Every aspect of our visit from making appointments with the front office ladies, to needing help with picking glasses out with the help of the girls who work the back office. To the techs who do the start up eye exams. Right down to how nice and professional the Dr's are... I wouldn't trust my eyes with any one else that I even bring my whole family here. Although I loved Dr. JoAnn Henwood most of the office staff is super rude and not helpful at all! One in particular .. Her name is Yara she has the worst customer service EVER super unfriendly even with her own coworkers everything seemed to bother her she was helping me with my contacts and she was being so snobby and when her coworker asked for help she would answer all rude. Her whole vibe killed my experience with this office. Good doctor, beautiful office but horrible service i was there for 3 hours waiting my appointment was at 2pm and they didn't help me out until 2:40 ish and to top it off i had to wait even longer because their system was down. I've have been a patient here for at least 10 years and I've always been happy with the services provided. The staff is very personable. They've always been kind. For the last 2-3 years I've seen Dr Henwood and she is truly an exceptional doctor. I've never felt rushed when I have many questions, she is very thorough in answering all my questions and is very down to earth. She's the best. The 2 times I've had to call in for a same day urgent visit they didn't minimize my situation. Instead they were very accommodating and made me feel like if it was important to me then they were there for me. My family and I have been going to Dr. Garrett for a few years. He is very nice. We also saw Dr. Pritchard, he too was nice. (He is no longer there). Then we saw Dr. wallport. She is nice. I am frustrated with them only because I came in for new glasses and they increased my prescription to make them stronger. Then I couldn't see to drive at night. All oncoming lights were streaking across my windshield. I went to an ophthalmologist and he said the glasses Dr. wallport prescribed are way to strong. He prescribed new one's and now I can drive anytime. I came back 2 years later, and Dr. wallport said you need stronger prescription galsses and you will need stronger ones every year. When I asked if I can keep my own frames and just pay for lenses, they said well you won't get the discount. So I picked out frames (nothing is cheap there), and by the time she added everything up, the bill was $445.00!!!!!! WTH??? AND I only have the 1 pair of glasses and she said we have to keep the ones you are wearing if you want us to make your new glasses. Ok, so I am supposed to go 2 weeks without any glasses?? Oh wait you think I am going to order 2 pair from you??? This office is all about MONEY$$$$$$$!!!!! Sorry, they are nice but nice is too expensive for me. NOT to mention, I paid $69 extra for the optomap and they didn't say anything about my cornea's. I went to another ophthalmologist and he sent me to a cornea specialist who told me my cornea on the top is FLAT and THAT is what is causing my blurred vision. The cornea specialist told me stronger prescription glasses will not correct it. I would need sclera contact lenses. Dr. Garrett's office does not know what they are doing. read more

The worse Customer Service in the City. I had my eye exam from them, I Got my glasses from them and every time I went to clean them. The lens would come out. I took them in and they tighten the screw and it lasted about a day or 2. I got so tired of taking them back that I stopped wearing the glasses. One day I decided to try again to wear them and yes again the lens came out. So I drove there again and this time the Tech told me that the lens were made wrong and that I needed to have new lens made AT A COST TO ME, because the warranty was over. I said that I took them so many times to get fixed when they were under warranty and why did they not say anything about the lens being made wrong back then? The tech just said sorry but I would have to pay to have them made again. SO YES this is the worse customer service and I would never go back there again and I also tell my friends to stay away from there. Maybe the Doctor should hire better Tech people to work for him or follow up on unhappy customers. read more

