The food is excellent here, as well as the service. My co-workers and I came for lunch and it was very efficient.

We arrived on an early Saturday afternoon and took seats at the empty bar, meaning no one was tending the bar or sitting at it. We got service about 3-4 minutes later. The menus were pretty beaten up and faded. I wanted a unique drink, but I just didn't want alcohol; mocktails would have been a nice addition to the menu. Of course, we got chips and salsa, very enjoyable. Chips were thin, crispy, and hot. Salsa was flavorful, with just hint of spice. They have very small water glasses, I needed several refills. I did get a Mexican Coke, and the bartender cut a whole lime cut in wedges, which was very kind of him. We waited a little while for us to get our food which was an order of Baja fish tacos and an order of steak tacos. 3 tacos came with each order along with lime wedges, black beans and yellow rice. The fish tacos just needed a little something extra, all they had was cabbage and a little bit of sauce. They needed a side of guac or at the least, some pico. And I didn't love the batter on the fish, it was crispy, but heavy. I usually like a beer batter and this wasn't that, it reminded me more of a cornmeal batter. The carne asada tacos were far better. Onions, cilantro, and chili de arbol. Very good quality mat with a nice sear on the outside. I liked the bar atmosphere, it did remind me a little of Baja, with the stone carvings and dark atmosphere. Fair experience all things considered, but could've been a little better. read more

A dining group I'm part of decided to meet here for a lunch on the Tuesday after New Years. We had a reservation, so were seated immediately, as the rest of the eight filtered in. The server walking me to the table (I arrived first!) couldn't find the reservation, and when the organizer arrived, I discovered it was for 10, not eight. They were quickly able to pull another table into play, but it was a bit large for the space - long and narrow. But we made it work. The stars go all to the food. I really enjoyed my quesadilla rancheros with grilled chicken. My partner was a little disappointed with the food he got and said the steak wasn't seasoned enough but the dessert was awesome for both churros and the cheesecake. HORRIBLE. We have tried numerous times to order from this restaurant and they never send the correct order. I called yesterday to talk with manager as I ordered two entries. Only 1 salsa was sent (should have been 2) and they did not include the beans with the entree I ordered. The woman I talked to was RUDE and ultimately hung up on me, then filed a complaint with DoorDash. REALLY! They made the mistake and tried to blame it on me. Go to another Mexican Restaurant. The management of this establishment is beyond rotten. This is not the first time this has happened. It is hit and miss with what you get and you will not get any resolution from the management. The food was great. The portions were pretty big. The service was excellent. They have a regular salsa, not too spicy, they have a verde and a poblano sauce that is a little more spicy, and they have a habanero sauce that was perfect. If you go, ask for Chris as he was a great waiter. (I've been here 4x in the last 3 days.) The chicken fajita salad was $12, and the salmon and grilled veggies was $20. I didn't want rice so they doubled up my veggies. Spectacular! There were a couple of birthdays and they like to sing happy birthday to the customers and give them a little dessert. My wife enjoys the ceviche here a lot. They are fairly consistent with it, have this yummy homemade habanero hot sauce & crackers. I usually get the chicken burrito bowl.. & we always start with a guacamole. Service is quick & the environment supports quite a few people, so it can get pretty loud at times. I placed a simple order for chicken nachos. I go pick it up. Get it all the way home no nachos just the filling/toppings still yummy. I call let them know that the nachos are missing & I'd be coming to pick them up.. I was. Immediately met with rudeness bring the bag. No, it's in there. I get to the store and he tells me oh no that's how it's supposed to be because cost have gone up. And proceeds to tell me that there is nachos on the bottom no apology no accountability.. Food was fine. My main concern is the prices for alcoholic beverages and the quality of it. I spent $16 for juice. Chilis would never. The prices of the food as well do not match the quality. Tacos are expensive, one shrimp taco is $6 and you get half a cup of sides for your rice and beans. The experience of going out for Mexican is a high-low hit-miss great-blah experience. This place is high middle for each of those scales. The staff are both inviting and attentive. The environment is filled with an upbeat ambiance that made our birthday celebration memorable. The food came out leaving us to wonder how they could possibly have sizzled up the steaming fajitas that quickly. The brirra steak tacos looked great, however may require utensils to eat as they fell apart when attempting to eat them with fingers. The red artsy orbs of the lamps towering over from the ceiling is eye catching. I do recommend this place for a quick bite of above average Mexican. read more

Me and my boyfriend ate here with our family we split the bill and i payed for only me and my boyfriend mind you i got a the burrito deluxe and he got the tacos birria and we calculated it we would've pay 30 to 40 dollars our check was 60+ we didn't notice it till we left they either over charged us or mixed our payments with someone else's. What a delightful experience. We're from out of town so we had no idea what to expect. Our fajitas (mixed chicken and steak) were scrumptious! We asked to have the vegetables well done, which they did so well that our food had a slight crunch to it! Service was excellent as was the ambience. I can't resist one more comment, this one is about the seating and decor. My chronic back problems mean that I need comfortable chairs in order to fully enjoy my meal. This restaurant not only has cushioned booths, but the regular chairs were stylishly designed (made from repurposed oak barrels) and cushioned as well! Even the outdoor tables and chairs looked comfy, though it was too cool outside for that. The decorations were stylish and tasteful. Very nice waitress who was attentive throughout. The atmosphere is very nice too. We've eaten here several times and always enjoyed it. This time I had a chicken chimichanga with rice and beans. The refried beans were cold and the rice was barely warm. The chili could have been warmer too. Flavor wise everything was very good, but it would have been nice to get the food while it was warm. My spouse had a steak quesadilla that she enjoyed. Her food seemed to be a bit warm, except the rice. I hate to see food thrown out so we didn't complain and just ate it, but I hope the mgr or owner sees this review. read more

