Carolina Ale House Review - 3/5 It was our last day in town, and we wanted something quick while still getting a taste of some local favorites. Since Carolina Ale House was close to where we were staying, we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere definitely had that classic ale house vibe, with plenty of local beers on tap along with other familiar beer options. It felt like a nice casual spot to unwind and grab a bite. We all ordered something different, which was nice for variety. I had the hibachi shrimp, while the others had tacos with chips, and my son kept it simple with chicken tenders and fries. The food overall was okay, but my dish was a little disappointing. Everything on my plate--between the soup, pilaf rice, broccoli, and shrimp--seemed to carry almost the exact same flavor, so I didn't really get to enjoy the distinct hibachi taste I was expecting. One highlight for me was definitely the spicy margarita--the flavor was delicious. My husband also really enjoyed the "Ale Yeah" 16 oz. I love going to this Ale House location to watch the Canes games. The parking is easy, the bathrooms are clean, the beers are cold, the food is always good, and service is great. They have so many TVs that there is not a bad seat in the main part of the dining area. Kiyah was our server last night and she was especially amazing! The place was absolutely packed but Kiyah was attentive and got every order right. I really love her personality, too. Definitely will seek out her section next time we go there. read more

The manager literally shrugged her shoulders & stated "Yeah that's been an issue, we've been treating for it" and walked away as if I was she was annoyed / inconvenienced that I brought it to her attention! The grilled chicken Cobb salad was really good. Came here on a Wednesday night and it was not packed. The vibe is sports bar inside with lots of tvs around the bar and wooden booth seating around for dining. While the food was good and the place wasn't packed, it took our server quite a while to come greet/take our drink orders from the beginning. My spouse and I went here for a late dinner and we had a good experience. The place was not busy at all and was clean. We started off with the cheese and bacon fries which were delicious and very big for an appetizer. The ranch was also sooo good. I did the pick two with the 6 ounce sterling and quarter rack of ribs and a side Caesar salad and my spouse. Had the patty melt with the mixed green salad. Our food was very good. We ate here on March 24, 2025. A good friend was in town from out of state. I wanted to get him a nice steak and the one previous time I had CAH's 28 day aged ribeye, I thought it was excellent. We both got the ribeye and it was excellent on this visit too. The menu online as I write says the 12 oz. 28 day aged ribeye is $29.89 including grilled mushrooms, roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes. I recall being slightly disappointed that baked potatoes were no longer an option, but the food was so good, that was not an issue. Service was good, the food was good. I thought it was worthy of the occasion. I have been to this store on at least 6-8 previous visits, although I did not usually get steak. I usually got one of their sandwiches. I liked all those I've had. There is another CAH closer to me that gets terrible reviews. This is a pretty decent location for work lunch. Fairly fast service and not super busy. We were able to be in and out pretty quickly without feeling like I'm under time crunch. Food was OK. I had Artisan 5-Cheese Spinach Dip and Southwest Blackened Chicken Sandwich, and I had mixed feelings. Spinach dip was delicious - This dish never fails me! However, the dip to pita / chips (stale btw) ratio was stupid. Our table finished the dip before we ate half the pita and chips. It was kind of disappointing to see how little dip came with a large amount of pita and chips. Chicken sandwich was OK, but I don't think I would order it again. The sauce that came with the sandwich and fries were delicious, but it still didn't make up for the lack of taste on the sandwich. It was overall quite an underwhelming experience. Pretty decent on tap selection, food is reasonably priced and honestly pretty good for a sports bar. Service is probably not the absolute best we've had, like they'd say extra napkins or a water refill is coming up and it actually never happens but our servers were always friendly and easy going so I'll take that. Last time we were here I got a house garden salad with shrimp which is a very generously sized salad served with a skewer of grilled shrimp and a bunch or dressing, I enjoyed it. And our waitress, I believe her name was chance was quick to bring out our waters and then the beers! After awhile I ordered the Pub Burger very good! French fries were ok! This place is hit and miss . Ordered Grouper fingers one time they're great . About six filets . Next time I got four dried up pieces of batter . There was hardly any fish in them. A comfortable, slightly sticky, chain American pub house. Rustic cute decor. Lots of TVs. Good beer selection on draft. Liked the tomato bisque, thick and flavorful. Fried tenders were above average, nicely crunchy and moist inside. On the fried chicken salad, they were pretty tasty, though for the salad itself, the lettuce was starting to be on the brown side, and the big pile of cheese, egg, and whatever else soundly defeated any attempt to feel like you were enjoying a green salad with your tenders. The boneless zingers (aka wings/tenders) were similarly prepared, just tossed in your choice of sauce. The wife's choice was carolina bbq, which was tasty, very sweet and a little smokey, reminded me of pork ribs in flavor more than chicken. It's a pleasant enough place when you want a wide selection of dishes and some drafts. I've come to this place a couple of times and I am mostly giving it three stars because usually the waiters or waitresses take forever to come back and ask if we need anything (usually we do). Also the prices of the food for the amount and flavor is pretty average. Tip: my favorite thing to eat there is the onion strings, they're amazing with some ranch. Every day there is a different adult drink on sale. Last time I went I got a cider on tap since it was on sale! Nice to have pool tables for guests too! Food was very good...Service was frustrating. Took a lot of patience on our part. We were seated at a high top by the back bar in what was like a covered patio. My first instinct was no thanks, but then realized it was air conditioned. The chair was very uncomfortable (might not have been too bad if I hadn't had to stay there so long), and the table itself was annoyingly uneven. There was only one other table occupied out there, so we were almost by our lonesome. I wasn't very hungry, so I just ordered the French Onion Soup. Husband was indeed hungry, so he ordered the Shrimp Platter. Then we waited and waited. At one point I went to the restroom and the area around the kitchen was sheer chaos. So I could see what was taking so long. Back to wait some more. When the food finally arrived it was VERY good. Highly recommend the soup, and Husband loved his Shrimp platter, although a little more seasoning on the shrimp would have made it better. When it was dropped off, Husband mentioned he would need a refill on his Diet Coke soon. But there was nothing soon about it. He almost finished his meal before he saw the refill. And I can't tell you how long it took to get the check, pay the check, and get it back to be signed. Long. Way too long. We didn't necessarily blame our Server though.
