Everything looks and smell so good
    Tony J.

Customers were waiting for some delicious to be taken out of the bakery oven. Very inviting panaderia - everything looks and smells so good. We purchased some sweets and had the opportunity to taste some of the different variations of cultural sweetbreads. I especially like the coconut ones ! They had Good prices and fast service too. This is the first store on the right side of the front entrance. So when you walk in, you'll smell the very inviting fragrant bakery.

Ube halaya & ensaymada (hit the spot)

San Honore is inside Island Pacific Market in Lake Forest. They offer all your fave Flip bakery goods like ensaymada, siapao and ube items just to name a few. On my first occasion I bought ube halaya & ensaymada. Both items were very good, and comparable to other Flip chain bakeries. The cashiers are friendly, and they offer the same rewards program as the market: Just key in your phone number. In addition, you can enjoy your items in the same casual seating area as Phil House. Make it a trifecta when you visit Island Pacific like we did. We had a meal at Phil House, bought some groceries at IP, and then bought some sweets at San Honore on the way out. We were very happy.

Large pan de sal.$6/dozen.Worth every cent.

Pan de sal was the reason for this 8 am early visit. Warm and fresh baked. It's served in a white paper bag with a spare plastic bag for later storage. I ate one within minutes as I did when I grew up in Laguna, Philippines. Just the aroma is a time travel machine to my Lola's hometown bakery! Enjoy!

    5.99 price right there

My girlfriend and I came into store August 31st and made some purchases at the market and decided to shop here on the way out as well. We bought a Ube marble loaf that they had displayed on counter near register. All of them were labeled 5.99. We checked out and went to car and my girlfriend said we were overcharged and showed me receipt. We were charged 7.99. She insisted I went back in to have them correct it so I went back inside with her and kindly let them know we were overcharged and showed them receipt and price tag labeled on the package. The lady was rude and told me "no its 7.99" as if I am retarded and can't read numbers so I showed her the tag and this time she looked at it and then came around the counter to find them on the main shelf and said "see? They are 7.99" this lady picked up a completely different item to compare... so then we, once again, showed her the tag on item we purchased AND also showed her the display of the actual item we bought which were ALL labeled 5.99. Every single item. She was upset so called her manager to explain and complain in non English (my girlfriend understands) the manager apologized and said the items were mislabeled by his employees. I told him I understand and that happens as I have been a grocery manager for 14 years and have had to deal with same issues regularly. It happens. So they refunded money and that was it. We still wanted the loaf but they wouldn't sell it for labeled price and walked away from us making us feel oushed away and proceeded to put the product we walked out with BACK on the shelf... I have been in grocery for 20 years... you CAN'T put food that a customer walked out with and returned back on shelf for resell. People tamper with food and health codes are broken. This place needs to learn what good customer service is and basic health codes in regards to dealing with food. Anywhere else this would have happened, including my own stores, would have simply taken care of customer and charged them for the labeled price and fixed the others on the shelf afterwards. Simple. Instead, we were insulted and walked away with nothing to try from this bakery except for a terrible experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Partially eaten Cheese bomb - so yummy! It's a super soft pandesal with a sweet crumble on top filled with cream cheese.

Nice surprise! This little bakery on the right side just as you enter Island Pacific had 3 terrific bread options my friends and family absolutely enjoyed. What a treat for all! I haven't had super fresh pandesal (like from Betsy's) since I was a kid. The ones here are squarish, super soft, tasty and quite large. The cheese bomb bread had just the right balance of sweetness and unsweetened cream cheese filing, it's almost like you put a big scoop of Philadelphia cream cheese and put it inside a warm lightly sugared (on top) pandesal but the cheese didn't melt. I loved it! It's good, it's not too sweet. iykyk.

This is a bakery inside the new island pacific in Granada hills. Looks clean. Expensive bakery with subpar items. Pandesal is good and fluffy otherwise I would skip if you want other bread offerings. IMO the only one I would buy again. Siopao - super fluffy and soft with very little filling. Chunks of pork fat, I mean chunks probably a quarter worth of the little filling it has inside. Taho - the roughest silken tofu drink I've ever get had in my life PERIOD! Super pass!!!! Cheese roll - 6 small pieces for 8.99, if you have the money maybe ok, taste is ok. But again IMO way overpriced. I'm on the fence about this! Service is ok, they're nice.

Pork Asado Siopao and Chicken Empanada
    Dee A.

Island Pacific opened a location in SOC! Hooray! Inside the grocery store, is San Honore, a bakery that serves Filipino baked goods, and Taho (warm sweet soft tofu drink).   On my first visit, I tried their TAHO, EMPANADAS, and SIOPAO. The Taho tasted like crap, the Empanadas were mediocre, but their Siopao was great!    I had been craving Taho for the longest time, but I haven't found one that's nearly as good as the ones they sell at the dirty smelly streets in the Philippines.  Those are the best!  It is almost worth the trip.   The Empanadas weren't good at all.  It had way too much dry meat filling. It was tasty, but it was too much which made it overwhelmingly meaty.   The Siopao though, was delicious!  The bun was super soft, and the Pork Asado filling was just the right amount.  My favorite part was the bread bun; it was thick, moist, and with a slight hint of sweetness.    On my second visit, I got their UBE ROLL.  It just came fresh out of the oven, super soft, and steamy hot.  It was so good!  I almost ate the entire roll, but thankfully my son grabbed it away from me and devoured the rest of it.  This roll is not too sweet.  In fact, "sweet-tooths", won't probably appreciate the lightness of this pastry.   I'm so thankful for this small bakery shop inside Island Pacific.  I will definitely keep going back to taste more of their other baked goods.