Ambiance pleasant - divided areas with lots of semi-private, comfortable booths. Comfortable vibe. Our server, Evelyn, was quick to greet us and friendly. Food was great, with one glitch; we ordered the tableside guacamole which was a little salty for my taste and, when I mentioned it to Evelyn, she returned quickly with the quacamole tray, and made the perfect dish. First time checking this place out and it was just ok, I've had better Mexican food. The problems I had was the prices of drinks were more than the food itself and that's where they make their money. Absolutely delicious - I'm surprised at the average rating here only being 3.5 stars! My friend and I came here for dinner on a Thursday night and this place was full, the people here must love it. The restaurant starts you off with complimentary chips and salsa, very nice. We ordered a side of fresh guacamole and it's so cool, they bring a cart and make it right in front of you. Then we had the tacos de birria which were so delicious because the pork was so tender and the flavor of the sauce was outstanding. My friend's chipotle chicken burrito was good too, I'm not a fan of chipotle sauce, but the chicken inside of it was very good! On top of that, they had my favorite beer on tap - Yuengling! Service was quite outstanding, servers would check in on you every few minutes. Food came out super good. Outside seating was a hit with the outside temp of 88F that day, it didn't feel that hot. We have eaten here a number of times and have always been satisfied with our meals. Tonight we had delivery through GrubHub. Very disappointing. Guacamole was soupy with little flavor, except spiciness. Mushroom quesadillas were sitting in a pool of grease (even though they had little cheese on them) so they were soggy and barely warm.. We ordered vegetarian enchiladas and chose to pay extra for a side of black beans which we did not get - - don't know whether it was the fault of the restaurant or the delivery service. San Jose in Brier Creek used to be our go-to Mexican restaurant but it is absolute garbage now. The last few times we have ordered we have ordered take out. 100% of the time the order is wrong and even though we purchase 4 entrees they only give one tiny container of salsa. I've asked for more salsa but they threaten to charge extra which is absolutely ridiculous because if we went there to eat we would be able to get as much salsa as we wanted. They should at least give one tiny container of salsa per entree purchased! I refuse to eat in their restaurant because the service is abysmal. I really wish they would close down and a decent Mexican restaurant would open in their place. Or maybe they need new owners to correct all of the issues. read more

We started out with one server, then ended up with another server. Not sure what happened to the first. Idk if management changed or what happened but I've been to this location many times before and loved the food. However this time we went it was terrible. I ordered the enchilada supreme and when it came out it was DRENCHED in sauce. The meats inside were dry and bland. I only took 1 bite of each enchilada and none of them were good. So I called the waitress over and told her I didn't care for it and it wasn't what I expect and her manager told her that if we didn't pay for the meal she would have to pay. I felt bad so I told her we would still pay for it and that I would just like to get a new order of the Chimichanga dinner (which I knew I would like because I had it before). But NOPE! When it came out the chicken was dry and bland as well. The rice had a weird taste and the beans were orange?! They didn't even taste like beans. We also got a side of queso and it was $7??! That's insane to me. We barely ate the food. Got a box so we didn't look rude. But we ended up paying for everything and left VERY unsatisfied and still hungry. We came here on a Thursday evening and it was a decent amount of people here but we were able to get seated right away. The restaurant is spacious with many tables and is brightly decorated. We sat for an extended period of time before anyone came to take our drink orders. I ended up ordering the house margarita. It was frozen and tasted good but it did not taste or feel like I was drinking an alcoholic drink. Those that I dined with felt the same way about their drinks. Much more time passed before someone came to take our food order. While we waited we were given lots of chips and salsa. The spicy salsa was good. I ended up ordering the carnitas tacos with beans and rice. The food was really good. The meat was tender but the beans were bland. The food was fresh and served warm. We were provided with homemade hot sauce with our dinner that had a nice kick. There were several birthday celebrations while we dined so we heard the staff singing happy birthday with instruments to different patrons. Our server Ramon was nice and attended to all of our needs. There was a 5% convenience fee added to all bills when you dine here. Outside of the really slow service we enjoyed ourselves. read more

Can't believe I haven't rated San Jose yet. I have been going since 2015 for Cinco de Mayo so it's definitely become a tradition. The food is what I call fancy Mexican versus the normal tex-mex type menu. This time I got the San Jose Burito because I wanted something with chorizo. It was gigantic and very good. Enough for leftovers. The Pork Caritas is very good and would highly recommend here. They also make fresh guacamole at the table as spicy as you want. Love fresh guac! We have always had a great experience and excellent service. We will continue to frequent San Jose and recommend you try it as well. read more

It was so great that I found this delicious gem in my neighborhood! I walked by San Jose's a couple of weeks ago and decided a couple of days ago to go for dinner. When I arrived, I think they thought I was with Door Dash, so I was ignored for a few minutes and then finally greeted and taken to a table outside. I checked out the menu and then asked the server if the shrimp tacos came with beans. He had to check with someone and then told me yes. So, I got the and asked for black and refried beans. Everything came out looking and tasting delicious! I barely got a picture before I was digging in. The tacos had better flavor with each bite. The spice and a hint of sweetness were there without being too overpowering or salty. I literally could've eaten a few of these tacos but moved onto the refired beans that had the consistency of paste, but they were okay. The black beans were what really shined--thick, smooth, and not too lumpy. Also, it is full of flavor. I think the next time I would get all black beans as they were so good! Minus one star for the lackluster service and non-impressive salsa. I think that the guy was a little overwhelmed. It wasn't super busy, but I just felt he was a little stressed. To me, the salsa could've had more flavor and spice. It tasted pretty boring. read more
