Bagels and Brew is a happening spot pretty much every day of the week! I've probably been there 10 times and it doesn't matter what time of day but it's always pumping. They have a vast menu however, all I've ever ordered is the bagels. If you look around, you can see people are ordering all kinds of things from breakfast dishes to bagels and even lunch sandwiches. The crew is friendly and they bring your order to your table if you dine in. They have festive bagels like unicorn and holiday colors that are pretty much just a plain bagel with different colors, but it's fun for the kids. We tried their everything bagel and blueberry bagel. We had regular cream cheese on the everything bagel and strawberry cream cheese on the blueberry bagel and it was delicious. The only thing I would recommend is that they could've been a little more heavy-handed on the cream cheese. It was a little light compared to other places around town. I'm guessing I could've specified that when I made the order. We had a nice time, dining in and enjoying our food. There are two rooms to sit in and lots of seating. read more

LOVE!!! We got massages right next door and decided to try Bagels & Brew for brunch- we had such a nice time! They have a full menu (breakfast, lunch, coffee), and breakfast is served all day. The bagels are fresh and SO good. I got a latte, and my sister and I shared the french toast & avacadowich. The eggs were cold on the sandwich but other than that, everything was great. Really great prices too! We are excited to come back and also get some bagels and some of their unique flavored cream cheese to go. There are lots of tables, inside and outside. We opted to sit on the patio. There is no music so we just put some Parisian Cafe lofi on my phone to set the mood. Also love that all the plates and utensils are disposable. Staff were fab!! My coworker introduced bagels and brew to me and I am soooo grateful. I had been craving a good bagel and this deff hit the spot. I get the might mission viejo - beware it is MESSY! But so so worth it. I don't recommend getting it if you're on a lunch break or with coworkers cause when I say it's messy, it's messy. I've been back a few times on my own and with family and it's my fav order. We've tried their other bagels and cream cheeses and they're really good as well. After going to Calf and Chick, we noticed Bagel and Brew across the street and a few of our friends wanted to check it out for more of a brunch vibe. Most people got bagels with eggs and drinks like coffee and matcha. Overall, everyone said their coffees and lattes were pretty good and exactly what they were looking for. I decided to get the Strawberry Matcha and my wife did too since it was recommended, but this was honestly a miss. As soon as we got it, the color was super pale green which was already a red flag, and after the first sip it just tasted like straight Strawberry Milk. No real matcha flavor at all, very milky, very sweet, and just not it. Definitely not a place I would ever order matcha from again. That being said, the bagels were actually really good. We tried a few different ones like a Sourdough, Wheat, and a more classic rainbow style bagel, and all of them were light, airy, and still had that fluffy but slightly chewy texture you want. The cream cheese was also very good. It seems like this place leans way more into their bagels than anything else, which makes sense. If you are coming here for bagels and coffee, you will probably be happy. Just skip the matcha. read more

Their bagels are the best in town!! I have been going here for years! And even after moving to SD i have yet to find anything close to this. Their prices are also unbeatable!! I got their french toast bagel with apricot cream cheese and blueberry bagel with maple walnut cream cheese. Neither were extremely sweet. On the other hand, if you are looking for a good cup of coffee then you might want to go somewhere else. Their coffee is not very good. Came here this past Sunday with a friend around 8:30am and I guess we got there at a good time because it got packed as soon as we sat down and got our food! They have an extensive menu with a lot to choose from and while we were deciding a sweet lady came over mentioning how anything and everything that she's ordered here has been great and they haven't done her wrong since the past 8 years she's been coming. Even the waiter knew her and called her by name which gave me a lot of confidence when I placed my order! I got the Sun-dried Tomato & Basil Sunrise sandwich on an onion bagel, and my friend got a vegetable omelette with a side of sourdough toast. We sat down after ordering but didn't realize that they had extra seating further in the back right of the restaurant which may have been a quieter spot. The food came out pretty quickly and it was all still very warm and fresh from them making it in the back. I liked my bagel and appreciated the fresh, ripe tomato and onions with a fried egg on top, but my only wish was that I could have tasted the sun-dried tomatoes a bit better since I felt that pop of flavor was lacking (or maybe even entirely missing?). My friend shared with me her toast and omelette as well! The toast was great even despite my liking more of a crispy crunch (you can never really mess up toast), but similarly to my bagel, I felt the omelette was lacking a bit in a pop of flavor. Perhaps more salt and maybe using shredded cheese instead of laying a slice on top would have helped