The Yelp reviews are true!! I've bookmarked this place for a while and finally was in the area so stopped in for some zoolbia (these amazingly crisp and sweet funnel-cake-looking sweets). I usually get these from Wholesome Choice market or Assal Bakery (both in Irvine off the 5 and Culver) but this place was a step above!! These ones were perfectly crisp and the syrup didn't taste sugary sweet but more like a honey sweet, I think. All the other sweets and baked goods looked tempting, but in trying to keep my figure, I kept my order to a few items. I got two zoolbia, a pistachio baklava and one bar of rose Turkish delight (I believe the total was just under $16?). The baklava was the best I've tasted. It had a base of shredded wheat and filling was dense and chewy while still being crisp and perfectly sweet. Oh my!! This is some magic! I haven't tried the Turkish delight yet but it looks amazing. Service was also very sweet. The lady behind the counter greeted me and my husband with samples of some freshly baked cookies (I can't recall the name but they were rolled cookies with a center of custard and nuts) and they were also so divine!! I had a meeting with a client so i wanted to bring in some cookies as treat for the staff. I didnt want to do your typical cookie tray from a chain so i looked on yelp and found this little shop in the plaza across the street from my office. First thing as i walked in the lady at the counter offered me what seemed to be a freshly baked pastry bite as it was still slightly warm. I believe the filling had some kind of almond paste so it was slightly sweet but still buttery and flaky. I ended up getting a box of assorted cookies for my meeting. I plan to stop by here more often as the typical persian pastry place i go to is over on Culver but i assume with the new Tokyo Central opening up that the parking situation over there will be really bad so not as convenient as this place in Lake Forest. read more

They offer a small almond pastry as customers enter. People hesitate to call it "almond" because it has mainly starch as filler. I laboriously express gratitude for the freebie, wishing for explicit pricing. The best thing I had here was the macaroon(4/5). It is nicely caramelized, buttery and not-too-sweet.