Bread are yummy.. but the staffs here doesnt know how to smile.. ang susungit ng mga itsura.. not good!!!!!

These chicken empanadas are the best. The piece is not bad considering the cost of a burger.

5 stars for the goma matcha latte and milk bread with crunchy pearls!…read more The goma matcha latte 5/5 had a black sesame paste that was like the black sesame version of smooth peanut butter! One could probably eat it by the spoonful! Such a complex flavor complement to the matcha latte. The matcha latte (4/5) felt fairly strong (I estimate 4g at least), and the mango puree tasted real/ fresh but was nothing special. However, I did like that it was not too sweet. Caveat: I am partial to mango/coconut milk or mango sticky rice matcha lattes. The goma matcha was worth the $8 pricetag. Tip: Matcha Mondays=10% off matcha drinks! The mango one maybe was worth it due to the amount of matcha, but I do feel like I could make it at home. The milk bread ($5.50) was soft, with a delightful bursting sweet cream filling topped with those shite pearly crunchies-- unique and delicious. I also loved the kinako an pan (sweet bread with red bean filling, $5.50) because of the nostalgic flavors, but also because the azuki bean had a nice crunchy sugar quality. It was on the drier side the day after purchase, but I enjoyed it. Service was cheerful and speedy. The space is pretty large with probably as much outdoor seating as indoor, and there were a few open spots at 1:30 on a Monday. Parking was plentiful in the shared plaza lot with some shady spots. I would drive back just for that goma matcha latte!! Also to try a few other breads or for a nice friend date spot to sit outside.

You order at the register and they'll bring your order to you when it's ready. I got the hojicha latte and added sweetener. The flavor was really good but it was all ice and not fully filled the cup. Felt like without ice it would have filled a shot glass. I got the chicken pesto which was delicious. Had great flavor and portion and I enjoyed the salad it came with. The mango cream bread had a good amount of cream and the filling was delicious. The chocolate cookie was good but so hefty. I ordered the matcha cheesecake and original cheesecake thinking it was the soft and fluffy texture but it had a thick consistency. The matcha was good with a very strong matcha flavor and the original had a slight lemon flavor. I enjoyed all the food and sweets here, but a bit disappointed with their drink portion.

I've heard all the buzz about this place and I have had it bookmarked since owner and chef Kian Moltaji first opened. I am happy to say that I finally had a chance to go. I am literally kicking myself for not having gone sooner because of ALL the bakeries I have been to...I can honestly say that this is by far my absolute favorite. They are open Wednesday through Sunday only so keep that in mind. Chef Kian, offers French pastries that will have you wanting more with the very first bite. The bakery not only smells amazing but it's clean inside and decorated with some pretty live plants. I mean, the bakery made me smile just walking in. Don't know. There are several small tables that line two side walls, just perfect for some coffee and chill with a friend. What I ordered. 1) almond & raspberry danish 5/5 - OMG. I love almond desserts and pastries but I am always so hesitant to take the first bite because they're usually crazy sweet. Not this. This was crispy, flaky, moist, tasty and perfectly sweetened. 2) caramelized almond croissant 5/5 - another super good almond pastry. You'd think being that it is caramelized that this would be cavity inducing but it is far from that. Just the right sweetness. 3) guava cheese 5/5 - really good. What I liked was the soft sweetness of the cheese which usually overpowers cheese pasties everywhere else. 4) chocolate croissant - I didn't get to try this. The kids devoured it so quickly I didn't even have a chance. They did enjoy it very much and had to split the two between them since it's a fairly large pastry. They asked for me to buy more of it, so I'm guessing it must've been a 5/5 for them too. The kids are already bugging about going as soon as they open again to which I will happily oblige. I need to snag me some of the pistachio pastries next time. I hear those are amazing. So happy to have them so close to home.

The first two times, I focused on the laminated pastries - almond croissant, kouign amman (filled with pastry cream) and a guava pastry. Sadly, this is where I don't think Diotima does that well - my chocolate croissant was on the doughier side - think a more bready Costco croissant. I thought the kouign amman was really dense, as was the almond croissant. I love my laminated pastries and found them dense, as if the dough got too warm. However, the bright spots are the cookies and the eclair. I actually thought the cookie was one of the best I've ever tasted - great chewy texture, even when cold, delicious complex flavor, with salty bits running through it. Actually really fabulous. The eclair was also good - I do find that based on the eclair and filled kouign amman, I find the pastry cream too thick and sticky - it just has a very sticky mouthfeel. I haven't tried any of the drinks, but I think I'll stick to Diotima's cookies, cakes and refrigerated desserts. For laminated pastries, I think Chaupain does a fine job.