with that. Overall it was a decent breakfast and a filling way to start the day, but nothing to write home about. My wife and I met with a friend here recently and although I frequent the Mission Viejo location more often due to closer to my house, I used to live a block from this location. The food here is always good, there's so much more than just Bagels and Brew! They have very good breakfasts, and good sammiches too! This place can get busy, but it seems to always move quickly, and I've never had an issue finding a seat to eat. I've been following Bagels & Brew on social media and finally went there to buy the colorful bagels. They are as pretty in person as they are in the pictures! A couple things to be aware of: 1. Apparently there is a restriction of 6 bagels per walkup order. Not sure if you can order more by calling in advance, but that was good to know from the sign near the cashier. 2. The bagels were a little more dry than regular bagels. The good news is that I smothered mine in cream cheese which hid that fact a little. I would like to go back and try their breakfast menu during my next visit. It was busy when I was there so I'm guessing that's a good sign. read more

Anyway, they have a very relevant and tasty menu. Within this menu, they have one of the best Chicken Clubs. I had my Chicken Club made on an everything bagel. It complemented the bacon, juice, and chicken. Mentally, it sent me back to New York City. Time after time, they put quality in your hands despite the mad rush every morning. As for the vibe, it was definitely a hometown hangout. I've been missing you guys in and around Aliso Viejo. A fantastic local neighborhood bagel joint, and while I'm not going to pretend like I'm any acolyte in terms of what makes a good bagel, though certainly I will say that the whole obsession over New York bagels is certainly overblown, what Bagels & Brew provides is a great casual experience where you can get a solid bagel and coffee in the morning. It's never been too crowded in my experience but certainly it's always lively, I've never had a hard time getting my order in and having it out in relatively record time. I personally almost always get a bagel sandwich, and they really load it up with the ingredients. My appetite is admittedly shrinking these days, but the portion sizes are pretty hefty and absolutely filling, at least in terms of the usual morning offerings. The prices are also pretty fair for the amount you get. I admittedly don't often crave bagels, but I certainly never regret coming here for breakfast. I have been coming to this location for 20 years, then moved away like a fool. Was recently back in town and made a beeline for my favorite place for breakfast. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review. First and foremost, I've always loved their rustic cafe vibe that celebrates coffee and good food. The kitchen is always hustling to get food out fast and hot. Gotta love that. We luckily came at the right time...no line! Got my favorite breakfast ever, the Baja scramble (no green chilis) with a toasted spinach & herb bagel. Food came out quickly! Was actually surprised because it typically takes roughly 15 minutes or so on busier days. The scramble was utter perfection...pepper jack cheese melted on top, perfectly diced red onions, crispy bacon, chunks of tomato and cilantro. This must be what heaven is made of. Every bite was utterly scrumptious, gooey, savory and fulfilling. I love the herbaceous flavor of the spinach and herb bagel...it's a perfect complement to this scramble. My only issue is that I ordered it toasted, easy cream cheese...and it was barely toasted and I took off enough cream cheese to spread on two other bagels, easily. It was a total waste. I know a lot of people love their coffee here but it's typically a pass for me since I'm a very high maintenance coffee drinker. This was our second visit to Bagels & Brew, and unfortunately it will likely be our last. Our first experience here was excellent, which is why we decided to come back. Sadly, the customer service we received this time was completely different and very disappointing. The order taker at the kiosk, Maria, was smiling, laughing, and very friendly with the customers ahead of us. However, the moment it was my husband's and my turn, her entire demeanor changed. She became cold, short, and acted as if we were inconveniencing her just by being there. There was no greeting, no friendliness, and the interaction felt uncomfortable from the start. To be honest, the contrast in how she treated others compared to us made us feel like we were being profiled, which is not something I've ever felt at a restaurant before. It was extremely uncomfortable and disappointing. I run a Tech company myself, so I fully understand how important world-class customer service is. Every customer deserves to feel welcomed and respected, no matter who they are. In the service industry, I would expect that standard to be even higher. Because of this interaction, what should have been a pleasant breakfast turned into a very negative experience. It's unfortunate, especially because we actually liked this place the first time we visited. For the ambience and the food! Sadly, after this experience we won't be returning, and we will be warning our friends and family about what happened. Had such a great experience here that I felt compelled to leave a review. My friends and I were hanging out outside the shop, opening World Cup