Dr. Phan is a new and welcome addition to San Dimas Optometry. I am very hard to fit with a high rx and high astigmatism. After a struggle with new glasses for over a year, I was ready to leave this practice. Friday I went in to get my medical records and Lisa (who has been the reason I've stayed with them this long) was concerned and let me know that Dr Walport was no longer with them. Dr. Walport had scared the snot out of me by saying that I needed Lasix with a cornea operation. She also said I had cataracts. LIsa asked me if I would like to see Dr. Phan (As I would be paying out of pocket if I went to another Optometrist). Dr Phan saw me right away. I explained that I had Never been diagnosed with corneal problems or cataracts. Upon examination, she saw that my corneas were healthy and that as far as cataracts are concerned, I was like a 1 out of 10. Normal aging. We are working out the previous problems and I am ordering glasses today. Dr Phan and LIsa both were positive that we could work out the previous problems I've had with my glasses. The office has always been very clean with the most up to date equipment. And, the office staff friendly and helpful. I will only ask for Lisa however when getting and fitting glasses and hope that they will train more of their staff to be as knowledgeable and empathetic. Dr. Phan's chairside manner was not at all intimidating. She was patient and through, encouraging and very gentle. I'll review them again after my new glasses come in, and the soft contacts. Seriously, though, Lisa outshines most techs. She is amazing and always ready to help without making you feel like you are a "problem patient". She and Dr Phan are the complete and welcome opposite of Dr Walport. I'm hoping the next review will be a 5 star. read more

Dr. Garret ROCKS! he is so caring and has been our doctor for over 15 years. His staff is friendly and informative. My daughter is 10 and wanted to know what each machine test did and they were very polite to explain it to her. Our 15 son is showing signs of future glaucoma, I appreciate that Dr. Garret will continue to do testing to make sure his eyes are kept healthy. As a parent I appreciate this kind of service. The Dr. Garratt is very nice and easy to ge to like. I paid extra for a photo of my eye so he could see changes from visit to visit. I was told everything looked good. The next day I had a diabetic attack (first time) and 4 days later I was in the hospital. I had told the Dr. and put it on admission forms that I had a sudden drastic change in vision and that is why I was there. I now know that is common symptom of diabetes and he didn't know that. Whe I later called with that information I was only offered another exam. Apparantly nobody cared their exam was faulty! His lack of basic medical knowlege affecting vision leaves me with zero confidence in his ability to take care of my eyes and his fancy photos do not make up for knowlege! read more

I've gone to a few different Optometrists over the years, but have stayed with Dr. Garratt and his terrific staff for many years. I happened to be in the office a few weeks ago when a very loud, and very rude young lady (obviously Samantha P. from the YELP message I just read) was in there screaming at the employees about how she shouldn't have to pay for copies of her medical records because they were HER records. REALLY! It's common practice for doctors' offices to charge you for copies of your records, whether it's a medical doctor, eye doctor, dermatologist, dentist, etc. I've done this quite a few times over the years because of insurance changes. She obviously doesn't realize how often records have to be copied and for how many patients. I felt terrible for all of the extremely nice young ladies who were working that day. And unlike what she wrote, they were calm and nice to her even as she continued to yell at them! I'm an elementary school teacher and have had a similar experience from a parent. It's very degrading. As a professional, you have to take it and not say what you'd like to. I highly recommend San Dimas Optometry. I'm extremely picky about glasses, so it takes me forever to pick out frames. But everyone working there is always patient, never hurries me and always makes sure I understand exactly what my insurance covers and what extras I might want. They're always available to me without an appointment or an extra charge whenever I need my glasses adjusted too. They really are the best! read more

They said they could, so I decided to go to their office first thing in the morning. Great experience from the moment I walked in. It is with great sadness that I write this review. My family have been patients of Dr. Garrett for the last 25 years. This year they have discontinued billing to medical insurance, which I understand. The changes in medical insurance have made it difficult for small business owners. I get it. I found this out when I needed to refill a prescription for a drug that controls the pressure in my eyes so that I won't go blind. When the pharmacy called for refill it was denied. I received a call from the office advising me that my options were to come in and pay cash for my visit or to get a referral to another doctor which would take time. I had already been without my medication for more than a week. I challenged the courteous and embarrassed young lady who called me, and she listened to my concerns and promised that she would return my call. A week later and no call. Did I mention that I have known Dr. Garrett for 25 years, and have faithfully supported his business referring friends and family. I am in complete dismay at this turn of events, and Now know that it's not about taking care of your patients, it's all about the dollar. Sad, just plain sad..... read more
