after 10. The gentleman who had been waiting with me hadn't heard so I had to tell him what was going on. This is my favorite place to shop at for pets and supplies. I was there about five months ago for a bunny. My daughter got a bunny and we are now back for another one. Today we went and purchased a bunny and also a guinea pig. Shawna is the young lady that helped us she's so sweet and patient. What I really enjoy about San Dimas grain is that they let us hold the pet before we purchase them. We got to choose the one that we felt was comfortable with us.