sticker packs and enjoying the afternoon. At one point, a staff member was walking by, so we asked them the very important question of which pack we should open next. They laughed and played along, which made the whole experience feel fun and personal. The real surprise came later. As they were getting ready to close, that same employee came back out and gave us some cinnamon bites for free instead of letting them go to waste. Such a small gesture, but it absolutely made our day. The bagels were great, but what really stood out was the kindness and friendliness of the staff. It's rare to find places that make you feel genuinely welcome, even when you're just sitting outside opening sticker packs and having a good time with friends. Let me be honest, I was highly influenced to go here simply for the fact that they were offering Halloween bagels during spooky season and ya girl is a spooky girl BUT the bagels hit the freaking spot! The service was as fast as they could be, they were heavily busy when we had gone. I would say there was ample seating inside and outside but we had gone when some type of sports practice had ended so they were swamped to say the least. We eventually found seating and let me tell you, both the bagel sandwiches we got were so good! I had to get a few bagels to take home to my nieces and nephew but when my fiancé went to pay, they only had 1 left but right before he turned back around to come tell me, out comes some fresh ones! I came here on a quite busy morning, and I was able to order pretty quickly despite that, which was really nice. It was poppin' in the store, and I saw a lot of bodies come in and out. I guess plenty of peope call their order in or place an order online. The store itself is really cute. It looks like a cross between an old-timey pub and a breakfast spot. I could definitely sit here and enjoy a good meal with some company. Onto the reason I gave it a 3. The bagels are a little bit disappointing for how well this place is rated. I found the everything bagel that I ordered (in an open faced sandwich) was a little gummy and dry. With so many chains that offer a decent bagel, I can't justify the quality and taste of the bagel here. Texturally, it's missing something for sure. It still is a cute little establishment, but I just wish it were a tad bit more elevated in quality. This place could be an easy 5 stars if it wanted to. I just moved to the area and was looking for a nearby bagel spot. This place popped up on the list but I was kind of wary due to the middling reviews (3.7 at time of writing). I decided to just go check it out and was pleasantly surprised by the cute interior, good variety of bagels/breakfast options, and the secret standout - their delicious iced coffee. I've been about a dozen times since then and now I understand why this place scores on the lower end. It all comes down to the service. For whatever reason, the morning crew here is incredibly rude. Which is so bizarre considering the clientele is very local and consists of families, senior citizens and office workers grabbing something to eat on the way to work - A pleasant morning vibe. But every time I go in, the cashiers look like they want to kill me on the spot and are offended by my presence. No greetings or good mornings, just an icy cold stare that makes you uncomfortable. Ordering from them is incredibly painful and I've seen them be very short with some other guests who dare to ask a question or two. This is made even weirder by the fact that some of the workers are very nice, but for whatever reason they choose to staff the asocial A-team on the register. It honestly feels like one of those restaurants from Kitchen Nightmares where it turns out the owner/manager is a complete maniac making everyone miserable or something. I have a feeling there's some drama behind the scenes but c'est la vie. It's a shame because the place could be the perfect neighborhood breakfast spot, but as it stands you get treated better at Starbucks. In fact, if you look at all the 1star reviews, it's pretty much all due to the crappy service. I generally like Bagels & Brew, but today I stopped in just for a cinnamon raisin bagel and it was not good. I've had them there before, and they were good. It has been awhile, but really? It didn't look right, or smell right. They should be brown with cinnamon, and have visible raisins; and smell like cinnamon. I actually thought the girl had grabbed the wrong one, so had it exchanged (still looked the same). I was hoping the flavor would at least be there. No such luck. It barely had any flavor at all. I've lived across the street from this location my entire life, so I'd like to give it a fair shot here. Their food is good, the menu is massive, and I've never once had a bad encounter with the folks running the shop. That being said, whoever it was who suggested they swap out their (admittedly outdated-looking) original online ordering system with their current one supported by Toast, should be made to pay a fine to me personally. It just doesn't work half the time and you constantly find yourself staring at a blank screen that won't let you add items to a cart that itself sometimes ignores the "Add to Cart" button. Again, I love the food, the staff is great, but management needs to either put some pressure on Toast to fix their ordering form or swap back to their old one because I'd rather leap from a ten-story window than have to enter and re-enter my order another time. read more
