Looking for a quick bite for lunch, my friends and I got seated right away on a weekday. There seemed to be a few other booths occupied but otherwise quite. We took advantage of their complimentary chips and salsa and even got seconds. We shared a round of margaritas (raspberry, mango, peach, house) since it was buy 2 for $7.99 which is such a steal! We just couldn't pass on that coming from Atlanta. The drinks were strong and tasty. For food we got their Alambres por uno, Chile poblano, burrito, and quesadillas. Smallest portion were their quesadillas but otherwise everything else seemed supersized. The burrito was doused in a queso sauce. I split the two other dishes with my friend and we were both beyond satisfied by the end. Overall, this is a great place! The foods doesn't seem to be the most authentic but it at least tastes good and is served by people with smiles on their faces. Drinks are solid and prices are fair. I would come again the next time I'm in the area especially if I am staying in the hotel just across the street. read more

Walked out after 25-30 minutes of no food other than chips, salsa and water. They liked those bigger tables pouring in about 12:15, and I had ordered 1 of the lunch specials. I scanned the poor reviews, and from what I saw, they were posted years ago! So don't let them dissuade you from eating here! I've been in Bainbridge now about six weeks and I've visited San Marcos Mexican Grill three times, and I can't imagine you being disappointed! First off, the cleanliness of a restaurant's bathroom tells you a lot about a place. And the men's restroom was very clean and in great shape. Second, they care about the quality of food and provide an abundance of it. I just had the chicken and beef fajitas, which came out sizzling and stayed hot for the next 20 minutes! I substituted avocado for the sour cream, had corn tortillas, and they served it with a separate plentiful plate of salad and refried beans. When you sit down, they bring a big basket of tortilla chips and salsa. I hardly ever eat meat of any kind, but I thought I would splurge tonight, and boy... Was it great! The owners are from the Mexican state of Michoacan, which may explain how good the food is. The cost was just under $20 for a feast. I took half of the food back to the hotel to eat for lunch tomorrow! The staff really seem to care, there's authentic beautiful Spanish language music over the speaker with some of the staff singing along. I really like this place, and I hope you do too. read more

If you are ever in Bainbridge, Georgia and have a hankering for Mexican food, San Marcos grill is the place. Bainbridge doesn't have that many restaurants and of those, well, roll the dice on good service and food. Been here several times and each time was just good, basic Mexican food. This time I branched out a little and got the deep fried whole fish. Fish was really boney with not much meat (thus the 4 star vs 5 star). My partner got the chimichanga, and her opinion was a 4 star dish. Chips and salsa were fresh and definitely 5 stars. Service was good but could have been more attentive. Stopped on the way through for early dinner. This was probably the best Mexican food that we've had in a while. I asked for hot sauce and they brought me some homemade stuff from the kitchen that was amazing. My husband said his California burrito was loaded with chicken and was very flavorful. First time here , the waiter wasn't very friendly had to ask for chips and salsa we ordered our food the waiter never came back to check on us , we had to ask for our ticket. The ambience was nice. However, they didn't give much meat in the fajitas. It was mainly onions and bell peppers. The owner didn't know (or ACTED like he didn't know) what carnitas, barbacoas, or burria quesadillas were. They gave my sister plenty of meat in her San Marcos tacos bowl with ground beef. However, I didn't get much meat in my fajitas. They also don't have many options ACTUALLY available for agua frescas. The prices are a bit steep, also. For two entrees, one appetizer, and one dessert, it was well over forty dollars. Six out of ten, would MAYBE recommend. read more

Tried Laredo first and liked it but wanted to try this other Mexican restaurant... After hostess took me to my assigned seat I waited a couple of minutes... waitress pass by me a couple of times without saying hello or offered me anything. My husband and I stopped here on the way back home to Tallahassee and loved the place. When we entered we were warmly greeted and taken to our table where we were given chips and salsa, as is typical for a Mexican restaurant. The salsa was very good and obviously homemade. My husband ordered a chicken burrito that came with a cheese sauce, the San Antonio burrito. The chicken had a very nice grilled flavor. I had a burrito that was described as "Caliente". While spicy, it wasnt overpowering and I enjoyed it. The service was impeccable and everyone was over the top nice. The only small thing was they did not have a house made sangria. Lol 3.5 stars, really? I mean, I guess for being in the middle of nowhere it's not a bad Mexican place, but I was not impressed with my meal. One good thing: their salsa was pretty good and even had fresh cilantro in it. For food, I got some combo with a tamale, taco, and chicken enchiladas. We were staying in a hotel in walking distance of this resturants on 5May. We walked over expecting a crowd and a wait. We we seated instantly in a 3/4 full resturant. My husbands drink order was wrong. When the waiter that took our drink order passed by several minutes later, we mention it was the wrong beer but since the waiter had opened it my husband would drink it . He said no and nicely brought the correct beer. I ordered a letter D and the different waiter kept on saying E. I said no D as in Diablo. He brought out E and told me that was what he wrote down. Angrily he replaced it with the correct meal and the charged us for the 2 beers even though we ordered 1. I mentioned this to the manager and he said that my husband drank a swallow of the 1st one . I hope they had not planned on reserving the open beer. Since the manager was so rude, I told him about my incorrect order. He told me I should not have said Diablo since that was another item they served. Then to top it all off he said if I want good food and good service I should not have come on their busiest night of the year....FYI there were open tables the entire time we were there. I told him he was the only place in walking distance so that was the only reason we choose him.
