I moved to NYC a few years ago and still drive the 3.5 hours to Shrewsbury at least once a year to get my hair cut and colored by Katie. Her balayage technique makes my hair look amazing and it grows out perfectly so I can usually make it the full year before coming back for my next visit. (even hairdressers in Brooklyn when I've needed a trim have commented on how nice the color is) The vibes are impeccable and after watching her team work with other clients in such thoughtful ways I'd also trust any one of them to do my hair if Katie was ever unavailable. Sat down and waited till almost noon time. Colored the roots and I was told she will be back in 30-40 mins. Waited until 1330 finally texted to please wash my hair now. At 1335 she finally came back and explained that she was finishing a blow dry. 2 hrs wait for only coloring the roots without washing yet. I made an appointment, respected your time and I deserve that too as a client. This is not the first time I had my hair colored and I know how long it takes. Some ladies sitting beside me came after me but I was the last one to have hair washed. RESPECT THE CLIENTS TIME

The first time walking into Shagged Hair Design on Main Street, or Rt 12, in North Oxford, I couldn't help but to drawn into the décor of Shagged. To be honest, Shagged's décor is geared to a mostly female clientele, but someone like me isn't there for the décor. I need to get a good haircut at a price that doesn't completely empty my wallet. Shagged does that. Living in Worcester, there really isn't a whole lot of good/personable/cheap barbers or places to get a good male haircut. I tried barbers in the City, but the trendy taper crap sucks. I tried Diorio's but unless you know someone that works there, you're just another $9 and you get a sloppy cut. This is where Shagged shines. The staff is friendly first, then business like second. I like this about Shagged. As a customer, you are able to give ideas and have someone from Shagged's professional staff recommend a cut to fit the person. So dudes like myself, suck it up and don't worry about the décor and go to Shagged Hair Design and get a gnarly haircut.

The inside is definitely a lot nicer and something you wouldn't expect from seeing the outside for sure. I'm pretty picky when it comes to hair, but what girl isn't. Carmen was awesome. She thoroughly explained every step she made and did suggestions on hair products that i could get to maintain my hair. She definitely lightened my hair as much as possible without destroying it. My hair is literally black by the way, so to go blonde as she did without completely destroying it in one sitting is impressive. Goal is eventually a grey color but had to go blonde first, the balayage she did looks amazing. Honestly if I wasn't planning on going grey for the winter I would be so happy keeping my balayage as is. Honestly I don't think pricing was that bad, I personally think that it's reasonable for what she did. Balayage prices start at 65 but honestly I've paid more and it doesn't come out as great. So I'd have to say pricing is reasonable. Can't wait to return for the final look in two weeks.

It was my first time going to Tia's as it will certainly be my last…read more I came into Tias with hopes that she will help me dye my hair from blonde to silver. During the process, it seemed promising as she had contacted me via text to book and confirm an appointment. I was excited to get my hair done by her. Unfortunately, the outcome was terrible. I left the salon first with wet hair, because she charges to style your hair. So if you choose to not let her style your hair and pay for it, expect to leave the salon with hair as wet as a puppy. Since I left with my hair wet, I couldn't see much of the color, and it was not until I returned home that I saw how poorly she did. From the outside, my hair looked good. The color was nice. But when I looked closely, I saw beneath, how uneven she dyed my hair and even better, how blotchy some spots were. My hair was three different colors, gray, blonde and black (as my roots are black and the blonde was my previous color) I messaged her back and told her I liked the color but I was confused as to why it was so uneven. She tried to blame it on her assistant (who only washed my hair) and told me I would have to come back. I understood that I would have to come back to get the true silver that I had desired, but I did not know I would have to come back to have even color in my hair. She tried to brush it off as if it was okay. I gave it a day before I thought about it, kept starring at my hair and became frustrated. I then contacted her again as she told me I can come in to fix that spot or I can come in for highlights. First, I did not want to come in to fix "that spot" that was uneven because it was more than one spot, it was the majority of my hair beneath. I did not trust her to touch my hair at all. Second, even though she offered me highlights, why would I pay her to give me highlights when I don't want highlights? On top of that, eventually she had someone else reply to me on her behalf via text message as she copied and pasted the same response to me twice. She tried to tell me it was the color, but the color was not the problem, as I had told her repetitively. On top of that, she tried to send me a before and after picture of how good my hair looked from the outside, completely disregarding how it looked beneath. So I asked her for a refund and after going back and forth she told me she doesn't give refunds after I paid her $130 plus $20 for tip. It was not until realized how poor her service was that a few locals told me I am not the first client to complain, I may just be the first client to speak up about it. So after I paid her a total of $150 to ruin my hair, I had to go get it done elsewhere and even go to Sally's to try to fix it myself. Even though she told me I can come back for "highlights" or to "re-tone" my hair after she had unevenly toned it, why would I trust her to touch my hair again?
