This was my first time at the San Juan Island Distillery, and I was really impressed by the variety of options. The tastings are free and the hosts are incredibly knowledgeable about gin, brandy, and apple cider. I'd highly recommend trying the brandy-based gins, Pommeau, and a variety of the apple ciders. You get five tastings, and are welcome to try any combination. We ended up getting a bottle each of dry cider and Pommeau after the tastings. If you're ever in the area, San Juan Island Distillery is a real treat.

This was awesome! Loved the cider tasting! The owners were really knowledgeable and friendly. It was fun and interesting! I was on vacation with my mom, and neither of us are big fans of gin, but what the heck! We tried the gin too. Not for us, but it was fun to try. I highly recommend stopping to check it out!

Dropped in for a tasting (available Fridays and Saturdays) since I was in the area for a wedding. Here's my analysis: Cider: five stars Gin: five stars Service: five stars I'm no expert at math but I think that's a five star average. Bonus tip: they fire a mini canon when you buy a bottle of the signature gin.

We loved everything so much that they shipped us a case of hard cider, some gin and several of their liqueurs.

The whole experience, from terrific tour…read moreand spirits tasting to "am I really in Bellingham?" food and drinks at Penny Farthing, was far and away the most special since I've been here. First, go to simply admire what has been done with this long-neglected space. They elegantly and extravagantly integrated old and new, functional with beautiful to create a wonderful distillery and gorgeous dining and cocktail space that each highlights the other. This space would be right at home in Park City, Aspen, Seattle.... The spirits are delicious. I will happily add their gin, Dock Line and bourbon into my home spirit rotation. I will also enjoy using the Krampus and Old Busker liqueurs in some creative ways. Now the food and cocktails. I want to come up with some reason to hold an event here so I can let others experience the flavors and presentations offered. You can tell the chef used to do over the top events in Vegas, baby ! Perfect shareables for any group. My new obsession is the tarragon mustard served with the charcuterie, and addicting herbed Parmesan bread twists. I cannot wait to return for the dishes I did not try. The cocktails are great, and go very well with the food. I loved my Whiskey Sour! Each member of the team, from tour to bartenders to servers, know their stuff and take real pride in attending to you. Congratulations to all and thank you for bringing all this joy to our town!

I'll go back but the pot pie/Chicago style pizza is a good try but a mess. The tomato sauce is watery and lacked flavor and the crust isn't flaky and doesn't help.

They sell at farmers markets and also do tastings in private liquor stores with a discounted purchase. My favourites are the chocolate and coffee liquers. From the gin side, they have a bunch of unique offerings, including a Japanese one, but my personal preference is for the Seacider gin. The lemon lime and rhubarb gins are perfect for mixed drinks in the summer. The actual distiller was at the liquor store tasting I happened upon and apparently they use a local chocolatier's odds and ends to extract the chocolate flavour. At the distillery itself, they also had some nifty gift packs around the holidays. Prices are not cheap, but decent for a craft spirit and the size of the bottles, which are made from hefty glass. The tasting room is pretty small and bare bones. They seem to do decent traffic, though. But would be nice if they could add a patio area or expand and have some seating. I did have an issue with the stopper on the small coffee liquer bottle being a bit leaky, so watch out for that.
