Piere helped us pick out a beautiful fabric, rightly recommended to have the inner foam wrapped in plastic and added a zipper behind each so they could be easily cleaned in case of an "oops". All of this was rather a last minute thought before my wife's big milestone birthday party. Piere and his team delivered so quickly - half of the time promised and the results are absolutely gorgeous. The stitching and attention to detail was excellent. Needless to say these guys did an absolutely amazing job. From picking material to the craftsmanship itself it was 5 stars. I had these custom MCM chairs from the 1950's that I had worked on for quite a while but couldn't do the upholstery myself. It was hard finding a competitive price around the Bay Area but man these guys are an insane deal. All of these chairs were done in real leather from piping to side trims, every chair was consistent and completely redone in only 4 DAYS! We did not have a good experience with San Jose Custom Upholstery. Although Dan cheerfully helped us pick out some fabric books and answered questions, when we dealt with Dan's co-owner Piere, we quickly got a full dose of Piere's "sense of humor" and temperament. Piere wasted no time insulting Dan (behind his back) and was abrasive to me, perhaps to look cute in front of my wife (lol! as if...), but it was clearly odd, unprofessional and a preview of what was to come. We ultimately picked several swatch books to bring home. Once home, we texted questions to Piere, but received an incomplete response and an anemic quote so my wife called him. Her inquiry set him off, and he became agitated and verbally abusive, accusing my wife of being insulting and said she was haggling by asking for an advertised 10% discount, and inquiring about pickup and delivery options. The unprofessionalism and lack of fundamental customer service skills made it easy to pass on San Jose Custom upholstery. read more

I had an easy chair, a swivel-rocker-recliner, that I had for 20 years. I tried to buy a new one but ....they just don't make them like they used to. So I decided to keep the one I had and renew it. Piere was very accommodating. It seemed that there was no end to the quality and colors of leather he had me choose from. I found one sample of leather that was just like the one my "old chair" had. He said he would fix the creaks and groans that the wooden substructure made after 20 years. He said he would renew the padding to make it like new. I asked for a few extras and he was happy to accommodate. The finished product was beautiful. The leather was so beautiful and the chair was so comfortable with the padding he used. The wood no longer creaked. I happily recommend him and would use his services again. read more

We needed a custom cover made for a Laz-Z-Boy reclining couch that has great sentimental values to me and my wife. The cover is needed to protect the original upholstery while allowing our two Labrador Retrievers (i.e., our two hundred pounds of fur) to hang out with us and our kids when enjoying movies together. Piere and his crew spent time with us to go through the different types of material available, the advantages and disadvantages of each, the durability of each, and gave us time to choose the colors/patterns we desired. His crew picked up the couch from our house, did a beautiful job with the cover (and it was a fantastic fit), and delivered the completed couch to our house. Their workshop is small and very basic but they have a wide range of fabric samples you can order from and rolls of fabric in-house.
